@ WOEDE MAYA (NI HA, ZEMA YAN) Liberia's History is interesting at the same time convoluted. Miss Trudy did a good job on telling a brief history of Liberia but got a little confused when linking Liberia's history to America. America's History itself is complicated. Thanks Miss Trudy for the effort.

They are similar because America set it up for African Americans to have a place to return that will be somewhat familiar.
As big as the continent of Africa is, they didn't want us to have even one piece to develop in our own way.
The native Africans interfere took over and now it lacks any major African American leadership and influence.
We African Americans need to just purchase a island 🏝️ of our own and give both Africa and America the finger on our hand right next to the index.

@0:45 #1 is called giving DAP... it's an African American handshake. Very cool that it's in Liberia too given the history. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giving_dap
I often tell blacks in the diaspora who have ancestors who were enslaved that Liberia is our new home. It was founded by our ancestors for us to start over in Africa.
Liberia has a troubled history but I think it can become prosperous because of the newfound peace. I encourage all blacks in the diaspora who cannot directly trace their roots to a specific tribe in Africa to consider making Liberia their new home.

Liberia will never bounce back! Reason being they still are not free!! They have the slave mentality! They hate everything that is associated with their past during slavery in the USA! That is why Agriculture is on its knees in Liberia. They hate farming because tilling land is what the freed slaves used to do while in slavery..sort of farming has a connotation to slavery mindset!! Hence the free cannot farm!! Poor liberians!! How cannot you farm when Liberia has a lot of rainfall and so much arable land? Why does Liberia depend on the USA on everything including vegetables and canned meat!!! You can grow your own vegetables! You can grow your beef industry!! Liberia wake up!!
You have left the economy in the hands of Lebanese, you just dont want to try!!!

Hello Ms. Trudy. Thanks to you and Wade Maya for showcasing some of the beauties of Liberia. Most of the facts you presented about Liberia are true except for one that you probably weren't told by your guide. Liberia's highest banknote yet is a 500 denomination. However, Liberia's lawmakers have approved a request from the Central Bank of Liberia to print some banknotes in 1000 denomination. Hopefully, the next time you come back, you are gonna see that one, too. Thanks again for "Taking Africa to the World."

Beautiful sister, I love this video. Just one note, Marilyn Monroe was a Hollywood movie star - 8:22. The slave holder, George Washington was the first president of the United States.

Very polite way of letting her know that and catching it! I think James Monroe was the 5th president.
