      If I may add: the $2800 amount provided by Anandtech is plain wrong. They've converted the original 2999.00 euros ( www.caseking.de/detail/index/sArticle/52252 ) completely wrong. It should be something like $3390. No that an extra $590 would mean anything for those who'll buy this :D

      OK so. If AMD is shipping more AMD hardware. Then how do you figure Intel is outselling AMD in the other video. Because it sounds like AMD makes the most sales.

      I kinda wish they would allow a setup where 10 series cards in SLI could run better dxr, like one card doing ray tracing and the other doing the rest of the rendering

    Just a correction, Steve: Almost every price listing in the EU shows taxes included, so in the case of the 13000€ system, only shipping has to be added on top.

    • @Megalomaniakaal
      @Megalomaniakaal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yes, if you are from the EU and ordering it then sure. Importing the system to US would likely have indeed extra taxes on top though.

    • @Xackus
      @Xackus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      You can only show prices without tax if the listing is intended for businesses. Showing a price without tax to consumers could get you fined (for misleading customers and unfair competition).

    • @megapro125
      @megapro125 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Megalomaniakaal since you would subtract the EU taxes first (19% in germany where caseking is based) which are probably similar to the US taxes you would end up at avery close price. The shipping money is probably peanuts compared to the 13000€ price of the product.

    • @Megalomaniakaal
      @Megalomaniakaal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@megapro125 true enough though it might take extra effort on the buyers side to avoid the double taxation. Might be easier for consumers, though. And businesses would likely already be aware of what needs to be done to avoid it though.

      Both companies lie, or at least stretch the truth, all the time. I didn't say that they didn't either. I run AMD processors most of the time, including a FX-8350 Black about 5 years ago. I simply said that the comment was funny, because of the reference. However, I can proudly and happily say that I have NOT owned an Intel processor since my i7 4790k though. LOL 😊

I'm not looking to max out anything or overclock professionally. I'm looking to enjoy my PC experience and I get just that. Nice that you can actually upgrade Ryzen system without having to buy a motherboard. It's nice to just swap the CPU and not have to completely rebuild your PC. Still have my x370 went from a 1700x to a 2700x now waiting for 3000 series. Seems like Intel changes the socket a lot and just because a board has the correct socket type does not mean it will be compatible with all CPU's with that same socket type.

    • @Code-n-Flame
      @Code-n-Flame 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MrOgger151 well that's the kicker isn't it? AMD gave users 4 generations on AM4 because you were going to need them not because they were being nice. You went from Ryzen first gen, to second gen and are about to jump to third gen?
      I bought a 7700k two years ago and don't need to upgrade at all. Pushing my 2080 just fine with no bottleneck. Even Ryzen 2 is bottlenecking a 2070.
      So how much have you spent on CPUs in the last two year? Lots... If you had an Intel CPU you wouldn't have needed to upgrade so much.
      Not saying there's anything wrong with Ryzen or that you should be buying Intel. Ryzen is is great! But it's for the budget minded user. And budget parts result in more frequent upgrades because they don't last as long until they become the bottleneck in your system.
      Gonna be a rude awakening for all the people lining up for Navi. If it's as good as AMD makes it out to be a lot of first and second gen Ryzen CPUs are gonna end up on eBay for dirt cheap.

    • @emu071981
      @emu071981 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Code-n-Flame That's funny that you should claim that Ryzen 2 bottlenecks the 2070 as my 2700x is only bottlenecking my 2080 ti at low resolutions and that usually only means that I get like 250 fps instead of 300 fps at 1080p. I was going to buy a 9th gen Intel for my current system but they were charging 50% more for only a few percentage more FPS over a 2700x so I decided to save $200+ dollars and put that away for a potential upgrade to the 3700x if it is as good as it is rumoured to be.

