As someone who was born in August 2009, I want to believe Gen Z ends in 2012 because I can’t imagine someone born mere months after me acting like all the other Gen Alpha kids.
I would love to think that 2010-2012 is kind of the transitioning period, where both gen z and gen alpha can overlap and be whatever generation they feel comfortable to, which..probably they will all try to hang on that gen z time anyways.

I can honestly say that late 2012 and 2013 kids are very much brainrotted. As soon as the late 2012 and 2013 kids graduated elementary school and came to my school, that’s when I started hearing the brainrot lingo.

i find it quite funny how a majority of pre-2015 articles support that it was from 1995 to 2009/10 (in filtering from articles between 2006 and 2015) there were a bunch of other weird date ranges such as claims like 1999-2007 and 1993-2005 (but very few websites deviated from 1995-2010) I could not see any websites within 5 pages of the search say it was from 1997 to 2012 so it seems to be a very new claim this makes me wonder where this claim even originated from and why such a sudden shift in beliefs
I remember seeing somewhere that Australia considers Gen Z as 1995-2010 and Gen Alpha as 2011+, but the topic didn't gain much traction until a few months ago, and I think it's because we might not have known what to call Gen Alpha at the time since we didn't use letters until Gen X, which is kinda weird. Now we know that 2027-2042 will be called Gen Beta because we follow patterns to make things simpler.
I like to look at different school classes. In my middle school, 2010-2011 is fine. 2011-2012 (my class) is for the most part good, some people make jokes mocking gen alpha, and then the youngest people in our grade, seem to be a little bit more brain rotted. But once you get to 2012-2013 its all downhill from there. So I'd say people from around late July-early September 2012 is where gen alpha would start, but if you wanna go yearly then I'd say it starts in 2013.

If you research about the future generations, gen alpha is 12 years long and generation beta is 14 years and so are a lot more generations in the future. The real question is why is generation alpha 12 years but not 15, or 14 years? Well this is something we've seen before in past generations. We saw 3 year gaps and 2 year gaps. So it is normal to have generations with lengths less than 15. therefore gen alpha starts 2013 to 2025.

I view the endpoints of each generation as a gradient, so I like to put the ~ symbol on each start and end year for a generation. For me, I think that the _Millennials_ spans from *~1981 to ~1996* and _Gen Z_ spanning from *~1996 to ~2011.* This makes Gen Alpha span from *~2011 to ~2026.* I’d also like to make cusper generations, mini generations between two main generations that would span approximately 2-3 years in total. For the people born from *late 1995 to 1997,* they are part of the _Zillennial_ cusper. For the people born from *2010 to early 2012 (I’d also like to include the people born in late 2009 too),* they are part of the _Zalpha_ cusper. In conclusion, 2010-2012 borns are neither full gen Z or full Gen Alpha, they are cuspers, or a mix between the two generations mentioned. Gen Zs had access to more advanced technology by the time they were 10, like HDMIs, flatter computers, the iPhone, etc. Gen Alphas were born in the time when those revolutions were expanded upon, and the rest that will be born, (2024-27) will have been born after AI.

I am in those few years where you don't know what generation you are in. I used to play outside all the time. I grew up with a Kindle Fire tablet (which is more like a lag machine) and I wouldn't be watching anything other than Stampy or DanTDM. My parents didn't let me on it every second of life. I only got an iPad during Covid because my cousins, my other family and I would be at our grandparents house, and they wouldn't be able to have fun (all day) with six kids for a whole five months. I would consider Gen Z to be from 1995-2012, as we didn't have a phone/iPad until Covid started.
2008 person here, I'm 16. Have a brother who is a 2011 and we both grew up on the same technology. Can't say the same for others because some could be a 2011 and 2014 growing up with the same technology.

It all depends on what brain rot level you have. You can be 2012 and not have brain rot and I would consider you gen Z. If your 2010 and brain rot your gen alpha

I am in those few years where you don't know what generation you are in. I used to play outside all the time. I grew up with a Kindle Fire tablet (which is more like a lag machine) and I wouldn't be watching anything other than Stampy or DanTDM. My parents didn't let me on it every second of life. I only got an iPad during Covid because my cousins, my other family and I would be at our grandparents house, and they wouldn't be able to have fun (all day) with six kids for a whole five months. I would consider Gen Z to be from 1995-2012, as we didn't have a phone/iPad until Covid started.
