Had a man-shop morning with my son on Saturday... he bought a Triumph Street Triple, I bought a .177 Stoeger XM1, so we spent the rest of the weekend explaining the virtues of our purchases to our other halves 😆. It turns out that I have to build a summer-house in my garden, and he has to decorate three rooms in his house and insulate their loft... or we are dead😉. I am really impressed with this rifle's build and comfort.
This was the first proper air rifle my dad and I owned. I remember my dad being able to shoot stems and twigs at the bottom of the garden fairly consistently. This video reminded me that it's about time I dig it out and give it a little TLC as it hasn't been used much since he passed. Thank you Andy!
Come on Andy for £250 all in and only a 3-9x scope at 40 metres a hole the size of the tip of your little finger, and that’s before you’ve run in the barrel and found the actual pellet it prefers. I’m beginning to wonder why I have spent thousands, yes the magazines and cylinder are a bit smaller than average, but the magazines are cheap and just think how quickly you could fill it with a hand pump. Then there’s the look of the rifle what a stunner she is especially if you discard the front rails. It makes you wonder if it was made by BSA would it sell like hot cakes !
My son and I bought one each (.177), excellent light weight, accurate budget rifle. Mine sadly, was constantly jamming and the gun shop was no help at all, gave up after the 4th rebuild and bought a Reximex Accura. My son's continues to be a sweet little rifle and sometimes I wish I'd just bought another one. Great review.
That grouping at 40mtrs from a budget rifle! Wow, and only £250 for all that kit, outstanding value, but, if someone wants a budget pcp then it’s going to be obvious they will want a budget form of filling it with air, and not something that will cost the same as the gun or more! Time to revue cheap forms of charging them with air !🤔🙂
Been using this for a while now in 177 got it second hand as a punt buy, never let me down 12 months in no issues, accurate my lad at 10 loves it easy to shoot, great gun for a starter or chiid
Looks nice too. Just bought a Sig MCX and I'm LOVING IT. Plinking plastic soldiers like I used to do as a kid. I had myself crying with laughter watching them fly off into the distance. Thankfully, my neighbour doesn't mind collecting any that land in his garden and returning them for a free can of beer and a few goes on the MCX.
Great review Andy. Loved the fact that you kept the supplied scope for the test. Much more realistic for a fairly " budget " gun. A newcomer isn't likely to want to spend extra for superior glass ware. Fine results from a .22. Ace shooting, and a cracking watch. Cheers.
Available here in the USA for $230 ( 180 pds sterling). Nice looking piece, shoots well and considering what you get with it that's quite a bargain. Claims of 1,000 fps with alloy pellet probably closer to 900 fps with lead, giving about about 15 ft lbs with an 8 gr pellet. Great beginners PCP and hand pump friendly. Nice review as always Andy, always give you a look in, as it's nice to know what's happening and current back home on the air gun scene. 👍😁

Nice review! My first pcp rifle in .22 at 22 joules. Bad things: bolt very brittle, it will get loose 100% and if you don't take care of it it will get stuck and broken. Its an easy fix. By cocking the gun in one move you "eat" the metal edges around the bold handle. After some time the bolt will open by itself, still didn't fix that problem. Now the good side: my can send pellet in pellet at 40 metter, it likes round or domed pellets for the magazine. The rail for holding magazines is a NO NO, lost the single tray like that. .22 caliber you get 35 regulated shots and in .177 around 50. There are new versions of xm1 now, sport and scout that have the bolt mechanism from xm1 bullpup. Bullpup is a better gun, better barrel better mechanism and a 225c cylinder. The xm1 is very good for walk n stalk since its 2.5kg without scope, pigeons rats rabbits coyotes don't stand a chance.
Update: dismantled the gun cleaned all parts and used silicone oil on o rings ... Now it has 25 joules, measurements taken with chronograph and 4 different pellets
A little information for those interested..... You can get six mags(54 shots) in .177 from a full 200 bar fill, with the last shot settling the gauge just in the green area and on the .177 the moderator is removable, loosen the grub screw and then unscrew the moderator, and this is a brilliant budget PCP rifle 🙂
Beware the sticking bolt,we have 3 of these excellent guns at our club ( Whittlesey Target Club) but we have had issues with the probe guide bolt unscrewing and jamming the bolt. An easy enough fix but annoying nonetheless. I put up a respectable 97 with one of these on a standard C.T.S.A ompetition card at 25 yards. Good value for money.
Hi Andy I've been looking forward to this review. I've had this rifle for about 3 years now and have no issues with it at all. I use it for a bit of back garden pest control at around 40ft ( which I know isn't a far distance) & I find it more than capable. Thanks for a great review & keep up the good fight.
I have a stoegar in .177 and it’s a tack driver. 980 fps and half inch groups at 40 m. It’s deadly accurate at 60 m., and will go through three quarter plywood,no problem. Shoots alloy pellets 1200 all day. Has a decent trigger and oh ya, it’s a springer.
Watch your reviews all the time, and watched this review recently, as was thinking of dipping my toes into the PCP world (always been a springer guy since I was 10 years old!) ...... and after watching your review I have now purchased this in 177 this week..... Put my first two mags through it and after 4 shots to zero it, the other shots were all in the same hole the size of a 5 pence piece, safe to say I'm impressed.... Thanks for your reviews and keep up the fantastic work 🙂
Interesting, I owned an x20 and I couldn't get it to hit a barn door! So when i was looking at something else I went for the gamo arrow (which I love) instead of the Stoeger. now seeing this review I may change my mind and get one...