    I have fond memories of learning Macromedia Driector and creating tiny Shockwave games. At the time web technologies just weren't advanced enough to do anything like that very easily. Alas Java, Flash, and Shockwave never hit all the buttons to take off. Java was a very powerful language with lots of libraries but without an animation system, Shockwave had an animation system and required very little CPU but created very large files (for the time). Flash made tiny files but was CPU hungry because it was constantly rasterizing vectors.
    My only hope now for a more resonable web application development platform is Web Assembly + WebGL. Maybe we'll finally be able to just write apps again without the overhead and complexity of a document object model.

    • @mduckernz
      @mduckernz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, webasm is awesome. I've done some experimentation with compiling Rust to WebAssembly. It's pretty magical to be able to emit webasm and JS (through TypeScript, which is what the Rust compiler emits for webasm fallback) from native code.
      It makes writing single page applications or just front-end heavy web apps MUCH easier and more reliable, as it means the data objects passed from the front end to the back end (also in Rust in my case) never get out of sync, and I always have type information, auto-completion, and integrated documentation.
      Aside from all of the convenience, the performance is breathtakingly good. WebGl hasn't been my jam but I would imagine that the two would go together very very well. I take it you want to render an app interface (or games) ? To bypass having to deal with a DOM and all that nonsense? If so, I understand, and think I would definitely like to see more of that in the Web. Perhaps the Promised Land really is just over the horizon now, at last :)
      I can strongly recommend it! Hope you try it out.

This opinion is based on research by Will Dormann, who goes on to say that Shockwave is architecturally flawed because it contains a separate version of the Flash runtime that is updated much less often than Flash itself. Additionally Krebs writes that "Shockwave has several modules that don’t opt in to trivial exploit mitigation techniques built into Microsoft Windows, such as SafeSEH."]*

      himynameistim I got 67 fps on my Titan Xp (Star Wars edition) on Fortnite... I do have one system that can run 100+ fps in 4k Ultra (100 in Crysis 3 4k Ultra vs 45 from the Titan), but I don’t think it supports the DP protocol for 120 Hz!
      It’s my 4x Fury build (doesn’t even have HDMI 2.0...). Hopefully they allow duel cables or something (it does fine running my 3x 4k 60 Hz, so it should work). Nvidia needs to allow 4x again, as it is, it’s not really an upgrade option for me (Vega VII doesn’t allow CF since it might hurt Instinct sales, and Vega 64 officially doesn’t support the 4x, though it probably would run anyways since I doubt the forcefully locked the consumers out like Nvidia did in Pascal and Newer with artificial locks).
      120Hz would be doable (I target for 240 fps in Fortnite due to input lag and consistency reasons, but it requires mixed medium/low), however it kind of kills the point of 4k, it kills the “Ultra amazing graphics” for me. I think 1440p 144+ Hz is the best gaming resolution, as a bonus, the monitors are affordable, and hardware exists that can actually run it! I’m out of desk space though.... I get 66hz overclocking my monitors though if that’s of any consolation!

    Sure tensor cores may be needed to properly do ray tracing, I'm sure AMD and others disagree and will prove that's not true but, let's assume that it's true that only tensor cores can properly do ray tracing that still leaves us with the tiny issue that nVidia didn't provide enough of those tensor cores on their product to make the feature usable to their primary market.

