I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years now (with a multi-year break in the middle) and only in the past few years did I realize that the musicians that I like do things their own way. They may be influenced by others, but their sound is their own and the music they write is in their own voice. And maybe it's just because playing is a hobby I do for fun and I don't write my own music that it's taken me so long to realize this. With certain bands you hear the evolution album to album as they shape their sound and if a member leaves and a new one comes in, the sound can change because the band is getting new input in the creative process. But my point is that I spent so many years trying to emulate someone's sound and only now do I understand that they're not chasing someone else's sound. They're chasing their own sound. They're constantly tweaking settings or trying new guitars or bringing in new influences, but it's still all done in their voice for how they like to do things and what they like to play.
RE: Many different opinions in the art form; “It doesn’t happen in music...” I beg to differ. It doesn’t happen in MAINSTREAM music, but it’s out there! Trust!! I.E. Country, Death Metal, world music has MANY different opinions and voices. I think all art forms do. It’s why Art exists!
@Megara Lyons Death Metal will, by definition, never be a "household name" even the BIGGEST names in the genre. People don't know Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse members' names. As for black people in metal though, Ice-T has a metal band that's primarily black; Body Count. Not DEATH metal, but it's still metal. Also Tosin Abasi is a well-known and well-respected black guitarist from the band Animals As Leaders. There are also a lot of Asians who get into rock and metal. One of my favorites is Chthonic, a band from Taiwan that gets into some real shit. They're fucking awesome. There's also Mongolian metal that includes throat singing - check out Tengger Calvary - War Horse. But absolutely NO death metal band is a household name; so keep it within reason. Metalheads are keeping a finger on the pulse of the metal scenes popping up in African countries like Botswana. Wrust is [or at least was] a death metal band from Botswana - look up Hate Em All. There's also Middle Eastern extreme metal that gets a large following, like Melechesh, and lighter metal from the same areas like Myrath and Orphaned Land. I even saw Orphaned Land live when they came to my area in Texas, and there was a decent sized crowd [when you consider metal isn't pop and thus doesn't bring in numbers like Justin Bieber or Twenty One Pilots would]. There's also an Indian metal group called Bloodywood that's solid as hell. And there's an all-female band called Matriarch from Puerto Rico that was fucking awesome, too [look up their song Sinful Decadance]. Sheperds Reign is a Polynesian metal band [Le Manu is pretty cool]. There are also plenty of women in metal, too - Tatiana from Jinjer, Som from Cerebral Bore and Your Chance To Die, Angela from Arch Enemy, Alissa from The Agonist [and later took over vocal duties for Angela], Chthonic has a female basist, Babymetal is fronted by young women, Candice did vocals for Eths for a while, Otep has a female lead vocalist, Kittie is an all-female metal group, Oceans of Slumber has a woc lead vocalist, Rage of Light has a woc vocalist [she also fronts/has fronted a handful of other bands like Ad Infinitum]

My mother used to say something that would roughly translate as "one has become a master at their craft when then make it look easy to those who are watching"
Him talking about his Mom got me choking up, squeezed a few tears out too... He's so raw and he doesn't care who knows it! He wont back down from what he believes and he'll make you look silly if you think otherwise.
You two are some of my favorites. You speak with honor and a great kind of wisdom that is a gift that were given. And you are developing those gifts really well. Just like Chapelle. Stay you… that is why we watch.
This is the best award acceptance speech i've ever heard. It was long as fuck but afterwards i was like "Damn you're finished already? Keep talking man."
Damn, Chapelle is authentic, legit, himself, and not afraid of it. Man knows that he being himself is more fun and satisfying than be anybody else FOR EVERYBODY. I strive to be like that too.
Learning from other people who have had a different walk of life than you have is priceless. Whether you agree or disagree, communication with one another is important.
