    Thank you for having this succinct review which probably covers all aspects from consumer point of view, and after watching this I just go for DELL 5401, now typing on it!
    In Taiwan the Aluminum case is a customized option which takes two weeks of time so I remain with the synthetic plastic (?) model. 16 GB RAM, 1TB ssd, with MX150, price falls at 1780 USD.

    Good sum up comparison....but...you mention (7:24) the Dell Latitude 7400 will only take 16GB RAM, but the spec sheet on the dell site says it will take up to 32GB RAM, and you can add this in the customisation page of the laptop also - currently for an extra price tag of $AUD374.

      Hi Dustin McClung, welcome to my videos. You are so right on the Latitude 7400, it is max 32GB Ram I will admend that in the notes. Thank you for that, I don't know what I was doing when checking the specs of the computer. Might have got too many tabs open and got myself confused lol, sorry about that but thank you again for correcting the proper information =).

    Good point on about the weight diff between the materials. I don't see Dell listing that anywhere on my local site.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Ian Ccc, a lot of time the manufactures like to hide the information about weight as it really depends on how the client specs the computer. Getting the different materials is usually listed under the Display options (when you choose the screen type) and it's usually coded so you need to look for these letters, AL (Aluminum) CF (Carbon Fiber) if not listed then its just usually PA (Plastic). Also some countries Dell website won't list it out but you can ring sales up and ask.

    Amazing video, my work provided me with the i5 variant with 8gb memory and it's so shit, so when they offered me the high spec 7400 or the 5401 I ended up on this video.
    You made it VERY clear which one is superior, there's 1 point I disagree on though, the aluminium chassis, it looks nice, but it's horrible to work with for prolonged periods because the heat transfers into the chassis, so you end up with sweaty hands and wrists.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cheers Xeonzs, thank you for the wonderful feedback. The aim was to make pretty easy to understand which to go for if presented the lucky choice like your situation. As I am assessing the new Latitude 5411 and 7411 it's actually less significant now, Dell has improved the 7410 a bit (sorry spoiler for possible future video). You are right in about heat transfers on the aluminium chassis, but I do say in terms of aging the aluminium feel last the longest if one was to keep for long period of time.

      Looks to be simple workload just needs to be portable and take good average travel abuse. The 7300 will be good selection, I do prefer it over the Lenovo x280 or x390 just because the display on the 7300 is nicer and has less bezel.

    • @BsianTech

      Number of factors but the main ones are the exchange rates and also the taxes in Australia that bring the prices of the products unfortunately.

    Can i know Latitude 7400 Coil whine and Fan Noise?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean the actual sound or my opinion on each sound? I personally think the 7400 has higher pitch whine to the Fan and also the 7400 tends to surprisingly still likes to spin up its fan way more when it’s connected to the dock compare to the 5401.

    • @pontram
      @pontram 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BsianTech Coil whine is a very high frequency noise you may hear only in a silent room while working with the laptop. On my Latitude 5470 It usually occurs while browsing the internet or generally with abrupt changing screen contrast, colors etc. I would say it is about 12-15 khz, similiar to the old CRT TVs. While it doesn't occur on all exemplars of a model, it is often typical for many of them. So, Latitude 5470 have it more often than Precision 5520, for instance.
      Since I have my Laptop usually with closed lid in the Dock, I don't notice it except in a hotel room in the evening.

    • @Xeonzs
      @Xeonzs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No coil whine, but fan noise is very audible when under heavy workloads, overall they're pretty quiet though.

    • @infoview4
      @infoview4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Xeonzs ah ha, when under heavy workloads? For example?

    • @pontram
      @pontram 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@infoview4 Heavy workload can mean one Core is running continuosly at 80-100%. On a quad-core (4 physical + 4 virtual) you are then at abut 12-14 % overall (depending on what is running parallel). This would heat the CPU towards its limits on a small laptop. You can have this easily by compressing a large video into a zip (7 zip allows multicore operation too).

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry Javokhirbek Erkinov when I referred to similar in spec wise I meant, both are i7 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD and just intergrated graphics. I do know that the U model is the power saving processor for mobile category and the H model is for desktop. The performance between the two is quite different but as you can see near the end of the video the pricing of the two you could compare since they so similar.

    As I can see comparing th-cam.com/video/VADXFXbvYjk/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/1eoJXYFYMVM/w-d-xo.html the i7-9850H is a strong winner in the multi-core tests (+2 cores makes a difference), however its single core performance seems to be on par with i5-9400H (in your previous video the i5-9400H showed 181 points vs 177 of i7-9850H).

      Wow I didn't know you can link to certain time section of youtube how kewl is that, always learn something new every day.
      Vitaliy Khudenko I realised that too in the two videos the score is different, interesting enough if you run the test again it will give different score but its similar. I have never been a benchmark number person. I can tell you in the two videos the Latitude 5401 i7 units were two different units not the same one (different serial numbers but same speced up). I think what I might do for future videos is I will run the test 5 times and take an average of it, that be more fairer. The i7-9850H is clear winner but its so good to see the i5-9400H performing so well even with two less cores.
