Yesterday we took our 7 year old son to Disneyland for the first time. It wound up being a day I will remember for the rest of my life and a lot of it was due to several of your videos that I watched beforehand. In particular, your How To Rope Drop Disneyland was so helpful. We did it and it worked out beautifully! Thank you so much for helping make yesterday a magical day for my little boy!
We were there yesterday and the rain made it an adventure, for sure. We brought rain jackets and umbrellas. I did feel bad for the folks who were towing soggy, unhappy children. The biggest downside for us was trying to find somewhere out of the rain to enjoy our meals. It’s a competitive sport finding a table because so much of the dining is not under a roof. ☔️
I was there! It was like we were all playing a game of chicken… are you gonna leave? No, are you gonna leave? No! The crowds TRULY didn’t seem to die down til 10 pm! 😯😯 It’s a day we’ll remember forever! Everyone was prepared, and it looked like there were a lot of families who knew what they were getting into. It was a sea of ponchos! We loved every minute of it and had the best day ever 😁😁
Hi from Houston TX! We have been to Disney World many times in the rain. After the months of planning, taking the vacation days from work to travel, we just had to grin and bear it. Going to Disneyland next year, so we will adapt if it rains, but for us, canceling or rescheduling is not an option. We’re used to the rain 😊
I watched your video on order of operations to maximize time on rides before going on this exact day and my siblings and I where able to ride 4 rides before 10 am at rope drop over at California Adventures. Following your order of: Souring through the world, incredacoaster, (toystory menia was closed) Guardian of the Galaxy, and web slingers. We beat the rain just in time to knock out a few rides. When the rain hit we went on the little mermaid and grizzly run by 11 am before heading to Disneyland. Thank you for the tips! I kept thinking I might run into you and was looking for my siblings and I in this video and we where waiting in line when you passed by mattahorn. Unfortunatly they closed it soon after you passed by due to the lighting.
We really appreciated your rope drop videos. They helped a lot.(We are only here for 3 days-first time ever.) I was amazed at the amount of folks that stayed at Disney in the pouring rain....It did not seem less crowded at all....
I was there all day yesterday & it was PACKED from rope drop till close despite the rain. It was raining relatively hard late afternoon-early evening & ppl didn’t care 😂 i will say tho the tip board was quite wrong the whole day idk if it was bc some ppl would leave the outdoor queues & move to other cues when it would rain or what but most queues were either way faster (like 20+ minutes faster than what the tip board says) or way longer (like 30+ minutes longer). I honestly kinda liked the rain. Batuu’s skies looked insane when I got out of Rise I almost thought I was still looking at a very realistic screen!
Love how the day started at the train station packed and ended at the train station empty. We are planning on going in early Jan and while we are prepared it could be California's "rainy" season, we are from Vancouver, BC so we live in rain and are excited that we could deal with some warm rain. Loved this video, your videos are always fun to watch. Thank you so much and if we see you in Jan, we'll be sure to say Hi!
I was there yesterday, it was pretty terrible and still so crowded. I was so upset, because I had taken my mom and younger brother. Disneyland is too expensive for bad experiences :/
Love your videos as always!! But you need to get more about the guests who only get to go maybe every other year at the most perceptive about things. Thanks as always ❤
