It's the anime that most people hated, not the games themselves. It mostly stemmed from the anime writers dialing back Ash's competence and maturity all the way back to his beginner/Gen 1 roots... and this is despite the fact that he had recently came out of Sinnoh and its League at an impressive Top 4 position, getting beaten by a guy with Legendaries on his team, two, Darkrai and Latios, of which he took down with all six of his mons before losing. Yeah, they hit the big red "Reset" button on him pretty badly and the way the anime went didn't make it any better.
I didn't really dislike gen 5, I just kinda felt B&W were lackluster after gen 4. Yes gen 5 was _good_ but Diamond and HeartGold set my expectations extremely high and BW...didn't really live up to them. B2W2 did change my opinion of gen 5, but I only played through it for the first time last year; after BW I kind of lost interest in Pokemon for a few years until I got a 3DS and a copy of X. Gen 4 still remains my favorite gen.

I think that gen 4 and 5 were the most interesting games because the concept of what the villains were trying to do in gen 4 seemed insane(then again anything is possible in pokemon) and gen 5’s legendaries seemed to have the second most disastrous fights, seconded by Kyogre and Groudon since they most likely can make natural disasters on the fly. And the gen 5 concept of the Tao’s Yin and Yang was imo executed really well.
This reminds me of the ending of Pokémon xyz. That montage always makes me smile. It sucks it had to end, I didn’t realize that they used this piece in it until I was listening to the ost for b/w 2. Pretty awesome

Bit of personal history with this game, Pokemon Black 2 is what reignited my passion for the Pokemon franchise, straight up. Right around like...I think 10th grade in High School I had kind of fallen out of Pokemon briefly after essentially missing out on pretty much the majority of Gen 5 and only really hopping back in once Gen 6 and X/Y has released. Which while I certainly enjoyed my time with Y specifically, it's shortcomings honestly did kinda underwhelm me at the time, so wanting to experience what I had missed out on, I'd asked family members to get me a copy of Black 2 for Christmas... And no joke, I straight up got hooked even by Floccessy Ranch, I fell in love with it that early on, to the point I'd sneak my 3DS to school to play it more on bus rides and during lunch, lol. Hell, I consider this game so good that even Pokemon Emerald, my very first Pokemon game, was usurped as my number 1 favorite entry in the franchise. Anyway, to wrap up this freaking mountain of text, lol, Pokemon Black 2/White 2 are to this day some of my all time favorite RPG games.

the first few seconds of the B2W2 title theme is a retooling of the original Gojira theme from 1954. It only gets better too, the seamless switch to the main Pokémon theme is done incredibly, the orchestra is just perfect and it really gives you the feeling that this story is way bigger and magnificent than you might initially think. As a kid, these games were great, but after replaying them, you start to pick up on the nuances of the characters and the world you find yourself in. Every character is so detailed and has their own personality, Colress being a shining example, he’s introduced to us as the leader of Neo Plasma after Ghetsis was defeated in the first games, yet his character isn’t as black and white, he has good intentions, he wants to bring out the best in Pokémon. However, he will do this through any means necessary, and he means ANY means, even if it means borderline torture. It’s only after meeting Nate/ Rosa when he sees the potential that trust and friendship can have in achieving this goal. Even then, he only sees meaningful interactions with pokémon as nothing more than a means to an end. AND THATS JUST ONE CHARACTER, Unova is filled with deep characters and themes that are still relevant in Pokémon to this day. In all, B&W and B2W2 were some of the best pokémon games ever created
Though i started with gen 2, I have to say, gen 5 is the best by a long shot. Gen 5 had amazing graphics for a ds game, great music, great stories, and fantastic execution of all of thosa factors.
Imagine this as a possible tile screen for a remake of BW1+2, first 15 second, Black/White Kyurem, then as we get the original title theme, Reshiram/Zekrom against Black/White Kyreum, as they stare down each other. Reshiram/Zekrom represents BW1, Kyurem representing BW2

It only gets better too, the seamless switch to the main Pokémon theme is done incredibly, the orchestra is just perfect and it really gives you the feeling that this story is way bigger and magnificent than you might initially think. As a kid, these games were great, but after replaying them, you start to pick up on the nuances of the characters and the world you find yourself in. Every character is so detailed and has their own personality, Colress being a shining example, he’s introduced to us as the leader of Neo Plasma after Ghetsis was defeated in the first games, yet his character isn’t as black and white, he has good intentions, he wants to bring out the best in Pokémon. However, he will do this through any means necessary, and he means ANY means, even if it means borderline torture. It’s only after meeting Nate/ Rosa when he sees the potential that trust and friendship can have in achieving this goal. Even then, he only sees meaningful interactions with pokémon as nothing more than a means to an end. AND THATS JUST ONE CHARACTER, Unova is filled with deep characters and themes that are still relevant in Pokémon to this day. In all, B&W and B2W2 were some of the best pokémon games ever created

Though i started with gen 2, I have to say, gen 5 is the best by a long shot. Gen 5 had amazing graphics for a ds game, great music, great stories, and fantastic execution of all of thosa factors.
The S.E.A. ORAS is better

Imagine this as a possible tile screen for a remake of BW1+2, first 15 second, Black/White Kyurem, then as we get the original title theme, Reshiram/Zekrom against Black/White Kyreum, as they stare down each other. Reshiram/Zekrom represents BW1, Kyurem representing BW2
The opening theme of any pokémongame is one of those themes that always gives me chills!
