Great memories. I was there when the Transcontinental funny car wiped out in the lights, lot of familiar faces there! That's the old start line tower about half way down the strip - I'd slept on the ground floor of that.
Thanks for the upload nick. As an 11 year old boy at the 76 garlits meet,I can well remember following him to see how his trainer flopped on his 1/2 missing foot (I know the mind of a youngster). My dad was running in pro stock (Big John) then went on to be a Marshall and finally race director. The pod will always have happy memories for me (Allen's sad death aside) as I finished up as chief start line Marshall (trying to fill Stu Bradbury's shoes was not easy) in 1985. My best friend at the pod was the chief scrutineers son back in the late 70's and we would go ' bank walking' which involved walking the top of the spectator bank, looking for unopened beer can/ bottles that we could kick down the bank, then come back and collect😃 And the sweet shop on the pit side (the little white hut next to the pod shop) and look for dropped change in the stone/ gravel floor. Some times we even watched the racing 😲
Great video Nick. 👍👍👍👍 You do such a good job with these, the narrating and music is spot on!!! So glad I found your channel as it has become one of my favorites!!!
Yep, great to bring all that footage together. Got taken there in ‘76 and been my favourite place to be since then 👌