FreshBaked. David, Not many times a year do we see a rainy day at Disneyland but they are always fun. This time I almost thought it was going to rain on me just by watching. You were able to get us right up and personal with the rain. Cheers, Chris Perry.
We were there that day too and it was definitely very crowded, but wait times were all over the place! We waited maybe 15 minutes for pirates (which was great!), but when we got off the ride and started walking toward HM the line for pirates was all the way back to HM! I’ve never seen that before.
I was there yesterday and left when it started raining harder in the afternoon and there was thunder and lightning, I wanted to see the shows but they kept cancelling everything so I left.
I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday when I was there. Seeing everyone in their soaked tennis shoes made me think that they would go home early but boy I was wrong!
When Disneyland gets crowded, I always get into line no matter what the wait time is because I can't handle trying to navigate through the crowds on walkways.
David thank you for what you do with joy and laughter! I use to visit Disneyland once or twice a year. Family thought I was nuts, but I love the whole senario very much! So thanks for these precious memories🙏❣️
I'm so happy to see that old Pirates queue space is being used again! For some reason that was always my favorite part about waiting for Pirates. The calm from the treehouse and then knowing that just on the other side of that wall was the ride.
I once rode Matterhorn on a rainy day and the skies opened up and started pouring hard just as we started up the mountain. Every time we came out of the mountain it felt like bursting through a waterfall. We were so soaked after that ride.
I make a special appearance at 17:17! :) I was there that rainy day. Thunder Mountain became a water ride which was wild. Thankfully we stayed at the Anaheim Hotel nearby to dry off and warm up or else it would've been a miserable day. We went back to the park around 8:30pm and got on a record 10 rides. We sprinted to Space Mountain at midnight for one last hurrah! The crowds finally slowed down but not till much later than expected.
LOVE the walk and talks, but fastward the video on the rides. Like to save that for IN-PARK expieriance. I have been on all of them SO MANY times, but still want to keep it kinda 'fresh' (-hehe) when I got back to the park.
Great video!! The colors and resolution in Pirates was amazing!! Was the Jungle cruise open?? I believe Jane, the ostrich is a nod to the ostrich that was in the movie. One of the boys was riding it in a race against his brother. I think he was on a baby elephant?
That was definitely a crazy day!!😅 I was there too for most of the day and came back in the evening. We were SUPER prepared and have done Disneyland in pouring rain before, usually turns the park into a ghost town. The CROWD stuck around!! Also something worth mentioning, because of the thunder and lightning, more than half the rides were shutdown and closed for a few hours. You know it's bad when Pirates of the Caribbean turned into a 120 minute wait😱. Luckily We were shopping at Astro Blasters and a cast member warned us about what was going to happen- had reservations at Cafe Orleans and rode it out.
We will be there Saturday and Sunday and it's supposed to rain most of the day Saturday... was hoping for smaller crowds but it doesn't look like that will be the case. Oh well I'm still super excited about going to celebrate my Birthday!! Thanks David for your videos! 😜
Unsolicited tip from a local. Visit the park on the weekend. Disney sells heavily discounted weekday passes to California residents during that time of year. All the locals go during the week and the park is less crowded on the weekends. If you have to do a weekday make it a Friday or a Monday.

