Holy crap! I never thought about suggesting shaved ribeye in the meat section at Publix or any other market. I've been using that brand for a long time and purchased brioche buns at Walmart or Whole Foods. I add mushrooms and onions with Cheezwiz on top. I can only feed about four people in my 17-inch grill but they go crazy for it. I realize now you should ask for better ingredients from your viewers if it makes sense. Great video guys.
Haha!! It’s so crazy, even as long as we’ve been cooking and doing this, we’re still learning all the different ways to get meat!😂😂 Honestly, it’s been too long since I’ve had some good mushrooms on my cheesesteak! Time to change that!! Much love fam, GRIDDLE ON!!🔥🔥
Great video!! I’ve done both and came to the same conclusion that frozen or fresh is very close. HEB has these frozen sliced ribeye packages that are even better than the Steak umm.
Make no mistake-umm, that most certainly is a sandwich! My local shop has the frozen brand "Philly Gourmet", and I use it all the time! While I love the fresh ribeye, it's always nice having that back-up in the freezer for emergencies (getting home at 0200 with a buzz and a hankerin' for drunk food) They cook super quick, are 100% beef, and taste excellent! Awesome cook and comparison... And, GRIDDLE ON!!
Great video guys. I work for a foodservice and deliver to a few large chain restaurants and high end local restaurants. I’ve never delivered fresh break steak/cheesesteak to any of them. It’s all frozen. I’ve never put my bread on the griddle and melted the cheese into it but now I’m going to have to give it a try. Griddle on!
Make no Mistake-umm that's a sandwich I will never get tired of. I love the comparison cook, that's fun. I haven't tried Steak-umm before, but I have done Gary's QuickSteak many times. If you can find that one, it's worth a try for sure. It comes frozen in a big slab and you throw it down on the griddle for 30 sec. and flip it, then you can just pull it apart, it's amazing stuff. Also comes with some seasoning. Those hoagie rolls you get look really good. Thanks for the great video. Griddle On!
This was a great cook! I actually prefer steakums since it is already shaved and there is not as much fat strings when you bite into it. I drain the grease with a paper towel before adding the cheese. Love you two❤
Make no mistak’um that’s a sandwich! 😂 Another great cook I’ll be trying this spring. So glad to see Brett using the ceramic top for cookin’ too. I can relate much better to that. (My 3 burner Ultimate). 🇨🇦👍🏼
Woot woot!! Thank you so much for sticking it out with us fam!!🔥🔥 We love both cooktops, and recently have been using either/or more regularly. Happy you enjoy this fam!!
Happy New Year you two Crazies!!! Another Awesome cook!!! "COOLER TODAY"......It was 26 degrees here in Missouri this morning....LOL! Much Luv Fam! GRIDDLE ON!!!
I just noticed the shaved ribeye at my local grocery store.....Theyve had shaved beef.....but not specifically ribeye until now. The steakumms are always a good choice for me tho....I like them
Awesome comparison fellas! Make no miss steakum that’s a sandwich 🥪 😂. Totally agree. with your results. To me if it’s shaved and ready to throw down I’m all for it😆. Hope you guys have a fantastic week! Cheers and Griddle On!
Great video love cheesesteaks. I personally prefer the rib eye meat I have eaten both and you are right they are actually so close it is difficult to tell them apart .
That was a cool idea making and eating them side by side. I just recently put out a video with steakum cheese steak. I had to see for myself if it worked. I was pretty impressed. I did it a little bit different but mostly 100% the same. If that makes any sense. I used paprika on the onions. Salt and pepper on the beef. An Amoroso's roll but I used the wiz for the cheese. I was able to fit the entire package of steakum in one sandwich. Lol oink oink!! You guys are lucky. I rarely ever see shaved ribeye here and when I do I always snatch it up. Otherwise I use the mandoline which ends up taking a lot longer. The steakum was $5.99 at the store I got it from. Not sure how much it was for y'all. I always like to know what people are paying for similar items in different states. Great video Brett and Adam!
Oh yes!! We will definitely have to check it out fam!! No, we totally get it! After using this steakumm (which claims “6” sandwiches…🙄), we could have easily got it all on one!! Much love brother we’ll check out the video!!
@@waltwins Thank you so much brothers! I always like to know your thoughts. I've learned so much from you guys. Always wonderful material and family-friendly fun!
@@waltwinsI have another banging good idea that I'm going to try tomorrow night. I got this wild idea of doing a cheese steak but half of it will be steak and the other half pastrami along with some nice grilled onions. I don't know if any other griddler has done that yet but I have a feeling it's going to be bomb. I might try it first with steakum just to scope it out.
This! I think you se the third one to mention Gary’s, and now we gotta try!! We may have to do them all and see which is best, or if they are all amazing!!
First, ya'll are correct ... it IS a cheesesteak no matter what Philly says. Second, I've had both versions and the thin shaved ribeye is a solid win for me every time. The Steak-UMM is a late night, last minute go-to for me.
LAst week we had 2 nights of Ribeye cheesesteaks and last night we had chicken cheesesteaks. I looked at 2 stores and could not find the Steak-um brand but we want to try them. .
I meant to say can you do chipped him and barbecue on the griddle i am new to all of this griddle on the 2nd of this month I just got a Blackstone griddle
Brethren! 2 delicious cheesesteaks?! Another winning entree for the #Waltwins food truck. Make no mistake-um, that’s a sandwich! Well done and griddle on!
Howdy boys! Yes I have tried the Steakeums before and I will agree, they come out a little more greasy but still great. Thanks for the video and GRIDDLE ON DUDES
Make no mi-steakumms thats a sandwich 😅 I enjoy steak-umms as well. They're good to keep in the freezer when the mood strikes haha If you have a Sam's club near you they often carry something call Steak-Eze which is a similar concept but they look like little thicker steaks that you can rip apart similar to these. Fun faceoff video gentlemen!
Thank you so much for sticking it out with us fam!! That’s great, others have mentioned the Sam’s frozen ribeye, we will definitely have to give it a try and maybe have to do a mega taste-test with them all!!😂🔥🔥
I was born and raised in south Philly I worked the grill making cheese steaks as a young man. I feel I should tell you that the steak should be cooked on low medium so you don't dry it out The onions should be started earlier so they are ready when you add them to the steak and before you add the cheese. Also, you don't use butter use a good oil. Not evoo mind you but either a corn oil or plain olive oil. One last thing, don't Salt the steak until just before you add the cheese.Salt will draw out the moisture which you don't want. Dan

