Try to change the language settings inside of WeChat, not your phone to English under me, settings. Realize, MOST programs in WeChat are in Chinese. Especially if the program was developed mainly for Chinese users. Around 90%+ do not have English!!!
For the tourcard, 100% need a passport linked to your wechat. I am pretty sure for a foreign card to be added to your wechat wallet, also need passport to fully use it.

So reading rhe comments, this only seems to work for large merchants.. So useless for food, vending machines, lockers, buying transit tickets etc.. All the useful stuff that a tourist might need.

I am assuming Philippines when you say Phil right? You can only receive money (Chinese Yuan) on WeChat if you have a Chinese bank account linked to your WeChat. Otherwise it wont work. If the person sending you money is Chinese, you can ask them to wire the money to your local bank directly, they can send upto 50k USD a year with no limitations.

Are you selecting the right area code for your country? And does it show up as an option? If not, your country won't be supported. Also, for maximum success chances do the following. Only use mobile data, call your mobile service provider and tell them to white list the wechat number or any texts coming from China, then restart your phone and try again. It doesn't work well with wifi, just mobile data.

BUT, if you go through verification of the tourcard on Alipay, you can for a limited amount on Alipay! It is best while in China, but you can get prepared and try it now! If it doesnt work, try a VPN into China and activate it as a Plan B. It should recognize your visa or mastercard once linked via wechat or alipay. (I recommend alipay as a foreigner, more user friendly) You can buy a sim card once you land in China or if your stay is short, buy roaming package with your current Euro service provider.
Try with another wechat account and phone number. Or you can try to restart your sim settings and make sure your phone provider isnt blocking any texts or call from Chinese numbers.
Cross border transactions do NOT work from CNY -> overseas bank account on wechat. It only works when using your overseas bank card to make local purchases in CNY.
Its better to have it set up before arriving in China, but of course it can be done while you are in China. The apporval process for the tourcard can take 1-2 days though, which is why I would recommend to do it and get it set up before coming here.
I have completed the real name authentication but when I wan to topup a notification popup and illustrates that I have to submit more information and in that tab I have to submit my phone number and get a otp to verify...but there's the issue...i have tried so many times and submitted different number to get the otp, change my phone also...but I couldn't get a otp.... what's the issue here? Mostly only credit cards work, I honhestly havent tried with a debit card. Make sure your country phone number you registered with and your bank card are from the same country. @@sslim1984

Apply for the tourcard for manual verification of your passport. Under add bank cards section, scroll all the way down and apply for the tourcard and follow the steps.

You just ran into a key flaw in the app. Mini programs are not managed by wechat but rather the company that made them. And most are tailored to Chinese without an English interface. If you can tell me which functions you need, maybe I can recommend which apps to use that have English

If you are using a foreign card (mastercard or visa) issued outside of mainland China, the supplier must have applied to accept visa and mastercard payments in their wechat merchant account. Otherwise it wont work.
@carlosgalicio7222 my website. Lol. Kidding. Sometimes you can send money directly with your attached visa card on wechat pay but it doesn't work most of the time. You can also try to make it for the supplier to scan your wechat pay payment code.
Correct, you cannot use wechat pay for merchant payments outside of China as a foreigner. However, you can use it to make payments online to Chinese merchants. But it wont work lets say at an airport outside of China that accepts wechat pay.

@@imsane2319 HK has a seperate wechat system, different from the typical one so make sure you download the right one. But yeah, wechat pay outside of mainland China is usually a no go for foreigners, unless its one of the special ones lke HK or Malaysia wechat pay which has nothing to do with regular wechat pay.

So janky and backwards. Everytime I try and add my card, it says this version of wechat doesn't support international cards, and to update.... I updated... same bs. Chinese apps don't do too well adopting to international needs, but they are super useful for local Chinese users. Even us foreigners in China who work here face issues with years if experience.
Unfortunately wechat doesn't have customer support like alipay with live chat. They can't support live chat for 1 billion+ users. Only two way to contact, 1. Call the chinese hotline with a Chinese phone number at 95017 2. Open a ticket under wechat pay by adding a card number with the wrong expiration date like 3-5 times to start the ticket process and write your issue and wait 2-4 business days for a response BTW, everything is in Chinese. No English
ahh, then you will need to change your name you applied with on wechat. To do that, go to services, wechat wallet, select the three dots on top right corner, real name verification, then look for a section on the bottom that says change name or 换名字

Yes, I mentioned that you can ONLY pay with the foreign card to merchants, not individuals unless you have a Chinese bank account. You can only get partial verification without one. Full verification allows for transfer of rmb and receiving of rmb with wechat pay. Check under services and wallet for your ID verification status

@@marcocinalli755 yeah, it's always been impossible and will remain to be impossible to send and recieve cny on wechat without a Chinese bank account. The purpose of the foreign card on wechat is solely to pay merchants (not individual wechat users) for their service or product and that will only work if the merchant has the ability and applied to accept visa and mastercard like large chain stores. Otherwise it won't work. The passport is just for partial verification. Full verification happens when you add a Chinese bank account to wechat, which will unlock the ability to accept and send cny from that Chinese bank account.

