Here a simple truth about Cambodia history. Cambodia was a colony of Vietnam. The French took that away from the Vietnamese. The Vietnamese rebelled and expelled the French. The French handed the power to Norodom Sihanouk instead. Norodom Sihanouk started teaching Khmer language to Khmer again. When the Vietnamese return, they start destroying Khmer intellectual again, and the total destruction of whatever Sihanouk accomplishment.