Make no miss steakum that's a good sandwich. I haven't used steakums but I have used the frozen shaved steak from Sam's club, And it turned out delicious.
Happy New Year Guys!!! Make no Mistake-umm that's a sandwich!!! No matter if you use frozen or fresh, they are both just as good to me. I usually make cheese steaks every week...
Happy new year fam!! Haha!! Thank you so much for sticking it out with us!! We love making cheesesteaks of all kinds! Just made a heap of chicken cheesesteaks for my kiddo’s party tonight! Always a hit!🔥🔥
Good video guys, I use steakum, easy kept in freezer for when I want them. I use cheese wiz like they do in Philly. Been there and I swear it was steakum.
If you wanna kick it up a notch, get the Sara Lee artesano sausage rolls, and then put some mayonnaise or miracle whip on the inside of the bread and lightly toast the inside of the bread.
That’s what I thought too, but typically, it’s closer to a $4-$5 difference, and honestly, we were super impressed! We will try other brands as well to see if there are big differences. Cheers brother, thank you for watching!
Make no mistake-umm I don't think it is as good, but its something you can keep in the freezer and its ready to go. I'll take 70% for a product i can have ready to go at any time. With it you basically have a decent cheesesteak ready in smash burger time frames. On the health side of things, I was surprised when I saw the ingredients were just beef which is why I keep it in my freezer. Yeah crap cuts ground into a paste and shaped into a log, frozen and sliced. But its just beef. Sure, technically that makes it a processed food but I grind beef at home so I guess that is processed as well. But its just super ground beef. I would have thought jam packed with sodium, preservatives etc. Still end of the day I'd rather buy a rib eye, shave it and make it myself. Rib-eye is just so dang tasty, But most nights I don't have time for that. I want something ready in 30 minutes after work, and steak-umm provides.
Absolutely brother! Nothing beats fresh ribeye - even the heritage isn’t as good as right from the butcher. That said, you nailed it here! These were excellent!! Much love fam!
Hope you were able see out other comment! It depends on the nature of the cook, it’s not a barbecue grill, but with the right seasonings and sauce, we’ve had success with some great bbq sandwiches and other cooks!
I had heritage rib eye last weekend for cheesesteaks. It was on sale. I thought it was acceptable. I like to have butcher shave ribeye for me but too expensive right now. Thanks for watching as always brother - the griddle cooks down and has a tougher time holding the higher temps - it was near 50 degrees, Brett is always in shorts.😂 The one thing we needed to do for sure was to wrap in foil for 10!🔥🔥

