Since seeing, The Siege Of Mandalore, I took his seeming happiness in the opening moments of Revenge Of The Sith to be Anakin's optimism, now that Ahsoka had "returned", and that she was going to wage war on Mandalore w/ Bo Katan, to capture Darth Maul, while he and Obi-Wan were going to rescue The Chancellor and apprehend or kill General Grievous. He was also looking forward to reconnecting with Padme. It's true: Had Anakin been able to assist Ahsoka on Mandalore, and Order 66 never happened, Anakin would've been in the best possible situation; albeit, after finding out about Maul's plan, then taking that intel to The Jedi High Council via holo-message; which would've led to Palpatine's destruction. If only...

His wife was the key 🗝️ palpatine knew this, palpatine put the false visions in his head about his wife dieing in child birth, already setting up the abduction of his mother in attack of the clones, made this already emotion, much higher. Anakin Skywalker would have done anything to save his wife and child😔 sad really, kid was just 23 years old going through all this, to much on him , he snapped.
