    Welcome to the airwaves. Started driving and chatterbox chatting full time at 22yrs old. Now retired in my late 60's. You picked a great radio and an awesome tech. 73. 😑🦗

    Man thanks for posting this level of detailed info. I just bought a Lincoln 2+ with the cb mod. Your channel just popped up the day I'm about to instal in my truck and man you really dropped some bombs on me. This is my first big radio and you really explain the ins and outs of the radio.

    Thanks for the tutorial! Per the schematic, the addition of a 1k resistor forms a voltage divider with a 10kΩ resistor connected to the 5v regulator. Without the jumper (resistor), the radio sees a logic high at 5v via that 10k resistor. With the 1k resistor in place, the resistor drops the voltage at that point to 0.45v for logic low. If the total resistance is 11kΩ, the total current is 5v / 11kΩ = 0.4545mA. Since there is only 1/11 of that 5v (0.4545v) appearing across the 1k resistor, the power dissipated in it is 0.4545v x 0.0004545A = 0.2mW. So a 1w resistor is a bit extreme... If they thought the average CB'er (who these are really marketed toward) could work with SMDs, those through hole part vias wouldn't even be there since it is just a CMOS logic level signal.

    • @GroundControl204

      Definitely not a stupid question brother, but when you convert these radios you only gain the 11 meter band, you lose no bands and no modes sir. AM/ FM/ SSB is all active.👍🏻

    So quick question, looking at this or the AT6666. Using a Stryker A10 antenna for CB in a semi. What would you recommend?

    • @GroundControl204
      @GroundControl204  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not a fan of the anytone what so ever, Lincoln 2+ is a better radio. But my #1 recommendation is still the Stryker 955.

    • @sjfk1306
      @sjfk1306 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GroundControl204 I have a 955. I hooked it up and it blew the fuse. Replaced the fuse and won’t turn on. Before this it say in a upstairs bedroom so I need to get it repaired. Something you’d do? I’d actually wanna sell it as I’ll be done trucking in October.

    • @GroundControl204
      @GroundControl204  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s called reversed polarity, hooking up the power cable backwards will blow a diode easy. You will blow the fuse on the power cord as well and it will not power back up until the DC protection diode is replaced and the fuse as well. I stopped the repair service 5 years ago, you can send it to me but if there is more damage than what I expect in my previous statement I’ll just send it back to you, I’m so busy with fully functional radios that need tuning and customizing I literally have no time for true repair troubleshooting, which can take days or even weeks depending on the damage.

      @@GroundControl204 it 100% wasn’t hooked up backwards. I’ve been trying to get to Walcott to drop it off but you seem to know your shit and I just listen to your vids podcast style while I drive. Lol. I’ll think about it. I don’t want to take your time away from production. Thank you.

    As usual, another great and informative video Mike. 👏👏👏
    To the young man that this video was made for, I have a word for you... Be thankful that you're informed with this kind of honest tech work so early into this hobby. Stick with 204 and others like him and you'll save yourself tons of cash, frustration and confusion. I got my first CB radio 37 years ago and dealt with different so-called techs over the years and in honestly only two of them truly knew their stuff. Unfortunately they've both passed away. This channel keeps things on topic and honest.
    Mike I know you'll read this post eventually and I have a small request. I'm sure there are other radio-heads other than myself that would like to see a video about radio reception. Like, which radio do you think has the best receive (new or old) and should a receive section of a radio ever be tweaked. I was really spoiled by a couple of my old Cobra 2000's years ago by having such a low noise floor with hardly any white noise. You get the idea. Sorry for such a long post, keep the vids coming. Peace and 73 from 251! 🤙

      With an RF sampler, one rated for wattage that can handle whatever amount suits your needs, do not hook up a radio directly to an oscilloscope or you will damage the test equipment. 73
