Against Shin Goenitz.... His attacks are not normal, Faster recovery on all of his attacks, can combo you easily. His Ex Yonakaze can fire two tornadoes. Watch out for his KOF2002UM ultimate super
Another thing to note is the ex version of his wind slice attack if he lands it he will always follow up with a taunt. Thats not for show btw, whenever he does that he charges a full bar on his power meter
I notice some easter egg regarding Goenitz after he beats Terry (this works when Terry is your last character): Goenitz' Win quote against Terry is similar to the quote spoken in the 2nd trailer for Garou:MoTW 2. (Leave this place, wolf...) I bet Goenitz' current VA MIGHT become Kain's VA in the near future. (Note: About the VA stuff, it's just my speculation.)

SNK took notes from the last time and made it count and re-introduced us to the boss syndrome. I wonder if Rugal got updated to become as cheap as Goenitz, but I don't have the game to know.
To answer the question, no I don't believe so. He's still quite weak. I managed to cheese him with Ryo's HP Ko-oh ken because he'd keep trying to pop a barrier not realizing he wouldn't have the frames needed to do that. I specificlly fought him again before Goenitz just to double check
I literally tried to do the same Yamazaki counter strategy, only with Rock Howard. It worked like 20 percent of the time but I managed to scrounge up a victory by investing my meter in my anchor, Krohnen. It took hours over the course of today and yesterday, but I did it.
Took me an hour and a half just to beat him. I used Krohnen and Isla to build meter. Then just prayed to god that anchor Geese would do the trick. And just when I was ready to give up, Goenitz jumped right into a Hail Mary Raging Storm. Nightmare over.
That was the only glimpse of hope that pushed to continue fighting him. Seeing how quickly he finishes the rounds, he would regain most, if not, all his health back.
You know that you are kinda screwed when Boss Goneitz can throw two tornadoes in a row which hit OTG, and then he does the '96 cheapass teleport to grab super spam....
After all the complains of Omega Rugal being easy, SNK delivered Awakened Goenitz. As the old saying goes: be careful what you wish for, for it may become reality.

You're my go to for any kof-related lore. Thanks a lot for making the videos you do. One thing's been bugging me, is it not possible for SNK to bring Moriya, Kagami or even Setsuna into KOF to show Last Blade some love. I mean, Moriya's teleport slash combos are some of the most beautiful things to look at in any SNK games, hell in any fighting game as far as I'm concerned.

Storywise, the Sacred Treasures resealed Orochi in KoF14. He was mid revival and the trio made sure to nix that before it started. They might bring him back later, but I think they're gonna skip him for now.
Once all the characters are released for this game that hardest kof bosses list might need an update. I want them to update rugal's AI now to match this. And i still believe if they made otoma raga's AI good she would be the hardest SNK boss of all time. Her moveset is completely unfair especially in second phase. A guy on youtube put level 5 CPU raga against this goenitz and raga still won.

