You definitely need more likes, sir. Your content is making my self-taught web designer heart very happy. I am PUMPED now about my new venture. Woop, woop! I started my church's website on SquareSpace just because it was easy, and now seeing how expansive it can be and how I can hone in and really build my business with this. Yay!
Hey David! I just discovered your channel today and i really wanted to write this comment (it's my first youtube comment ever hahah). Me and a friend of mine are in the first month of launching our own company and this video is just perfect for us. I actually had the exact same Idea, to build websites using squarespace and sell them to customers. I started with my moms website for her small side business a year ago and now decided to do this as a job now. I wanted to tell you that your videos seem very professional and informative, you have a good youtube personality and I wish you all the best for your journey on here! Keep it up👌🏻 Greetings from switzerland👋🏻
You are so kind, I appreciate the comment. I love Switzerland, hope to visit soon again :) Let me know if there is any content I could help create for your journey
Hey man, good to see someone in similar shoes as myself. I've been looking for the right "side hustle" to get into for years and experimented with a lot of different things before I finally decided web design is where I wanted to be! Actually working on portfolio at the moment. Your video honestly taught me a lot in a small amount of time. I know it isnt much but I hope that I could at least contribute towards a meal or coffee that kept you going doing your thing! Looking forward to watching some more of your content! Keep it up!
@cerealis_5432 yeah I started! I've done some free work which was good for referrals and now got a couple paying gigs as well! Hopefully this will steamroll into something bigger!
Is it a good option for long term though? That’s my main worry. I’m new but thoroughly enjoying designing on squarespace. I’m just worried about relying on freelancing and if I’ll get enough work
I've never not had work... I usually have more work than I can handle. 7 years in... PS. We are launching a Squarespace Community for 🚀 aspiring freelance Squarespace designers. This is going to be the most growth-oriented & encouraging community and best talent network! Don't miss out! Sign up here to stay up to date on the launch: launchhappy.co/coaching
Great Video. I am going to build a website for a family member who is starting a fashion/clothing business, probably squarespace or may be shopify, havent decided yet. Question, if I wanted to do website designing on the side, is it better to learn squarespace or shopify? Thanks in advance.
Great question - I'd choose the platform that best fits your target market and how much code you want to learn. if you want to learn to code and do ecommerice, shopify all the way. If you want to design sites and do minimal code, Squarespace!
So much good info. Question I live in a smaller town. When you put out your ads where you doing it locally within a certain town or all over? I live in a smaller town in the south and can’t imagine small local businesses paying 10k for a site
That's CRAZY. Did you build lots of unique skills like digital designing etc to charge such a price or did it come through your confidence? I don't know many great designers who would charge this much. Do you attract very rich clients?
So the part that may seem overlooked, that I probably didn't talk about too much - I've been doing this for 7 years, I've worked with 100s of clients, and I had some luck along the way. I believe your price goes up in proportion to the confidence you have - not in web design as much as - solving business problems. :)