    Two topics this time around:
    ~ RTX Functionality on Pascal: As I do not have a Pascal series Quadro at my disposal to test with the new drivers, it would be nice to know if RTX functionality is capable of working with the Tesla P100 and Quadro P4000 to P6000 and GP100 cards, for if it does and it works extremely well, this might help out in prolonging their lifespan deep into the point where Nvidia, PNY, and Hewlett~Packard are no longer selling Pascal series Quadro and Tesla GPUs, effectively giving them purpose to purchase over their GeForce counterparts from that generation if money is not an obstacle and consumers don't want to get an RTX 4000 or Tesla T4 for the time being.
    ~ 9990XE: To know now that the 9990XE is no longer confined to the Auction Only market truly shows how important having 05 Gigahertz (Stable) on all cores is to the Consumer and Enthusiast base, this chip is easily one of the hottest and most brutally power consuming that Intel has released (after all, it is simply a heavily overclocked 9940X with extreme wattage and heating issues; wishfully Ice and Meteor Lake X will be significantly more bearable on the power draw here, Skylake was easily the worst of the current era when it came to ridiculous temps and TDP) and will be what'll hold over many people while they wait for Ice/Tiger/Alder and Meteor Lake to come along; the only problem that I worry about with the 9990XE though will be its overall supply, not because of the chip shortage at Intel, but because of Prebuilt Desktops that will have it, I can only imagine how much of these Intel will be pumping out on a normal basis before Skylake X is retired outright and if my worries on this are justifiably proven true, then the 9990XE could remain in a similar spot as the 5775C on Amazon at this time: Reasonably priced at launch, but only badly spiking in cost as it ages over time, effectively making it pointless to purchase when compared to a modern alternative (I can see the Meteor Lake~based 13900K and 13990XE easily being able to deliver far better results than the 9990XE in this regard, come 2023 and '24), it would be a shame if this were to happen but that is a very firm possibility under the current circumstances.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Asetech sold an AllInOne unit that could probably push it to 6Ghz. The Vapochill LS was a champ, but it’s kind of heavy and expensive (not really compared to most “extreme water cooling”, lol, I have to laugh at those). I’ve got mine testing long term effects on FX platform, -60c idle and core temp doesn’t exceed 0c under full load (block temp is -35c, the CPU doesn’t report lower than 0c so I’m not sure on the exact temp, just that it’s lower). It’s good for 24/7 on CPUs, I think with all the hot as Hell Intel chips that these would sell great if they made them again.
      You did ask for the best all in one, I wouldn’t use less on the 9900k. Might be difficult to find one though, don’t forget to actually read the manual or your chip may be dead in 20 minutes.

      @@dex32145 Long response, because it will answer almost any question you have (If you need a guide, post it in the comments on the video I linked). But basically, its noisier than a typical AIO (however my Titan Xp is like 3x louder, so you don't hear the phase cooler except at idle, and its not that loud, link below at the end showing mine in action, I was talking softly not to wake people, so it sounds louder in the video than it actually is). Its expense I feel is reasonable if you justified a $500+ CPU for gaming, lol! (I spend a lot too, I got a TR-1950x instead, barely cheaper, but I needed the PCIe lanes for running 4x crossfire so I could run 4k Ultra gaming. I also definitely use all 16 cores for workstation tasks! Its a champ!). You can use this on your next upgrade as well, its a cooler, so you just keep using it and keep taking advantage of its massive overclock potential.
      The cons:
      Risky (kind of), but so is overclocking (and like overclocking, you void your warranty).
      Heavy (if you move your PC around a lot for some reason, do note this will add about 40 pounds or 20 KG to your machine).
      Little bit of noise, but its really not much (if you can stand to be in the same room as a mechanical HDD, then you'll be fine... Normal HDD's drive me insane) and the phase sounds cool to me, its a low pitch hum/whine with occasional hissing and boiling sounds that is eerie and kind of spookie, but very cool sounding.
      Expensive (sometimes... I got mine for a steal, I recently paid $400 for a cup of copper for LN2 overclocking, and this daily phase cooler actually cost way LESS than that! Its actually not bad considering people spend like $100 on a radiator, and $50 on a CPU block, then $50 on a pump, then in all honesty its like $80 minimum in stupid fittings if you want to do hardline water cooling, so you're already spending more than I paid for something that goes sub-zero!, and that's not including the rigid hoses, or heck I didn't even include fans in that item list...).
      Setup time is the worst (initial setup, once its done its golden, and you don't have to mess with it again most likely, or until your next upgrade).
      Power consumption will go up a lot (your chip is already molten Lava, whats another 300w though? I run 1100w TDP system when stock, as if I ran it stock though! LOL! My electric bill is pretty low, like $20 a month typically, max has been $40, but that's for my whole house. Its not that much more, I mean, its already a $500+ CPU that you have, I'd get all the performance you could out of it)
      Pros: EXTREME COLD! I mean, FX at insane voltages with core temps peaking below 0c?!? That's crazy... You can also run ludicrous voltage that would degrade a CPU into a potato within a week as your "everyday phase voltage". Like wow, I bet FX would be crapped out at 1.7v for after long, and honestly I'd run 1.8v if my cheapo board didn't have a BIOS limit at that... But on phase I bet it will be fine for a year at least even hammering it 24/7.
      Also your overclocks will be outlandishly high on that CPU, der8aur (the famous German overclocker that has set every world record from 7700k, to 6 core when Ryzen came out, all the way up to duel socket records with Epyc) showed that the 9900k scales ridiculously amazing below 0c (like unbelievable compared to any other CPU I've seen... I would not run those on air after I've seen these results, they are seriously handicapped on water...)
      Is it worth it? Well I'd say so. But... Do note that you had better be able to replace your motherboard and CPU at the MINIMUM if things were to go wrong, a lot of users have made mistakes (like not packing the socket with the thermal paste or dielectric grease like the manual says. Guess what happened 2 weeks later? The pins rusted... That's why you follow the directions... Or they think oh gee, I think its fine to not put the insulation on it, I mean its only -60c on the cooler! Well, guess who learned about water condensation, because they didn't read the instructions...). Its still moderately safe (especially compared to my water cooling, I had over 5 water leaks today! That's not even close to my record, that's just kind of typical sadly...), but you do want to take it slow, just follow the manual, and you'll be alright. Since you've already tested and verified your hardware is working, you won't need to worry about warranty, so you can go ahead with the kind of messy process (you water-proof everything, lots of options though, I use Vaseline for short term, as in months or weeks, because I can heatgun it to drip out clean, or you can use plasti-dip sprays or fingernail polish etc. Its mostly a backup in case your heaters or insulation fail, but its one extra layer that would need to fail before damage is done, so I just take all the safety precautions. It does take a little prep time, but once its done right, its done! And you'll have a lot better piece of mind).
      Here is my phase cooler, I'm actually not sure how it got that hot, I think it was 100*F in the house at the time, and I had a heater at 38w instead of 5w on the block, so the outside plastic was really hot, I over-estimated how much heat I'd need!)

