I never imagined Gardner would be with the Yankees for this long. It's very rare nowadays for a player to spend 10-plus years with one team. If he plays elsewhere in the future, I wish him the best. But deep down I hope he retires a Yankee

@@razd3851 Yeah I was only 14 at the time and I was already taller than him. I'm about 6'6" now and back then I was about 6'1". He was about 2-3 inches shorter than me.
He’s also my favorite and believe it or not he actually threw me a ball after it was fouled but I still have to get it signed.

I remember when gardner first joined yankess when i was a kid. Dude was stealing bases like it was nothing, bunting and hustling to 1st. Dude was fast af
Grady is that dude......I remember when he first got here he stole alot of bases and played alot of short ball...not mention he played with Jeter and he was sharing time with Cabrera in the outfield.....now 10 years later he hits alot more hrs and knows how to get the big hit...he clutch ... Playing with Yankees helped him grow ....
Gardy and Jeter were such a great 1-2 tandem at the top of the order.

I started watching the Yankees in 2007, and I can't believe I have watched Gardy played for all these years. I could still remember his rookie year, and now he has developed some much.

Gardner’s pretty damn clutch. He’s had awesome moments, especially this year. That triple off Kimbrel was epic. In my opinion best moment of the first half, and there have been a lot of good moments.
Pretty clutch? His playoff BA is one of the worst in history. This guy is the most overrated Yankee ever, keeps wasting a roster spot because he sleeps with Boone and Cashman. My Grandma can throw a baseball better than him, and Bernie Williams was 3 times better than Old Yeller. His career highlight for me will be when he packs his bags and leaves for good. He has sucked the last couple of years, and was always average at best. Gardner, please go away.

Brett The Jet Gardener, whats not to love. He plays hard every day, still to this day, still swipes bags, still hits, and still runs fly balls down showing the young guys how its done.
Watching this in 2023, makes me realize that Yankee stadium was built for a guy like Gardner over a guy like gallo. Gardeners contact and occasional power played so well and allowed him to hit 20hr quite a few times. One of my all time favorite players to watch

Three moments I'd have to add to this vid: The game tying 2B against Verlander in game 3 of the 2011 ALDS (Yanks lost that game but at the time it was a pretty big hit), the infield single to start the game winning 5 run rally in game 1 of the 2010 ALCS, and lastly, the inside the park HR in 2009
Tho tbh, if there's any one play that sums up the type of player Gardy is, it's the one from the 2010 ALCS to start this rally

Just had another big hit that scored the go ahead and ended up winning run in the 10th inning of a 7/8/18 game against Toronto.
This was a nice video. Gardener delivered in some key moments. However, one more play should've gotten added to the list and that play is when he hit a inside the park HR.

He was a decent player so long as he was stealing 30-40 bases a year, but even with his speed there were problems. First, he can't read pitchers. Get's bad jumps and relied on speed only to steal bases. Second, constant injuries from slides - hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders. As a hitter he's been either ice cold for four, five, six weeks in a row, or white hot and hitting the ball like he's an elite player. Mostly a mirage. They finally stopped using him as a legit base stealing threat a few years ago. So why are they resigning him? Just not a good move. He was much more clutch than either Cano or Posada tough.
so glad we resigned him hope he can retire in pinstripes. Always an underrated guy but always played hard. Lets hope we can get him another ring in 2020
