Wow. Very similar to my "team" replica build of the first A.R.C. in October 1990. My bike celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Easton tapered aluminum tubing that debuted on the A.R.C. and the Doug Bradbury Manitou simultaneously.I remember that the frame and rigid Accutrax fork was $1750 or $1950 with the Manitou 1 suspension fork. XTR had not been introduced yet, so the bike was built with XT thumb shifters and Ritchey brake levers mounted on purple Answer bars. An Answer ATAC stem and a purple threaded King evolution headset connected to the first gen Manitou fork. Then all of the purple stuff, Cook Brothers crankset, Ringle seat post, skewers and anti chain suck thing, Critical Racing brakes, White Industries Ti bottom bracket and a Bullseye front hub. XT drivetrain and Mavic wheels. A $4200 masterpiece that I still have in fantastic condition.Things changed many times over the years but it still has the King Headset stripped of its purple anodized finish, and polished and the entire front wheel with the beautiful purple Bullseye hub. Hand built goodness to the core.
Gee Milner .. honestly it’d be great to see more now & again, such a classic and shows how far bikes have come, best thing I’ve watched in a long time, thank you!
Yeah, this one brought back some memories. It must have taken a while to get all those parts together. And no idea how you found a Tioga Disc Drive in that good of shape. Bravo, more of this please!

That was beautiful. Thank you for taking me back to a time where riding was artistic in all forms. A time where Ned Overend, Julie Furtado, John Tomac, Rishi Grewal, Hans Rey, and so many others helped to pioneer an already amazing sport and hobby. Grafton cranks, man, such memories! Ringle, need say more? Hyperlite bars, insanely tuff! Everything you placed on that unicorn, was the best of the best! Again, thank you for reminding me of a time when I was young, free, and inspired...
@@GeeMilner , started riding in the 90s, still have old magazines with photos of purple anodized everything! Those were the times! And that gorgeous Manitou, and the infamous tioga disc wheel.woohoo! Thanks a tonne for this Gee !
Guys, thank you for bringing back memories. Beauty and simplicity of classic bikes are phenomenal. I remember, I was drooling over such bikes in mid 90's coz could not afford a single part. Now, I have my own dream build - Nomad 4. It has taken some time but it proves that dreams come true. Thanks again from a Polish man in Scotland.
I love your Dream Build series in general, since I like wrenching on bikes almost as much as I like riding them, but this one really found me where I live. I remember being a kid and lusting after every single one of these components. In addition to being a beautifully-shot video, this is an amazing trip down memory lane. Thank you.
Am not surprised at all. Every 30 years fashion comes back around. I was 8 years old when this bike was new. So I can tell you these types of color schemes were common from the late 80s, up until the late 90s. Quite a gem you have there.
Very nice build, back in the day i used to drool over magazines with pictures of bikes like this YETI. I still own and ride my first proper mountain bike, a 93 TREK. Thanks for the video.
A classic bike reminds of the days when Yeti, Klein, Fat Chance, Moots, Raliegh USA and few others ruled MTB. Yeti made the most exotic bikes with Cook Bro's, Paul's Parts and Graffton anodised parts. Man I used to drool over that stuff. Love Yeti!! Great build, the ARC is an iconic bike within the YETI stable and in MTB.
Wow. Speechless! This was and still is my dream bike. First thing I'd hunt down if I had the cash. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Bout the only thing I'd change would be an Accu-Trax fork, Bullseye cranks and no disk wheel. Maybe a pair of clear Yeti grips as well. And a purple anno'd Hi-Rite, just to reference back even further. But that's just me. Damn that's sculpture. To this day, every time I see a teal painted bike that ain't a Yeti, my brow wrinkles with disdain. It's just subconscious.I've got a minty, period correct Troy Lee that would go nicely for that ride.
This reminds me so much of my first build. I had the same color ringle water bottle holder, quick release, seat post and stem, with purple Sun rims and Kooka cranks on a 94 Mongoose w a Mag 21! I even had that stupid purple thing by the bottom bracket that I forgot was for. This bike is even more purped out than mine was! Brought me back to 95!!
Very very nice. I have a 1993 Rocky Mountain Stratos I bought in 1993 and still ride today .... I put drop bars and a Brookes saddle on ... and matching red anodized bits and pieces .... old bikes are awesome
Dang - I had all the Ringle goodies on my ‘94ish Manitou hardtail. Love the intro with the Ringle Anti-chain suck bracket! I still got my Ti twisters some where....
Such a nice 90s retro, I still rock some color match stuff in my bike's and urge my clients to do so, it just gives bike that personality that has been lost over the years. Now you pretty much know what to expect on a new top end bike and there is nothing eye popping about them. We GOT to bring back the "make it look your own" thing to cycling again.
Dream build? I'll hear the sound of those BB cups being fitted in my nightmares. For the love of all things Ringle Holey, get the grease gun (and the BB prep tools!) out please! The bike is incredibly pretty and a lovely capture of a bygone era, but it's only fit for the wall assembled like that.
Wasn't there any grease back in the 90s? For example the BB seems very rough on that build. Also here and there too low Nm torque, for example the rear derailleur. I wonder where that guy got all these color matching parts. Not easy to have the same anodized tone. And all parts seem mint. Must have been a nightmare to find all these.
One of the most fascinating and satisfying dream build I've ever seen. This freaking 90s colors are so hot. I love the high level of attention of detail
Brings back nice memories. The Ringle parts display at my local B.shop and joy of getting some, think swapped some motocross stuff with a few quid for a stem once. Just stunning! PURPLE still rocks. Thanks
It's brings back a lot of memories from the '90, that's for sure. "Oh, I had that! And one of those! And those too!" Not gonna lie, I was hoping to see some Paul's Love Levers.
