Land Rover - Toyota recovery vehicle. Love it. You can't tell I own a Land Rover 110. But what an amazing video. Been on safari a few times and to anyone here, put it on your bucket list. It is one of the most memorable experiences you can have. It touches the soul.
Defo one for the Landrovers I agree, but as a short caveat I would defo look at the experience of the driver in the rental💁♀ and (2) how many Landy's came to collect them after the ballon ride 😜

Hi guys, it looked like Harry had more recoveries than most have had in a lifetime, but I can see you enjoy helping people out even if it is your brother - several times! Being a Landrover lover I think it’s fair to say that most hire 4x4s in Southern and East Africa are Toyota. Spares are readily available. But any 4x4 in the hands of an inexperienced driver will get stuck. Harry your time behind the wheel of the Landy has made you the perfect Toyota recovery vehicle ! Regards from South Africa. @@troopyinafrica Well said and good observation too. But all in all, I don't think it's a coincidence that all Cruisers (2 different Cruisers) got stuck while the Rover smoothly navigated the same terrain.

So awesome to see your landy rescue all those Toyotas . Have owned both rigs loved them both . But there is JUST some thing spectacular about a Land Rover defender out in the bush . Awesome you got to do the hot air balloon, i did it in the Maasai Mara as a kid wonderful memory. And the roads are fun when wet! I remember when my dad used to be part of the back up team for the rally drivers in the 80’s for the Kenyan safari rally one of the cars got time barred as they got a puncture and couldn’t get out to fix it due to a pride of lions. Always have someone on lookout when outside of the vehicles in the game parks.
So many magical moments and epic recoveries! Compliments for the DEF! And thank you for sharing! I am a bit perplexed though: how on earth did the Landcruiser manage to get stuck so many times, even if the tracks were atrocious? I have driven both vehicles through East and Western Africa in similar conditions and both performed very well on challenging terrain. The DEF has a more powerful engine and traction overall, but the LC is almost as good. I bet your friends will have acquired a lot more of driving experience and skills at the end of the safari with you 😜!
You were very lucky that you travelled as group, I always advise my clients not to go on self drive with one car especially Serengeti. It was a good adventure. Selfdrive is good for adventure

What an incredible experience! The balloon was an amazing way to get up close to the animals!!👌 The Toyota looked like it kept sinking ass first. Was it really heavily loaded down on the back axle?
I am loving your chanell, and am just a little.....okay a lot....... jealous of this part as the Serengeti is on my bucket list. Just some advice. Please don't stand that close to a kinetic rope or winch cable/rope during a recovery, even a small recovery. If something fails on a vehicle it can cause a piece of metal from the vehicle to become a projectile and you could be seriously injured or killed.
Thanks for the advice we are generally pretty careful with standing away from winch lines etc maybe slipped here a little since we were doing so many 😂
My brother has a safari company in Tz and says that his Landrovers always have to rescue Landcruisers. Not a lot of companies have Landrovers anymore as the tourist prefer Landcruisers
wow that was intense 😮💨😁 had some kind of similar experiences but even more crazy almost and can confirm how good it feels to finally arrive edit: hot air balloon in the serengeti? the. dream.
@@TheLandyExpedition the older cruiser. Did it maybe have manual locking lockers? It is an old narrow nose (possibly older than the landy) and i don't think it would have auto lockers in which case possibly at a bit of a disadvantage?
Your mate in the Landcruiser is too aggressive on the throttle when trying to get out of a stuck position .I was an overland driver, and found best things to carry for mud were snow chains. Sand/mud mats can be rather dangerous ,having a tendency to be spat out and can hit either people or damage the vehicle especially the fuel tank.

Most sensible reply I read so far. Toyota not the car of choice in the serengti for nothing and rental drivers are blessed to have other around.