I use to watch tony woods stand up when I was a teenager, never expected Dave to shout him out. He has a hilarious 3 bears joke that I remember all these years later
When I seen him do that I literally caught tears. He's so humble and a real. He's always been my favorite comedian. I made it a ritual to make sure I watched his show and everything he did growing up.
Dave Chappelle is as badass down to earth cool in person as he is on screen. The memory he helped me create was definitely one that always makes me smile, and I’ll keep it forever.
Dave Chappell is a this generation pure genus who says what ever he wants and tells the truth and doesn't let the sjw and woke cult brigade police what hes saying so refreshing to see !! guys a legend !!
Here's the thing about this speech and its content. To me it's weird to hear people marvel at what he said. That it's a breath of fresh air that it's good to hear people still having these good values. To me this should be the norm like it is for me. I've been raised as a mix of a black mom and white dad. I know what real racism is. Not this panszy ass you get in the states real racism yet i don't let it run my world. As long as I keep the values I've been given by my parents and teach them to my kids... To be respectful, to be honest, to help one another without wanting anything in return, to be better every single day and to not be sour against the bad things that happen and the people left or right of the spectrum trying to pull you down. To have that should be something everyone should have. But to hear people marvel at his words although I'm glad someone in his postion still has that is some what troubling
Aba, I understand exactly how you feel about wanting to move people. I feel the exact same way. I'm lucky that I'm in a job that allows me to move a lot of people.......even when they don't expect it or accept it. There's just a sense of fulfilment I get when they wake up in a foreign country.

They're constantly tweaking settings or trying new guitars or bringing in new influences, but it's still all done in their voice for how they like to do things and what they like to play.
What "even you" " of course you"
met Dave Chappelle walking down the streets in south beach and he was a super nice and real respectful cool person
You better believe you guys move people in your own way.
Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Facts!!! That's what I'm sayin'.
Even in non mainstream hip hop...you'll find a lot of wildly varying material.
Thank you, I was thinking this, too! Radio shit doesn't but scratch the surface.
Megara Lyons Just because you’ve never heard about them doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
Damn... The part where he shouted out his mom really made me cry cuz my moms ain't here no more and seeing her by his side reminded me of my moms
This was such a wholesome episode, I've been binging y'all, but hearing about Aba personally and with Chapelle's speech really hit home. It is great to hear people on the come up keeping level heads and aiming for something great. This comment will probably be buried, but the influence of this episode will stay with me. Much love, keep up the good work
He's speech was wonderful brought tears to my eyes especially when he talked about his mother. ❤❤❤
This was one of the best speeches i have heard in a long time. Dave Chappelle is a genius.
Dave and Patrice (RIP) modern day Carlin’s. Honorable mention: Bill Burr
Preachs laugh alone cheers me up when I'm down.
Preach said what I was thinking, no lie - “even you???” Loool
Dave Chappelle is a national treasure.
Him, Bill Burr, Doug Stanhope, Corey Holcomb, and Louis CK are insanely genius comedians..
RIP Patrice O’Neal.
Word 😎👍🏽
BUT...Carlin is THE G.O.A.T.
;)
Thomas Carnacki Carlin is one of the greats, so is Hicks.. Mitch(RIP) aka _“I use to do drugs. I still do, but I use to too.”_
@@MidTierVillain Word.
>Doffs hat to you
When you bring your mother into your story’s and speech it has to be real and from the heart.
I owe so much of my funny to Dave Chappelle.
"When a rio dies its like a library burned down" that hit me
My mother used to say something that would roughly translate as "one has become a master at their craft when then make it look easy to those who are watching"
Bro to give back is the best feeling ever as a human. To give and feel empathy is the highest human emotion. Love you guys.
I sing “Icebox” when I’m working in the cold lol
WattKy71 lmfaoo I sing it in the winter cause I’m from Buffalo 🙄🤣
Kanika Canada here!
Him talking about his Mom got me choking up, squeezed a few tears out too... He's so raw and he doesn't care who knows it! He wont back down from what he believes and he'll make you look silly if you think otherwise.