No need tutorial. Simple if you have an ANDROID phone. Under settings, search for font and select a font with pinyin. I paid for a font for about 10 CNY, you may find free ones.
Can or cannot? To see it, someone needs to send you money and you need to pass passport verification. You can try to make sure you have the most updated wechat version or change the language to Chinese and try again
You can link your foreign bank card with wechat pay. But you can't top up cny, receive cny, or send cny. You can only pay merchants that accept Visa or Mastercard via wechat pay, nothing else. Linking a Chinese bank account allows you to do everything I mentioned in the second sentence of this comment.
@@IAmCuon To be honest, better to use alipay since it is connected to taobao and 1688 and they have customer service unlike wechat. Start with getting an alipay tourcard then with that tourcard you should be able to make online payments.
Then call your service provider in your country and tell them to stop blocking messages from China. You can also try the call to verify method if the text doesnt work. Lastly, might consider using another number or phone if it still doesnt work
Use your USA number to sign up. Then use your USA bank card to link on wechat pay. Plenty of people do this and it works! tried with my folks last week

For top up service, you must have a Chinese bank account. Otherwise you can just pay wihh the foreign card, not receive or send cny to include top up

Do you mean use Bangladesh local currency to send CNY to China? And the other way around? If this is dealing with FOREX business, WeChat is not suitable. Better via 3rd party or bank.

You just ran into a key flaw in the app. Mini programs are not managed by wechat but rather the company that made them. And most are tailored to Chinese without an English interface. If you can tell me which functions you need, maybe I can recommend which apps to use that have English

If you are using a foreign card (mastercard or visa) issued outside of mainland China, the supplier must have applied to accept visa and mastercard payments in their wechat merchant account. Otherwise it wont work.

@carlosgalicio7222 my website. Lol. Kidding. Sometimes you can send money directly with your attached visa card on wechat pay but it doesn't work most of the time. You can also try to make it for the supplier to scan your wechat pay payment code.

Correct, you cannot use wechat pay for merchant payments outside of China as a foreigner. However, you can use it to make payments online to Chinese merchants. But it wont work lets say at an airport outside of China that accepts wechat pay.
@@BorderlessCommerce I recently tried it in Hongkong, my Alipay and wechat pay as a foreigner without any Chinese bank account/card. But only the card issued in my country was linked. It returned with an error.
@@imsane2319 HK has a seperate wechat system, different from the typical one so make sure you download the right one. But yeah, wechat pay outside of mainland China is usually a no go for foreigners, unless its one of the special ones lke HK or Malaysia wechat pay which has nothing to do with regular wechat pay.

Everytime I try and add my card, it says this version of wechat doesn't support international cards, and to update.... I updated... same bs.

Chinese apps don't do too well adopting to international needs, but they are super useful for local Chinese users. Even us foreigners in China who work here face issues with years if experience.

Unfortunately wechat doesn't have customer support like alipay with live chat. They can't support live chat for 1 billion+ users. Only two way to contact, 1. Call the chinese hotline with a Chinese phone number at 95017 2. Open a ticket under wechat pay by adding a card number with the wrong expiration date like 3-5 times to start the ticket process and write your issue and wait 2-4 business days for a response
BTW, everything is in Chinese. No English

ahh, then you will need to change your name you applied with on wechat. To do that, go to services, wechat wallet, select the three dots on top right corner, real name verification, then look for a section on the bottom that says change name or 换名字

I did the identity check with my passport data, but it seems my identity verification is still not complete unless I also add a valid Chinese card (this is what I could transalte from the screen IDENTITY INFORMATION which looks a bit different than yours). Will my card work for payment only?
Yes, I mentioned that you can ONLY pay with the foreign card to merchants, not individuals unless you have a Chinese bank account. You can only get partial verification without one. Full verification allows for transfer of rmb and receiving of rmb with wechat pay. Check under services and wallet for your ID verification status

P.s. in Identity Info, even after passaport verification is succesfully completed and a Visa is successfully added, my account says I still need to insert a local card to complete verification.
@@marcocinalli755 yeah, it's always been impossible and will remain to be impossible to send and recieve cny on wechat without a Chinese bank account. The purpose of the foreign card on wechat is solely to pay merchants (not individual wechat users) for their service or product and that will only work if the merchant has the ability and applied to accept visa and mastercard like large chain stores. Otherwise it won't work. The passport is just for partial verification. Full verification happens when you add a Chinese bank account to wechat, which will unlock the ability to accept and send cny from that Chinese bank account.

I dont think so, you can try? I know some games on wechat that require you to be 18 to play though, I never tried with just the wechat pay function though.

No need tutorial. Simple if you have an ANDROID phone. Under settings, search for font and select a font with pinyin. I paid for a font for about 10 CNY, you may find free ones.

Can or cannot? To see it, someone needs to send you money and you need to pass passport verification. You can try to make sure you have the most updated wechat version or change the language to Chinese and try again

You can link your foreign bank card with wechat pay. But you can't top up cny, receive cny, or send cny. You can only pay merchants that accept Visa or Mastercard via wechat pay, nothing else. Linking a Chinese bank account allows you to do everything I mentioned in the second sentence of this comment.

@@IAmCuon To be honest, better to use alipay since it is connected to taobao and 1688 and they have customer service unlike wechat. Start with getting an alipay tourcard then with that tourcard you should be able to make online payments.

Use your USA number to sign up. Then use your USA bank card to link on wechat pay. Plenty of people do this and it works! tried with my folks last week