    Personally, another reason why we have RTX on GTX cards, is to get more developers to implement it. Since some developers might not have RTX cards to do proper testing and developing on RTX features and this would allow those developers to do it. Since if you are testing RTX, especially as developer, 20FPS is fine to see how it looks and if it works. Though I am pretty sure nVidia is also betting on human psychology of gamer not being able to max out settings and therefore feeling like they are missing out and upgrade. It could get especially nasty with default presets, where they could try manipulating developers in turning on RTX on high and ultra preset, showing a way more significant framerate drops in order to encourage upgrades. Also I am pretty sure increasing pool of users is also there for same reason. But I am pretty sure this wasn't done out of goodness of their hearts, but rather calculated marketing move.

    There are problems with the Steam hardware survey that have existed for a while. First, why confuse people with "Number of CPUs". Are we talking about servers here? Just call them cores. Second, there are a lot of internet cafes, and these accounts change with every user, so millions of users are reporting this same hardware over and over again. Third, it's an opt-in survey. Not all setups are accounted for. I don't know for sure, but I don't think the total number of users was listed here, either. These machines should be by IP or MAC address, not user (Internet cafe thing).

    VESA Standard??? Bottomline first: Do you know of any efforts to standardize the placement of VESA mounts on the backs of monitors?
    I don't like most manufacturers' monitor mounting stands. They're never tall enough, and whatever I put them on is always in the way on my desk, or even worse, unstable. So when possible I like to use wall, or sometimes table, mounting brackets. Fortunately, most monitors now seem to come with VESA mount mounting holes. And while luckily they are centered horizontally, you never know where the manufacturer is going to put them vertically. I just finished wall-mounting two different monitors next to one another. One had a nicely centered VESA mount, but the other's was 13cm higher than center. Besides making the marking and drilling on the wall more complicated, it's nearly impossible to use that monitor in "portrait" orientation.
    Background (aka: extraneous blah, blah, blah...) I've been doing electronics of one form or another, professionally and personally, for about 40 years. But in all that time I had never built a PC from the ground up...until last month. With the help of several TH-cam channels such as yours, it was extremely fun, and almost too simple. One of the things that made it so, was all the standards that manufacturers are using to the benefit of themselves and their customer base. e.g. If I buy (from reputable vendors) an ATX case and an ATX motherboard, I can logically assume they'll work together. I really liked that, and it made component selection and assembly a breeze. Not so for VESA!! (End of rant.)
    Thanks for your time. (MCP: End of Line.)