Love dave chapelle. He is one of the G.O.A.T. S of comedy
Shout out to y’all from Seattle 🤟🏾
Learning from other people who have had a different walk of life than you have is priceless. Whether you agree or disagree, communication with one another is important.
I use to watch tony woods stand up when I was a teenager, never expected Dave to shout him out. He has a hilarious 3 bears joke that I remember all these years later
When I seen him do that I literally caught tears. He's so humble and a real. He's always been my favorite comedian. I made it a ritual to make sure I watched his show and everything he did growing up.
7:00 you can see Preach gets goosebumps when Aba is talking about Just for Laughs.
I agree, that was and awesome speech. I love how he honoured his mom.
Aba, you are so intelligent and you have a beautiful soul. Preach is funny and such a manly man. Love to see you both, my fav guys
Wow ngl that actually made me extremely teary-eyed, the way dave told that story makes me cry so much
I love the content of y'all videos. They are funny, informative, and non bias. Keep up the good work and success.
I love both of your passion and energy when you talk about who deserves to be highlighted. I can feel this is not “just a job” for you guys.
But to hear people marvel at his words although I'm glad someone in his postion still has that is some what troubling
this inspired me to continue to be myself! never giving up and loving yourself and background.
Aba, I understand exactly how you feel about wanting to move people. I feel the exact same way. I'm lucky that I'm in a job that allows me to move a lot of people.......even when they don't expect it or accept it. There's just a sense of fulfilment I get when they wake up in a foreign country.
😅😅😅
Thespokenone uhhh...
@@jackslaughter3697
Its a joke, i had to read it twice too. He is saying he also moves people, as a trafficker.
I listen because it's nice to hear other perspectives and discussions on a variety of topics and to hear people who are sensible.
You two are hilarious. I've been watching so many of your vids. I love your energy!
Exceptional ! Loveeeeee you guys !!! Thank you for letting me see this I wouldn’t have known ,,, it made me have tears in my eyes when David C said I have to thank my MOM and PREACH SMILED his beautiful smile and I knew all along he also treats his mother like the Queen she is I adore you guys I just do Enjoy the day Best Susan Bardaro
Came for the laughs, stayed for the beauty, that is Dave and his mother's love for each other!
you guys are awesome and building your legacies right now...keep doing what you guys are doing. love the content.
Dave Chappelle is a legend.
That was a great moment. I was so happy to see Dave win the Mark Twain prize. He very much earned it.
The little girl's face at 12:05 🥴😂 I assume she's his daughter - so cute! 😂
Chills man...just chills... I love Dave Chappelle
Nothing like a black man paying tribute to his black queen...in this case, his mother.
Saimazing Life you're a queen too, protect your womb, may tmh give you a loving husband and whatever you desire good.
Black queen 😂😂😂😂
Queens are dog shit
Jesus
I like this positive aspect of the channel. I love it when you guys cover something that isn't negative in this world and give it your own interpretation. It's a refreshing break you need before going back to deal with the craziness of this world. Keep up the good work guys.
Aba looks so much younger now... he looks like he's a fucking college student (that's a compliment btw xD)
I appreciate yall bringing this to me.
2:27 killed me 💀😂
“Click click” 😂😂
Even more than your commentary, I love the dynamics of your friendship. I see it and it warms my heart.
The first amendment is the first for a reason, the second is for when the first doesn't work out.
The Mayor Declared today as "Dave Chappelle Day" and for those who wanna celebrate it in the future, create one amazing moment for themselves and one amazing moment for someone else.
To see someone be authentic, to see someone be true to there values and to see them win.
Thank you, Preach. Your point about idea of what success looks like for parents is true. It made me think and reflect on myself for giving up easily cause my parents disapprove without trying properly.
I’m observing the body language of Aba, I see him turning his face away & back against preach at times when Preach starts speaking his opinion
I’ve seen this consistent body language throughout many of their videos
