I travelled by Saraighat Exp. on same route in May 2018 from Howrah to Gauhati. What a spectacular journey. Rivers, big greenery & industrial development. Enjoyed best rail travel on this route.

Only 7 year ago and you can see the difference in indian Railways comparing to the present times. Today most of the train runs with Lhbs,almost all of the routes are electrified,doubling in north east,etc
nice capture.....got another chance to find out one small mistake,the train waiting at ddj outer was not uttarbanga,probably hatebazare or something else...because it was waiting on down 4 th track of SDAH-NH section

This is perhaps the most ill maintained and mismanaged train of Eastern Railway, between BWN TO RPH the reservation coaches get occupied by daily commuters, doorways and passages blocked with unbooked luggages, unauthorized vendors, transgenders and beggers roam freely in the train, thus the safety and security of reserved ticket holders are in the mercy of the Almighty...... the whole train becomes a pandemonium. Nobody to look after.

Electrification is still in progress. It was not yet energized till Rampurhat then (which it is now).
