  • Miri Mesika's song Shir Tikva with English translations.
Hebrew is not my native language, I started learning Hebrew 2 years ago and this is as far as I know it right now. I love to translate songs as a part of learning the Hebrew language, and I had a little help of a dictionary since I don't know all of the words. I'm still learning, so feel free to correct my mistakes if you see some.

This is an ABSOLUTELY amazing recording... the voice and 'kavanah" of Miri, is so heartfelt, soul-touching...and everything else...it's beyond... Toda raba....

P.2: "Even THOUGH A Year Gone By..." & That's it... I know it seems a lot, but since Hebrew IS My native language I can traslate it to english & keep the meaning behind the lyrics! I still think you did one AWESOME job & Proud that you even did it!

@MultiNachas I know that :) I just thought it would be beautiful to translate it as 'her'. It adds something sweet and beautiful to the English translation, more than just the easy word 'it'. But that's just my opinion.

Thing is, the "it" it's referring to is the titular "hope" of the song. :-)

    Amazing translate!
I see some people corrected you about things. There is one more little thing they didn't mention (hope you're fine with it): The translation of "ביום הזה הניצחון בעצם זה שלא נשברת" is moe like "Today the victory is in the fact that you didn't break"

an answer to a question "it is" hiding inside you
    not "she"
    "it" refers to "an answer"
so the meaning : the answer to the question is hiding in you

'' TODAY IS A VICTORY JUST BECAUSE YOU DIDN T FALL'' - SORRY I AM FRENCH SO MY ENGLISH IS NOT THAT GOOD....THAT MEANS THAT THE FACT YOU DIDN T FALL IT S ALREADY A VICTORY

I know, but since the word "tikva" is feminine I thought translating it as "her" instead of "it" could be beautiful :)

P.1: WOW! awesome job! if I was you & only cause it sounds more "artistic" to me, I'd put "Listens" instead of "Hears", "And THE Answer To THE Question..." instead of "An Answer...", & you placed "She" regarding the "Question" so I asume its on purpose?, I'd place "Frightened" instead of "Afraid" & it suppose to be "Hold ON To her" & not "Hold Her" (the meaning in hebrew is "save"\"guard" so...), "Actually it's not broken" - again, loses the meaning so maybe: "In The Fact You Didn't Fold"....