Aloha Dave..thanks for this rainy day video... I have been there on an unexpeted rainy day a few years ago in October and none of us had rain shoes...so we went down Harbor to some shoe store and took care of that..5 pairs of shoes later...the park was very Crowded..DCA was jammed too.. So now..sincw then..I bring a rain suit and shoes just in case..haven't needed them since! With DL it is just not a given it will be slow..I swear people think it's going to be a slow day and THAT is what brings locals out..if you've planned a vacation..you are just going. Once again on the Tree house..the sight lines suck! Thank you for this fun Video

Yep, and Disney used the covid nonsenses so people would really accept reservations and now if you don't/can't show up you are out of luck and Disney lines their pockets. Always been about $$$$$.
@@WindowtotheMagic No, the hospital where I worked didn't charge people if they didn't/couldn't not have a scheduled surgery. So Disney folks make a big effort to come especially in bad weather because if they don't they are tuff out of luck because there are no refunds. The worse part you pay upfront first so yea if you can't come for whatever reason Disney pockets the money. This reservation stuff and ordering on line is a $$$$ making operation for Disney -- and you thought it was done for safety reasons - wake up lol Learn the difference.
@@citticat2 You don’t actually think that your money spent on tickets just disappears when you skip a reservation, do you? Also, what does “tuff out of lock” mean? That’s a new one to me.
Love the insights I get from your videos. Your Rise of the Resistance video was very informative when you broke down wait times by queue section. Do you have similar info for other ride queues? We'll be there mid Dec and can use all the help we can get... THANKS!!
That's only for people that must have their fancy $8 Starbucks drinks. There are several places around the park where you can get a cup of coffee or a hot chocolate in a couple minutes.
I am so mad I didn't get to say hi but at 0:59 my son and I are freezing our butts off I'm in the black tank top shorts and sandals standing by the train
Dang, we didn't see you. It was very wet and cold and crowded. However, we went back at 8PM and got on every ride. Some multiple in 3 days. My feet hurt, and we still have today in DCA. OMG
Regarding the people who will wait 70 minutes in line for Matterhorn, it is possible that they don't have the option to go back the next day to ride it. Maybe they fly home tomorrow.
It's a term I use when talking about analyzing wait times etc. I watch and record how long things actually take rather than relying on the posted wait times

I was there yesterday from the time they opened. I did all my rides before it started to really rain. Then I ate and shopped!
We walked by you filming the Matterhorn line yesterday. Didn’t see you in time to call out. You look pretty fit!
You need to remember a lot of us don’t live in California. When we go to Disneyland no matter the weather, we are all in.
Yup, that was us! To me the crowds felt like vacationers, not locals. Lots of families

THANKS!!
Not yet but they're on the way
matterhorn was at 6 sleds on Tomorrowl;and side and 7 on Fantasyland side hence the long wait time
Lol, found myself in the crowd at 18:10 😅
45 minutes for a cup of coffee what an outrage
That's only for people that must have their fancy $8 Starbucks drinks. There are several places around the park where you can get a cup of coffee or a hot chocolate in a couple minutes.
I noticed that the cast members at the tree house are wearing Jungle Cruise uniforms.
Coming at you David … will be there thanksgiving weekend…,
I am so mad I didn't get to say hi but at 0:59 my son and I are freezing our butts off I'm in the black tank top shorts and sandals standing by the train
Dang, we didn't see you. It was very wet and cold and crowded. However, we went back at 8PM and got on every ride. Some multiple in 3 days. My feet hurt, and we still have today in DCA. OMG
Did they still have the fireworks and snow last night?
@sierramist3249 unfortunately not. Just projections no snow.
@@luvadventuresandartbummer, I was so sad to leave early because that’s all I wanted to see was the snow with my littles, but another day I suppose
@sierramist3249 I'm sorry we missed it, too. The projections were pretty, and we got on so many rides afterward. So tired hot tub time
New fashion trend poncho with Mickey Mouse ears.
The treehouse water wheel was not going! Is it broken already?
Hey Fresh Baked!!
Regarding the people who will wait 70 minutes in line for Matterhorn, it is possible that they don't have the option to go back the next day to ride it. Maybe they fly home tomorrow.
I didn't mean you should never read it lol. Just come back layer that day. When it's not 70 minutes. Which will definitely happen
@FreshBakedDisney just playing devils advocate. Haha. I only visit once every 12-18 months and wouldn't wait in a 70 minute Matterhorn ride 😂
hi! i always watch your videos and hear you say the term "recon" pardon my confusion but i'm so curious.. is that short for something 🤣🤣
re·con·nais·sance
/rēˈkänəs(ə)ns/
preliminary surveying or research.
"conducting client reconnaissance"
It's a term I use when talking about analyzing wait times etc. I watch and record how long things actually take rather than relying on the posted wait times
reconnoiter and/or reconnaissance
@@greg.murphy RECONNOITER is a great word! Nicely done!
re·con·noi·ter

make a military observation of (a region).
"they reconnoitered the beach some weeks before the landing"
I don't understand why reservation cancellations must be made day prior, when WDW cancellations can be made day of.
California poorly run state vs Florida efficient
I’d rather be at Disneyland in the rain than almost anywhere else.
I pray it won’t rain on the days of my vacation there.
