    I use Nu Finish in my tumbler when cleaning spent brass. Comes out looking awesome.

    I've got a 10lb. I use the walnut shells for cleaning used brass. It works wonderfully! Great medium.

    Awesome video. I like that you talked about different needs for different tumblers. I love a good stone wash effect after some etching.

    FWIW I took a jewelry making class a few years ago and we used those tumblers for polishing finished pieces. We used the little pyramids (ceramic I think) and a mix of water and dishwashing liquid. They do a great job on silver or other metals.

    Great Video as always man! I've been getting deep into finishing these days. I started with the same machine and upgraded to a giant barrel tumbler. The walnut or corncob is an excellent burnisher. if you go with the lower power tumblers such as these go for the aggressive ceramic media. If its too mild it just wont do allot with the smoother stuff. Happy finishing my friend. :)

    I bought the same thing at Canadian Tire a few years ago, put some material I bought at a dollar store in and I did stone wash an Esee Izula. It worked out pretty well. I did a few bigger blades before that, using my Cibachrome/Ilfochrome Chemistry turner. I just put the blades in a round , plastic, sealed container of the right size with the material (rocks) and let it go. It also gave okay results. I did spray in some WD40. These machines make the process so much easier than shaking it in your hands or sitting down rolling it with your foot.

    Can you make another video showing how well it works with the walnut media after you try it out?

    I’ve had a small Dillon since 1993 works great with crushed walnuts hulls and liquid car wax the orange bottle kind , but I’m going to get some pea gravel and some wd42 after I acid etch with brown acid to see what kind of finish I get , I’m only make EDC or neck knives .
    Thanks for the information, stay warm. 😎😷

    For walnut I have used a little mineral oil in the bowl to help keep the dust down. Works pretty well.

    Where did you get that ceramic media?

    Add a tblspoon of NuFinish car polish to the walnut/corncob media to get a better finish and reduce the dust.

    I found window cleaner works the best to keep everything wet, then I spray the blade down with wd-40(it tends to gum up without the window cleaner). Hope all is well, take it easy.

    Have you used sphere ceramic media instead of cylinders??

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I haven’t. This is the only ceramic media I’ve tried. Have you used sphere media? I’d be curious what the difference is. Cheers👍

    I’ve got the same sized version from Canadian tire. Takes way too long to tumble a blade or titanium. I’d like a larger solution that doesn’t break the bank.

    • @stangbladeworks3579
      @stangbladeworks3579 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This seems weird but take the lid off and it works way better. Buy the larger size for around 300 and you're good. I have a small one and a 10lb one. Both with coarse ceramic triangles from master. It will stonewash ti and hardened steel pretty fast. Maybe like 45 minutes.