LOL! We called it! We knew that Goenitz would be a pain in the azz to play against. But I am actually surprised that they made him want to get so close for combat. When he was a pain before, I felt like he was a annoying zoner but this version might be worse because he's so dang aggressive lol. But great gameplay vid Shoryu! Thanks!
Using Yamazaki's parry was a nice touch. I spammed Kukri's dive kick and he would stay on block stun for a while if you don't mess up the sequence. In that way you may chip damage him until almost 50%, getting a guard crush inbetween - when you may use his level 2 super. Isla in the middle and Rugal in the anchor did the rest
Many people complained about Rugal being easy so SNK just gave Goenitz the classic SNK Boss Syndrome 😁😆 Glad that SNK did that. I miss very hard bosses in modern fighting games. Besides, it is optional and you can face him as many times you want. Just remember, you don't have to beat him the same day you first fight him. It makes me remember those days in the arcade, taking weeks to beat a boss, learning his pattern, learning combos and finding ways to exploit his AI 😊 Edit: Now I want Krizalid or Igniz to be in the Boss Challenge Mode.
Why everyone keeps requesting to return Orochi in KoF XV? Canon story wise, Orochi was sealed again (implied at the ending of Sacred Treasures team). It means, Orochi isn't returning (also Team Orochi ending isn't canon).
If it's just an SNK Boss Syndrome, I can still win against them. With difficulty, of course. But Goenitz is on a whole new level. He's an SNK Boss with pro player AI and broken abilities. After I fought Rugal, for once I thought Boss Challenge should make the bosses have more HP and recover each round. But I'm really glad the latter didn't happen after I fought Goenitz.
Geonitz "go nuts" on this boss challenge. Yes, just like old times but even better! I'll have fun trying again and again beating his ass down. Good job SNK! Now go get to work on those other bosses and make it hellish, yeah!🤩
This boss was quite the challenge (and learning experience), I basically went at it for maybe 7 hours straight with my team of Mary, Chris and Shermie (I choked a few potential victories in-between). The strat I used with the first 2 characters was to be defensive and bait his dash (or other strikes) so I could DP him (Shermie's 214A and AC kind of worked but had a lower success rate). I got caught too many times by his dash into grab super where I knew it was coming but my jump input got eaten cause I was a tad bit too late. The other annoying bit is the block string where he finishes with the 2nd hit of his rekka that can only be punished with 2B as I only got decent damage off of it with Shermie. Something that's interesting about his boss exclusive Lv2 super is that if you are close enough (and he isn't backed into the corner) you can forward roll to get behind him during his start-up (where he waves his hands two times) and wait for him to throw the tornado to punish (do note that if you attack him before then you will get caught and lose 70%). Alternatively, if you aren't in the vacuum range then you can wait for him to throw the tornado and use a move like Shermie's 214D (the twirl kick with projectile immunity) I think at 21:59 Goenitz cancelled into 623K which is a reversal to avoid getting hit (only invisible for a tiny bit though). It's funny seeing the cheese strats after beating him, there's one I saw involving Isla's backdash into her air frontflip which is kinda goofy looking. It'll be fun to see how the next boss challenge rush will play out
I must say this boss is a nightmare but I wonder will we get other bosses like MUKAI, Magaki and Adelheid Bernstein in this game. I wouldn't mind seeing Magaki in this game just spamming projectiles at us.
Adelheid would still be fine since he's a mini rugal. Mukai I'm not sure if he'll be back since he's,well dead from saiki. Unless I'm remembering wrong. But magaki yeah hopefully he won't come back for our sanity
Seeing everyone else is or was also struggling beating Goenitz, makes me feel better about myself. Truth be told, I downright suck. Finally beat him today! I guess you could say I "Cheese" Howarded that sunuva gun! Didn't even need Terry or Rugal. PREDICTABO!!!
While I was playing I found a very useful but somewhat strict cheese strat and that is hit Goenitz with terry’s heavy crack shoot then immediately dp rising tackle it works a good amount of the time
You know Goenitz's Koku Deska, it reminds me a lot of Dormammu's Purification so I assume any dormammu mains will feel right at home playing as Goenitz
I really like the way you figured out some tricks and exploits. That's kind of the fun of bosses like this. It's fun seeing an experienced player give it a try. You could have used the reset though. If you eat a super before you can land a hit on the first character, just reset. There's no loading when you do.
The only two true counter to this boss is Isla lol. If you do backdash and cancel it into her quarter-circle back light kick overhead move, he gets hit always. Basically he will charge towards you reading your backdash input and then he doesn't guard so he gets hit with the move. As long as you don't drop your input you'll win by doing the exact same thing. Just have to time the backdash to happen just as he's getting up. If you have Rugal in the back, his lvl 1 laser super is obviously easiest option since he doesn't block that either. Other than Rugal, a grappler like Shermie or Clark also work as anchor because once you're cornered, an ex grab is confirmed to hit because he won't jump and you can go for the maximum combo damage.
One way to cheese this boss fight is using Isla and spam drips backward (air, qcb + low kick/A) as Goenitz gets back up. He never rolls to recover or does anthing else, so you can time it right to get an infinite and beat him without getting hit once.
It took me like 50 tries, i ended up beating him with Shermie, Clark, and Rugal with the same Super strategy that you used. He was WAY harder than Rugal dude, SNK heard everyone loud and clear with this boss lol
You did well. It took me much more tries. Then i found he's totally unable to defend against crossups, so geese's dp is enough to kill him. Also, Sylvie's qcb+k hits often, then he tries to grab with his super throw, but you're still in the air and he misses! 😂
Ok, you know, I was already there in '96... Caused me nightmares back then... And everything came back to my mind with this Boss mode ! 😄 But, anyway, I stuck to my eternal team to beat him down : Terry Andy and Joe... 1h10 to beat him !! It was a pleasure, SNK, thank you for remembering such crazyness with this guy ! 🤣
it is 1996 and the next KOF game just came out in the arcades easily reached the boss only for Goenitz to destroy me and a few dozen quarters later finally managed to beat his ass.
Imagine if orochi is introduced as 3rd free boss dlc with Boss challenge that has a Pathetic extreme ai that will destroy any matter surrounding it for extremely hardest
Cannon Orochi is way harder than what we got in 97, so yeah, it would be fun (although, judging by some endings, they are keeping Orochi for a next KoF it seems).
Rugal takes about 30 minutes to slap in boss challenge these days. Also, I learned I can turn his boss moves against him with reflectors. Goenitz takes twice that long to beat. That being said, ironically Rugal of all people can put him in a loop (Violent Ray and 2D with good timing) and Orochi Chris' projectile is a boss buster of its own. I'm glad they made balanced versions so I can scare people with them (especially since I've just been SNK Boss Syndrome main-ing the entire time.
Maximilian Dood and Justin Wong. Those two are responsible for this, both of them are very influential and voiced the easyness of kof bosses. We need to held them responsible
Not sure on Wong but Max has avoided it or at least it appears so Took me an hour and a half to learn his pattern. Tried the old 96 trick and it actually works but it's high risk since u have to be aggressive to go for the hits.
Who asked for this you say? I mean collectively we did, and we can't blame SNK for it, it was like a wish from a monkey's paw, we didn't knew how to properly ask for said wish and paid for it. Truly magnificent, 10/10 will want to get destroyed again with future bosses.
SNK boss are meant to be cheap... All fighting game bosses, really. SNK's end bosses were a hallmark of the genre, until they start "tournament balancing" everything to be the homogenised and watered-down games we see today.

