Clutter collects so easily that I must do regularly scheduled decluttering sessions to keep things in check. I''ll probably to do something like this ever 3 to 6 months to keep things minimal!!
Have you ever considered a “no buy year” you don’t have to do a whole year.. but I like to do little no buy sessions.. it makes it really obvious what to declutter after a no buy session, because it forces you to use what’s in your life already and come face to face with what you actually love and use and what you think you need but never actually use.
I’ve done this and it is soooo eye opening! I find for myself a no buy category is more realistic than straight across the board no buy. My last no buy was skin care and body care… thought it would be a couple months till I needed to buy something because I ran out but omg it’s almost been 2 years 🤦♀️ I’ve used up a mass of sample packs, travel sizes, skin care etc it’s unreal. I had no idea how much I really had because it was so hyper organized thought all was good and decent. Boy was I wrong. Only thing I’ve had to buy recently was body wash, deodorant and toothpaste. I still think it will be some months before I have to buy any skin care or hair care. I’ve vowed to never have “back ups” again or to buy something just because it’s new or interesting. If I don’t actually need it to use in the next 24hrs I’m not buying it!
@@Jen-zk9se the only thing I have a backup for is toilet paper 😂 I even try to use my travel sizes up before buying more products.. like why buy a travel size toothpaste and only use half of vacation, and then let the rest of it sit opened for another year and a half or so.. no use that shit right away..
@@TheCarlaProject a month might be a little ambitious if you’ve never done it before.. I started with a week, and then two weeks, and so on until I did an entire year.. but at first a couple weeks was really challenging, because I never thought about how much shopping takes up my time… just the amount of time I spent browsing target only to buy a bag of chips.. it’s a lot to get used too

Samson is literally like "mom! Declutter this cone! Mom! I want to declutter this cone! I'm helping! This cone can go bye!" 🤣 Isn't it crazy how quickly the extra stuff piles up? Especially packaging and paper! They're little and just get lost, then when it's gone it feels so clean and organized! 💞
Love your decluttering videos! I totally support counting each individual item no matter how small. I keep a log of everything i declutter throughout the year so i can look back at my progress. 657 for 2022 so far 😅
Me, too! It encourages me when I feel I'm not making progress, or that the progress isn't fast enough. The perspective over time really helps. 'Cause it can take a while to make an obvious dent in our clutter, depending on how much we've accumulated. My tracker reminds me I'm moving in the right direction.
One of the things that has REALLY helped me in watching your videos (aside from the dopamine boost that IS Samson, poor baby) is getting back to a feeling of PRIDE in how very much I have accomplished, mostly by myself, these last six months. This was just what I needed. You inspired me to get rid of over 60 things. If you do another one, I bet I could easily get rid of 50 more. Now I just need to get them out of my possession 😅
You did a great job! I am not the problem, it's my husband. I have to sneak old magazines out otherwise he won't let them go. He never notices the pile never gets bigger.
I keep only a “few” jars to make jam in the fall, or pickled onions. I make overnight vegan oats for me and hubz or chia soygurt. If the jar is not completely clean and has its perfect lid, it’s off to recycle heaven…
I literally started one of these yesterday….and carried on today …it feels good these smaller declutter so less stressful and feel so tidy and more organised afterwards🤗 I have now though decided to scan lots of old photos so i can get rid of old photo albums…that will take a little more time😂🤣😉🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
yes! i did a mini declutter yesterday. only two small items: one cabinet in the bathroom and one set of drawers in the office. did not even get rid of much, maybe 10 items max, and moved some stuff around. already makes a big difference, physically as well as mentally. i don't have that much clutter, my house is tiny, but my closet and jewelry definitely needs some attention but is a bigger task to i am collecting small victories to get some courage. mostly i think whats keeping me form doing it is i need to find somewhere to donate or sell stuff. i cannot bear to just throw clothes and jewery out
You could donate the clothing and jewelry to an organization that helps women with outfits for job interviews. Dress for success is the name of the one in the state were I live. Or maybe try a women shelter..
I just want to say: I am so thrilled for you to be able to get into a mini-declutter mode. I tried that and it really works for me. I call it micro-organizing, but frankly - mini-declutter is more accurate. Still in the GROI* mode. *Madonna introduced me to that phrase: Get Rid of It. :) That one stuck with me. :)
Scanning documents, paperwork, etc and then shedding has been a big issue for myself. I've been decluttering clothes but like I have a hard time getting rid of them also. I'm always thinking I'll loose the weight to fit them again. I'm horrible when it comes to dieting and follow though. Anywho you make decluttering look so easy I'll admit I'm a little envious.