Sorry fellas but to me steak-ums have a horrible artificial taste to them. Team shaved ribeye all day. Make no mistake-um as always I enjoyed the vlog!!!
We've tried making these a few times. We find them rather bland. I guess it delivers what it promises. There's steak. There's cheese. There's onion, salt and pepper. Maybe I'm missing something?
Steakums is a no go for me. I asked my wife like 5 years ago to get some already shaved steak from the store and she brought that stuff home. I put garlic butter on my buns and toast them, I worked at a cheese steak place for a few years and make a spicy sauce for my cheese steaks with onions,American or provel cheese and a lil green pepper. They sucked. We have never bought them since. Gonna have to disagree with everyone on this one. Happy New Year.

I use frozen steak every time, and I'm never disappointed. The issue comes with getting them out of the paper. Thanks for sharing!
"Skosh". Most don't know just how technical of an adjustment term that is! Right up there with " Smidge" and "Hair". It IS in fact a Science!

I am so glad you did this comparison. I have done the SteakUms and thought the same. Thanks guys for your honest opinion.

thanks you guys for a back response about outdoor 5 burned pit boss.

Thanks guys!
Great video love cheesesteaks. I personally prefer the rib eye meat I have eaten both and you are right they are actually so close it is difficult to tell them apart .
I have always found the stackum's to have more grease but that is what also gives it flavor.
Absolutely - it’s kind of a balance, we would like to compare others as well, thank you for watching fam!!🔥🔥
@WALTWINS Thanks so much for showing the dials. Please do this every time. Gives us a "starting point" anyway
Great video fellas-ty- Gary’s Quicksteak is great for a quick Sami on the griddle as well- give it a try
Oooh, so good to know! We will be on the lookout! We may need to do a grand taste-test for all of the frozen steaks now!!😂😂🔥🔥
Make no Mistake-Ummm......I am going to have to try this. I will probably throw some bell peppers in mine though.
Woot woot!! Thank you for sticking it out with us! Peppers would have been perfect!!

Where I am at, we have "Gary's Quick Steak" and it is pretty darn good. 9 Sirloin packed staks like steak ums.

Boom!
Woot woot, let’s go!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’ve used sreakums for years. They taste like cheesesteak to me and my husband is from Phili and he loves them
Oh yay!! So your opinion is the Steakumms reminds you of the true Philly’s? It really surprised us with how good it was!!
what buns did you use?
Thank you for watching fam! We try to find really good hoagie rolls, these here are the Publix hoagie rolls. 🤙🤙
What you're making is a steak sandwich with cheese. A true "cheesesteak" has the cheese mixed throughout the meat. Hence, (cheese)steak.
Nice comparison of two delicious sandwiches,
Starship Captains!!!
Haha!! Thank you so much brother!! We approve of the new Nick-name title!!😂😂🔥🔥

Thank you
45th!!! That's a great number to be 😅
Haha!!!! Welcome back in the game fam!!! We love it!! 45th is the new 1st!!😂😂🔥🔥💙💙
Price why's what was the cost of each ?
I had heritage rib eye last weekend for cheesesteaks. It was on sale. I thought it was acceptable. I like to have butcher shave ribeye for me but too expensive right now. Anyway, I don't salt the meat till the end. Any ribeye or any steak can dry out when u add salt too early in the cook. That is my experience anyway. Not a fan of steak ums.
Grew up on Steak-Umms boys!!!! Good stuff!! Lol
YOUR WELCOME
I’m trying the Walmart version meat tonight.
Love the Steakums and even the great value brand. I've got the shaved ribeye from Krogers and other places and it is always so stringy with fat.
Thank you so much for watching fam! We were absolutely 👍 notes with the ease and flavor of the steak-umm! So good!!🔥🔥
Steak-umms!! Haven’t had in years! I made it in college a lot, cheap and good!!
Make no mis-steak-um, that’s a sandwich!
you guys rock love the channel
What spices did you use, or was it just S&P?
I can't wait to try our own test!
(Make no mistake ummmm!!!)😊
I would like to combine the two meats.

Wow steak umms who would have thought..

The steak UMM looked like a processed meat, where the rib-eye looked natural.
Make no mistake um,,,that's a sandwich!!!
Thumbs up!
Eddie Murphy would call this a "welfare cheesesteak."
Steak um is pure garbage the shaved steak way taste way better
Thanks for watching and for the input - while the Steakum was fattier, we did enjoy both. Cheers!
steak umm meat is gross sorry ribye all the way
We actually liked both, I guess it’s a preference. Cheersz