Honestly, it took me eight tries to beat him by being cheap with Rugal. I won't lie. I have been rusty after not playing for a few months but good lord, he's harder than I remember
I think what makes him now one of the worst (in a good way) boss fight is that not only does he have the cheapness of the 90s. He has the full capability chain combo you into a super. Correct me if I'm wrong, but back then I don't think there was a boss who can mix up moves and shaves off 75℅ of your health with full combo. Usually it's just a single move or two
No, they didn't. Most of their combos came out accidentally. Like Orochi's fire ball into return into nothingness super. Goenitz wasn't this cheap in 96, and didn't have these combos nor these many supers.
I tried earlier today and oh no ... He juggled my team like a bunch of bowling pins. How can he get across full screen with his supers!!?!?!?? Just when i thought the combo was over too. I was an inch off the ground and he supers to K.O. I'm not winning anytime soon lol

They brought Hibiki to Samurai Shodown. But I agree that Moriya is a pretty cool character.

That over aggressiveness is a double edged sword. Now that I think about it, Geese could have been a nice match up against him with his parries.

While I was playing I found a very useful but somewhat strict cheese strat and that is hit Goenitz with terry’s heavy crack shoot then immediately dp rising tackle it works a good amount of the time
You know Goenitz's Koku Deska, it reminds me a lot of Dormammu's Purification so I assume any dormammu mains will feel right at home playing as Goenitz
I really like the way you figured out some tricks and exploits. That's kind of the fun of bosses like this. It's fun seeing an experienced player give it a try. You could have used the reset though. If you eat a super before you can land a hit on the first character, just reset. There's no loading when you do.
The only two true counter to this boss is Isla lol. If you do backdash and cancel it into her quarter-circle back light kick overhead move, he gets hit always. Basically he will charge towards you reading your backdash input and then he doesn't guard so he gets hit with the move. As long as you don't drop your input you'll win by doing the exact same thing. Just have to time the backdash to happen just as he's getting up. If you have Rugal in the back, his lvl 1 laser super is obviously easiest option since he doesn't block that either. Other than Rugal, a grappler like Shermie or Clark also work as anchor because once you're cornered, an ex grab is confirmed to hit because he won't jump and you can go for the maximum combo damage.
One way to cheese this boss fight is using Isla and spam drips backward (air, qcb + low kick/A) as Goenitz gets back up. He never rolls to recover or does anthing else, so you can time it right to get an infinite and beat him without getting hit once.
I had ash crimson go last with full super meter stock , make goenitz jump over his green ball super and