      Depends on the board and which PCIe lanes the m.2 uses. If it’s running off the CPU lanes then your GPU will drop to 8x vs 16. Most chipsets have additional lanes. Refer to your motherboard manual for this info.
      Now performance loss would be determined by what GPU you’re running. Most GPUs don’t saturate all 16 lanes so unless you’re using a 2080ti which (from my memory) is the closest to saturating all 16 lanes.

AMD right now just represents the best overall value, sure it won't give the top tier performance in most games, but the value beyond that is extensive, people could be betting on Core counts outweighing frequency in the near future, there are also the massive security leaks in the Intel arch. so that may be a driving factor for enterprise as well.

If I'm not running anything that wakes up the discrete GPU or have no external monitor plugged in, Steam will only record that I have an HD 630 iGPU because the GTX 1070 is on a sleep state. And even if the GTX 1070 is running it will still show that I also have the HD 630 since it still has to "pipe" the GTX 1070 framebuffer to display it on the laptop's screen.
    EDIT: I'm pretty wrong, this is the output of Steam's "System Information", and it doesn't even show the GTX 1070 while having two external monitors plugged into mini-DP ports that connect directly to the dGPU (I have the circuit schematics and the only output the HD 630 has is the eDP for the laptop's display):

    12 999eur is including taxes. So only shipping and import toll will be due additionally.
    Sales tax may be higher in Europe, but usually it hides pretty well :p

    P.S. Everyone if you use Windows 10 disable IE 11 as there's a new bug in it that also effects Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc. if IE 11 is enabled on your pc.
    For Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, etc. it's time to upgrade as you can't avoid this bug like Windows 10 can.

    When Steam is counting the Intel integrated GPU,it could stand for a system with no other GPU,like some of my friends who use laptops without separate GPUs

    I wonder how much if any of that dropping trend of PCs, is that some just don't like the 'Android' like interface on a PC/workstation where the classic XP interface is simply preferred. For many, the lackluster boost in performance on a PC that is more difficult to use, simply may not be a good selling point.
    If someone has a 6700k with win7 that works, it's a hard sell for a 7700k that is at best 5% faster and only works with win10 that has a drastically different feel to its interface that doesn't work some times at random. An 8700k or 9700k may have been a smidgen better of a sell, however, that win10 thing, I don't know. I'd rather keep the win7 box for making stuff that requires an accurate mouse pointer and relegates the newer win10 box to just crunching numbers in a closet to free up the CPU on the box with an interface that works.
    As much as some 3rd party apps try to make Win10 'Look' like XP/win7, the actual user-interface features simply are not there (a mouse pointer that works without jumping around the screen when left-clicking something, menus that don't require multiple clicking to brows submenus that actually work when you click for them, the ability to set unique fonts font-sizes and colors for each part of the interface independently, the ability to hold off updates till the hours-long render has finished instead of wiping out a day's of work in the middle of a render to do forced-updates, etc). Grrrrr. At least the R7 is fast at rendering and the PM01 looks pretty and keeps it's cool, lol.

    is that 1.6ghz CPU clock? was seriously hoping the consoles would address the serious CPU bottleneck next gen that game dev's have complained about.

      1.6 base 3.2 boost, and it's an 8 core zen 2 so it's way better than jaguar any way 😅

      To hell with 4k, give us 60fps, and room for more complexed gameplay, devs for years had to make significant cutback on GAMEPLAY because of weak cpu, and thats before considering graphics and performance
