5:15 you do actually see the bridge from the top very briefly when the match starts. When a player DCs right at the start of a match you get to see the top of the bridge for a little longer :)
Cap'n Cuttlefish's torso is likely modeled because it was visible in his outfits from Splatoon 1 & 2. I assume some of the models are just edited from game to game as opposed to being completely reworked.
8:05 is an excellent example of how to deal with complexity in software engineering while keeping a good amount of features. Having a visible and invisible track section is an unnecessary complex implementation (which can be prone to bugs and make performance unstable), instead simply bending the track around at the ends to loop back into itself is a clever way to deal with this. This may look weird, but all the train does is follow the track. They made it fully continuous. Very elegant.

splatoon games always have alot of stuff that players cant see that helps so much with world building (all of the stages in splatoon 1 were interconnected) and im glad they went out of the way to do stuff like this
Some things I'd like to add. The jukebox is called "Obj_LobbyMusicSelector," which when paired with WHERE it's found indicates that this Jukebox was meant to allow players to change the music in the Lobby. The Fuzzy Ooze Inkling thing could have been shown off MUCH better if you used an actual model viewer. The models are VERY easy to find online and using something like Blender would allow people to see better how the fuzz effect was created, mostly for those with little to no knowledge on 3D modeling.
I'm late in my response to your comment, but I don't think showing off the Fuzzy Ooze Inkling in a model viewer would've been viable. The hair cards are rendered in-engine with a shader (as is all of the fuzzy ooze and mammalian characters, including Mr. Grizz), so the Fuzzy Ooze Inkling's fur would appear _smooth_ in external model viewing software. You'd have to reconstruct the effect from scratch, and by that point it'd go from showing off how Nintendo achieved the effect to demonstrating how to replicate it. Seems like there have been some attempts at cracking how to render the fur shaders accurately in Blender (i.e. the SquidNodes plugin), but I haven't found any public releases for any of this stuff yet.

The Sea Scrolls are hidden collectibles that offer more lore and world building when found, and this particular one shows the first Squidbeak Splatoon, the predecessor to the New Squidbeak Splatoon that the player joins in the story mode. Ammoses Shellendorf, Sheldon’s grandfather, was part of this unit.

Comment to the thing around 8:20: at one point in the original Half-Life there was a moment with barrels going down a toxic waste thingy where you have to climb across pipes and the barrels were going on a loop and VALV^(E) essentially carved a tunnel for the barrels to continue their loop. Though, I can not find what map it was on and am purely going by a Reddit post I once saw, I tried looking for it but forgot which map it was on, sorry.
Okay, just remembered where it was (at the end of Blast Pit) and yes, there is a tunnel for the barrels to go round in a loop just like the tram system.

Listen. I'm not trying to get gushy so I'll make this quick. What you do in video games is the thing that I've wanted to do my whole life. I love the feeling of what's behind that locked door that locked door and will there be Something there ... and the fact that you've made your channel revolve around this I come here on every video. Love it! Thank you for what you do. Please don't quit!!
"the gang going hunting" at 7:20 is actually a scroll from splatoon 1 that depicts the first squeekbeak splatoon in the great octarian war
"just the gang going hunting"
THAT'S THE GODDAMB SQUIDBEAK SPLATOON. THATS WHO YHE GAME IS NAMED AFTER
7:24 OHH that means Sheldon really admires his grandfather, like a lot. Makes me wonder if Ammoses is still alive
that's a sunken scroll picture from an older game i believe of the original squidbeak splatoon, the inkling with his arms crossed is Cap'n Cuttlefish back when he was a second lieutenant
Ooh, cool! I haven’t played much of Splatoon, so as much as this all confuses me I also enjoy seeing the creativity and hidden details!
(1:05) Months after uploading this video, some fans pointed out that the jukebox will likely appear in the (as of posting this comment) Fresh Season update!
(1:41) That looks like it was from a beta build of the game before the development team decided to change the screen image.
(3:23) I'm thinking it was a placeholder or placement marker.
Yes! Splatoon 3 is so much fun, thank you for breaking the boundaries on it!
Glad you enjoy it!
Prepare for verbal beatdown from series fans, Shesez. There were so many details you have missed and/or mistaken.
7:23 the image on the right is a newspaper with sheldons ancestor on it. The news is presumed to regard the great turf war, incase your intrested
7:25 not hunting
That is the Squidbeak Splatoon in the Great Turf War. Ammoses Shellendorf (Sheldon's (grandfather?)) on the left, and Captain Cuttlefish to his right
10:10 not just extra geometry, the main body of fur uses a parallax corrected shader for more detail
in the lobby the giant curved screen is a ninendo switch, you can see the joycon grooves, usbc ports, and kickstand from the ground
This was a super cool video to watch, thank you so much for breaking those boundaries so we can check out all those hidden details, especially on Inkblot art academy.
I was curious if you could do a boundary break during splatfest. In the side alleyways there are night street food vendors that only show up at this time and I was curious if there are any hidden details inside their shops. Also I was wondering if there was anything actually inside their shops when they're closed during every other time when it's not splatfest.
the crack in the dome is there from the beginning of the story mode
7:24 HUNTING?! It's a photo of captain cuttlefish and sheldon's grandfather after winning the Grand Turf War!
7:18
That’s actually a page from one of the sunken scrolls from Splatoon 1, which shows Sheldon, Cuttlefish and Judd during the Great Turf War.
8:15 average train ride in ohio
6:54 very cool how we have those same eyes in character creation, also i notice the enemy octolings have a similar face to playable ones
Tiny Sheldon is adorable 😍
Love the intro animation.
looks like our jukebox friend came back into the final game
This is my first time watching your channel, and I just wanna say that intro IS FIREE
@9:03 I love how his hat looks like a horseshoe crab! IMHO horseshoe crabs are actually surviving trilobites. Great video even though I've never played this game.
4:35 the bombs might be there to load in an animation of the bomb being eaten (like salmon run)
edit: wrong time
The footage used for the disclaimer is perfect.
3:20 Kensa inkling and octoling keychains?
It’s real Merch! Also it’s in harmony’s shop, I own 8 inklings by accident…
shesez when sheldon has a newspaper cutting of the squidbeak splatoon (which he used to be in) from the sunken scrolls of s1: the gang r going hunting :)
Great episode as always! Hope it gets the traction it deserves soon 🥰
I've honestly never even played a Splatoon game, but I still found this video as interesting as always even though I had no clue what half of this stuff was 😂 i just love these behind the scenes looks at games, the creation of these games has always been so intriguing to me. Keep it up 🤘♥️
Comment to the thing around 8:20: at one point in the original Half-Life there was a moment with barrels going down a toxic waste thingy where you have to climb across pipes and the barrels were going on a loop and VALV^(E) essentially carved a tunnel for the barrels to continue their loop.
6:50 god i love this Song!
7:21
They're not camping... this is an image of the original squidbeak splatoon during the great turf war!
6:01 his torso being molded is for when he and sh octavio have a 20 minute sex cutscene it’s a secret tho so don’t tell
6:31 MEAT
I love Boundary break! This is awesome!
7:20 in that old newspaper article did you know that that was a sunken scroll in splatoon 1 story mode?
One thing about the crack in the alterna
I was playing like three months ago almost to the end of hero mode and I looked up and then I saw it a crack
…shivers eye is shown when she strokes here hair to the side after laughing about one of them deep cut jokes and if you pay attention you will notice that…
7:14 you should’ve looked at the map