It took me like 50 tries, i ended up beating him with Shermie, Clark, and Rugal with the same Super strategy that you used. He was WAY harder than Rugal dude, SNK heard everyone loud and clear with this boss lol

You know... out of all KOF great players, for ET to take nearly 30 minutes to defeat him, really tells you something about how STRONG this Goenitz is
You did well. It took me much more tries.
Then i found he's totally unable to defend against crossups, so geese's dp is enough to kill him.
Also, Sylvie's qcb+k hits often, then he tries to grab with his super throw, but you're still in the air and he misses! 😂

But, anyway, I stuck to my eternal team to beat him down : Terry Andy and Joe... 1h10 to beat him !! It was a pleasure, SNK, thank you for remembering such crazyness with this guy ! 🤣

I managed to do some, but most of the time his teleport is too fast for me to react to.

it is 1996 and the next KOF game just came out in the arcades easily reached the boss only for Goenitz to destroy me and a few dozen quarters later finally managed to beat his ass.
Imagine if orochi is introduced as 3rd free boss dlc with Boss challenge that has a Pathetic extreme ai that will destroy any matter surrounding it for extremely hardest
Cannon Orochi is way harder than what we got in 97, so yeah, it would be fun (although, judging by some endings, they are keeping Orochi for a next KoF it seems).
Rugal takes about 30 minutes to slap in boss challenge these days. Also, I learned I can turn his boss moves against him with reflectors.
Goenitz takes twice that long to beat. That being said, ironically Rugal of all people can put him in a loop (Violent Ray and 2D with good timing) and Orochi Chris' projectile is a boss buster of its own.
I'm glad they made balanced versions so I can scare people with them (especially since I've just been SNK Boss Syndrome main-ing the entire time.
Maximilian Dood and Justin Wong. Those two are responsible for this, both of them are very influential and voiced the easyness of kof bosses. We need to held them responsible

Took me an hour and a half to learn his pattern. Tried the old 96 trick and it actually works but it's high risk since u have to be aggressive to go for the hits.

I mean collectively we did, and we can't blame SNK for it, it was like a wish from a monkey's paw, we didn't knew how to properly ask for said wish and paid for it.
Truly magnificent, 10/10 will want to get destroyed again with future bosses.
SNK boss are meant to be cheap... All fighting game bosses, really. SNK's end bosses were a hallmark of the genre, until they start "tournament balancing" everything to be the homogenised and watered-down games we see today.

There are bosses in games that aren’t too bad like Shin Akuma. And then there’s this guy. Hell even God Rugal in CVSNK2 wasn’t nearly as bad.

You could have fired 3 lasers with 2 meters by using raw max with rugal.

I think what makes him now one of the worst (in a good way) boss fight is that not only does he have the cheapness of the 90s. He has the full capability chain combo you into a super. Correct me if I'm wrong, but back then I don't think there was a boss who can mix up moves and shaves off 75℅ of your health with full combo. Usually it's just a single move or two
No, they didn't. Most of their combos came out accidentally. Like Orochi's fire ball into return into nothingness super. Goenitz wasn't this cheap in 96, and didn't have these combos nor these many supers.

Every KOF boss fight has a way to cheese the AI (except for Krizalid, I think), we just need to find it
Krizalid also has an exploit: Benimaru! His sweeps were actually good against him
He was a sucker for short ranged projectiles when cornered. Shingo and Leona also had a ridiculously easy tactic for taking him out.

I tried earlier today and oh no ... He juggled my team like a bunch of bowling pins. How can he get across full screen with his supers!!?!?!?? Just when i thought the combo was over too. I was an inch off the ground and he supers to K.O.

i tried Kyo, and i realized that he dont block most of his special attacks, of course i finished him using rugal with 5 max charges
