Is anybody aware of a full that seems to happen with this radio when you wire up a different microphone for it? Basically, every now and then when you press the PTT button the frequency will change. If you're under 10 kHz then it will change by 10 kHz, I think if you're under a megabyte that it may change by 1 MB. Doesn't happen a lot, just occasionally. I spoke to the shop I bought it from and they are aware of this problem. It's not really a big issue, I can live with it. Just wondered if anybody else had experienced the same problem if you are using a different microphone rather than the original.
Question about the Dual Watch function: is it capable of watching channels on different bands? For example, if running in a convoy that is using an FM or sideband frequency, can I also simultaneously watch 27.185Mhz for road reports? Or must the dual watched channels be in the same band and mode?
This radio does not have that function. It is called priority channel. The older hr2510`s with the chip can do that. You can put 27.185 or any frequency you want in dual watch, but you have to go to it when you want to hear it. You can not hear 2 channels at the same time. Another cool feature is split mode. You transmit on 1 channel and receive on another channel.
Receive is very good, but having a good antenna with flat match also helps receive. I have a Wilson 1000 Mobil and it does very well. It covers 25 to 30 mhz.
Mine also started displaying this. After trying to key it down a couple of more times, it blew the protection diode off the board. Took out the voltage regulator and both finals with it. Ordered new parts from mouser and got it back going. Hope it doesn't happen again. 😕
Auto squelch maybe. I say this because that happened to me too. Notice the squelch was auto to so i turned it to about 9 oclock position receive came back. Hope this helped. 12 Watkins Glen.ny.
If you like presidents auto Squelch, don't buy this radio. I along with many others are having problems with it. Nothing but choppy audio. Even if the other person is putting a 9 on the meter. It works great on my McKinley.

I cut off one wire on the 6 pin plug. I used a D 104 desk mic.
What is the Data Connection on the rear panel for? Can you change the menu functions via PC?
Yes, I have the data cable and software. It just does same thing using menu does. You can see all the settings on the screen.
I have an older base tha has fm, wonder if it the same fm?

how to turn the menu beep off
You missed clarifier somehow. But anyways I got it to stay locked when you turn off the radio and turn it back on.
No need for clarifier since it has basically a VFO channel knob on the 2+ model at least. I got the 2+
i had mine for about 2 months and Love it. But i was messing around in the menu and now it wont transmit , it says DC LOC

I have the President Lincoln II+ and it doesn't scan. I can hit scan and it shows 'scan' on the display, but it does nothing. Any ideas?
Squelch must be activated to scan. That's the only thing I can think of.

I agree...the auto squelch doesn't work on this transceiver at all