This is a good challenge to get started. 50 items. out the door. And if you do it once a week for a year...that's a big dent! But yes...paper I am still working on!! xo
I got into signing up for samples kick. I had a lot of shampoo and conditioner samples, I didn't want to waste them because they were"nice". I went through them all and poured all of the shampoo and conditioner samples into a partial bottle of shampoo. That got rid of the clutter and it made a fantastic shampoo.
I'm on the East coast watching this video in bed this 4th of July morning -- great motivation! This is what I have to do today! Liberate myself from more clutter as I prepare for an upcoming move! PS - I love my jar collection too, and it also makes me happy! 🙂

I keep only a “few” jars to make jam in the fall, or pickled onions. I make overnight vegan oats for me and hubz or chia soygurt. If the jar is not completely clean and has its perfect lid, it’s off to recycle heaven…
I literally started one of these yesterday….and carried on today …it feels good these smaller declutter so less stressful and feel so tidy and more organised afterwards🤗 I have now though decided to scan lots of old photos so i can get rid of old photo albums…that will take a little more time😂🤣😉🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
that is next level and a true project...photo scanning 😂!! kudos to you jane!! xo
yes! i did a mini declutter yesterday. only two small items: one cabinet in the bathroom and one set of drawers in the office. did not even get rid of much, maybe 10 items max, and moved some stuff around. already makes a big difference, physically as well as mentally. i don't have that much clutter, my house is tiny, but my closet and jewelry definitely needs some attention but is a bigger task to i am collecting small victories to get some courage. mostly i think whats keeping me form doing it is i need to find somewhere to donate or sell stuff. i cannot bear to just throw clothes and jewery out
You could donate the clothing and jewelry to an organization that helps women with outfits for job interviews. Dress for success is the name of the one in the state were I live. Or maybe try a women shelter..
Another great spot to donate is the local hospice thrift store. Many have them. Great cause.
That one stuck with me. :)
Great job beautiful!!!
Poor baby Soo handsome as always.
But yes...paper I am still working on!! xo
Love the sound of this challenge, I am inspired to do the same 💞
every time you say Samson it reminds me of the 80s film Class Reunion 😊. Hi from London and love your videos ❤
i might have to watch this 😂❤️
This was great, I loved it. You got rid of a lot, it’s crazy the amount we can get rid of even if it’s just trash.
And I had a broken clothing steamer and old curtain liner too. Things have to be edited constantly 💗
I just sat down while watching this and took you with me and grabbed a box full of donations !
always love to hear this!! xoxo
This inspired me so much, thank you for sharing. I'm trying to achieve that "light feeling" that happens from decluttering, too!
Will do it this week, thanks Carla 😊.
I honestly jumped to end video just to see after pictures and say great job! I want to duplicate this.
I'm on the East coast watching this video in bed this 4th of July morning -- great motivation! This is what I have to do today! Liberate myself from more clutter as I prepare for an upcoming move!
PS - I love my jar collection too, and it also makes me happy! 🙂
Hahah yep!! And I love giving people things in jars too. I baked cookies for my neighbor and they were extra cute stacked in a jar 😍
@@TheCarlaProject I was helping my mom clean out her house - she's what I call the "organized hoarder" you can't see it ... but I found an old glass jar of Dippity-Do! Do you remember that gel for the hair? I kept it!! It holds my hair ties!! 😂
Samson when you open the casetify box 🤩 and at the top of the stairs 🤣
Lol he’s so funny 😆
Challenges make things more fun . Set timers if you must.
I love a good challenge!! So motivating right!
That was a lot of work! Im exhausted.
What is wrong with Sampson?
I went thru my paperwork bins Friday evening. Half a trash bag of trash. Today I went thru ten of my twelve fabric bins. I am down to ten now.
Flylady recommends a Declutter Fling Boogie where you put on a song like Please Release Me Let Me Go, and Fling all the clutter stuff into a bag to toss or donate. Her book is called Sink Reflections. Good read! She has videos too. Clutter is stuff that gets in the way of fun!
Trash or donate. Simple to follow with only two options and so effective (especially after organizing all the stuff being kept).☺️
I lived through power cuts back in the 70’s due to the miners strikes....ever since...I never get rid of candles. I have quite a few candlesticks too....it looks like we will be needing them again soon the way things are going! What’s happened to the lovely Sampson?? xx
omg Carla! I have a problem with bummy shirts....and FREE SHIRTS!!! someone call the fashion police
yea free is a hard one for me too 😂
I found 25 things to get rid of in the small area i was working in. They were all neatly stored but were basically clutter. 25 more to go!