Hi ANdy. I have one since 2012 and very pleased with it. Precise and silent. You did not mention the two picatiny rails at the front are made to two-leg bipod. I agree the reservoir could be bigger.
The only down side i have found is the cocking handle, they tend to snap but a decent aftermarket one is available. the shot count is ok for the size of cylinder especialy if you are just pottering around the farm. the silencer is removeable and is on a 1/2" unf threaded adapter which is fixed to the barell end with a grub screw.
Good morning all, Andy thanks for another great video. I hope you and Mrs AAR are staying warm, hope to see you at the Great British Shooting Show next month.
Morning, Andy, great review as always. I have the Stoeger Bullshark in .22, and absolutely love it ! Great accuracy and consistency, with 30 fpe of power. Looking forward to your take on it.

Hi Andy. Seen a Stoeger in my local shop online for £200 full kit. Probably used not sure. Brilliant review and shoot as usual and might get me back into the sport. Hello, first of all I want to tell you that I love watching your videos, just one question, why don't you do the analysis of the Brocock Ghost PCP rifle? At the end of last year the record was broken with that rifle, could you do the review, greetings from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico!!!
There is so much to choose from in this price bracket and they all seem to perform better than the price would suggest. Im wondering if it's worth spending an extra £400 on the gun ive shortlisted. Thanks for the great review and THANKS for giving me second thoughts 😂😂😂
Hi Andy, could you tell me what type of silicone oil you use on your co2 guns please? People saying RWS chamber lube but others saying that's just plain silicone oil with a huge markup. I tried some generic 100cst RC shock silicone oil and have had mixed results (too viscous?)

www.vector-air.co.uk/product-page/rokstad-elp-v-mount-tripod this is the link and it is in the drop down box below the video. stay safe. Andy
fab, thanks Andy :)
Can you release the remaining air when your done shooting?
please DON’T! they are designed to hold air to help seal them
Hi Andy, have you seen the new Epic airguns from Czech ?
Will you be testing any?
I wouldn’t swear to it, but that could be the “Epic Two” in the background 😉. And the full review may be out in the next couple of weeks……Stay safe.
Brilliant ! I know vector air have some. Thanks for all the air content 👍🏻
💡 would be good to compare the epic to other high end models such as the panthera as they’re priced and perform very similar in FAC models.
Thanks.
Another Artemis/Snowpeak based rifle 👌
What about the epic airgun behind you waiting on that review 😊
There is so much to choose from in this price bracket and they all seem to perform better than the price would suggest. Im wondering if it's worth spending an extra £400 on the gun ive shortlisted. Thanks for the great review and THANKS for giving me second thoughts 😂😂😂
Nice review
Can u add a sling????
Does someone please tell me if this model has a regulated valve? Tanks
Hi Andy, could you tell me what type of silicone oil you use on your co2 guns please? People saying RWS chamber lube but others saying that's just plain silicone oil with a huge markup. I tried some generic 100cst RC shock silicone oil and have had mixed results (too viscous?)
You can't really argue with that for the price, very impressive. Cheers Andy. ATB MMMD
