I love the way there is just enough color to enhance and draw one's eye towards your blue eyes and how the slight sheen illuminates....thank you for the in depth discussion of how the Chanel pallets work. I bought all four palettes from the Byzance collection. My favorite is #318 Venitienne. All of them are a lot more beautiful in real life than what I saw on line! 😄🤩🙆🏻♀️ I agree that it is not as pigmented as the Chanel formulas that all of us are used to. I got mine today and they are absolutely stunning, better than expected. I loved the hammered gold interior, being greek originally it reminds me a bit of ancient greece and byzantine times. They look gorgeous. I got the two lighter palettes and the shadows reminded me a bit the Bridgeton collection by PMG with the green and the light sparkling blue, and the rose peach shadows. However these ones done the Chanel way which is much more user friendly and elegant. I am thrilled with these two palettes and can't wait to try them on. Thank you for your review.

I agree with you, the pigmentation is there. I enjoy indie multichromes, pigmented makeup as well as cle de peau and Chanel's soft elegant makeup. The cristal and imperiale quads look beautiful!

I was waiting for your review Angela 💗 I ordered Parura crystal, I have yet to receive it but I’m already thinking I must get a back up.
I picked up 318 Venitienne (am fair haired/blue eyes) and I must say it really is very lovely. I wanted an easy/go to palette and the extra oomph of the topper shade is so beautiful (a subtle sparkle that looks very refined). The colours do build up and I used the peach shade wet and it worked so well.
The gold inside which is uneven thats how exactly the byzantine jewelry are.And we have many in Greece 🇬🇷 and i have byzantine jewelry from my grandmother and the closest quad that looks like those jewelry is the quad with the green color in because that's what the colors of the 💎 gemstones are ( enerald ruby diamond saphire and some have small pearls, along with the other stones.And thats one of the quads im interested in .Love from Greece 🇬🇷 ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

I will be sure to keep my eyes open for them close to September. Thinking I’d buy the same two quads you did since i am light/medium like you. Hi Angela. I was able to get my hands on 318 and 328. Have been using them. Not overly pigmented but like in painting it is easier to add than to remove I love them both. Even love the gold embossing. Today I willl recreate the look that you just did. Never a fantastic rest of the day. Sending lots of love. 🥰🥰🥰❤

Hi Angela, thank you for this fabulous review!❤ This quad looks gorgeous on you. Indeed, the pigmentation in 318 is there, and I am completely sold. I suspect the initial reaction was due to the colorstory itself; it suits beautifully fair or deeper skin tones, but perphaps will look washed out on a medium one.
I ordered the Byzance Parure Cristal today and after watching your video I think I made the right choice for me. I'm also waiting for the Chanel Equinox Beige Rosé & Mauve, and a few of the new single loose eyeshadows from the Fall 2023 collection. I hope you'll consider doing a review on those items as well.

I am in Australia and we got this collection last week.l was looking forward to the same two palettes you purchased however after seeing them in person and watching the lovely lady from New Zealand Night star beauty’s review I thought the Royale palette offered something different to most of my neutral palettes.
I must admit I felt the same way you do about the packaging however it is growing on me now and I think I prefer that with the gold you don’t see the dust kick up that you do on black

Thanks for the review! I saw a lot lot of comments and information that they didn’t have any pigment and they were going to be not worthy of $$ but they were so wrong. I swathed them at Selfrodges and ended up buying all four. I do love a color tome to time and they just looked so so beautiful in person. It’s not for everybody for sure. Especially who wants more pigment. I have Chanel. Dior , PM, and some other bolder brands. It’s like having different outfits in the closet. And what ever the event or your heart desires. You go with that theme. 😊 also, the gold hammered interior of the palette is to mimic the theme of jewels. It’s not high quality but it gives that illusion. I am a Chanel lover what can I say ❤😊

I completely agree with you, Angela: chanel's formula like in tisse revoli or tesse vendome is the best formula ever and my favourite. These formula is very suitable for every day office look. Chanel's eyeshadows are amazing, including their mat formula. Cle de pau is another my favourite eyeshadow formula, also tom ford wet and dry formula and the new dry eyeshadow formula of armani, but of all these formulas i prefer the chanel' one, as it is very elegant

Hello again Angela. those are the two quads that I am after. Last time I check tthey were not available. I love the hammer gold background. I hear comments that some didn't like the fact that you have to work to build the colors. I prefer that to an overly pigmented shadow. It is easier to add than to remover.I did check Nordtrom last night and the were not available yet. Love the simple elegant look that you created. Sending virtual hugs.
The video is super beautiful and with lots of explanation as always, dear Angela, and the eyelook you created looks stunning on you!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩I had to think a bit longer, after what Chanel did to Tavia from Chic Profile, and i still don't want the highlighters. However, i saw emerald green, which is special for me because of my dear late mother. I bought 3 of the quads, not the Imperiale. So, the ones you have and the Baroque. The Baroque with the green is super beautiful!!! I did not use the other 2 lighter quads yet, but they swatch so beautiful, better than the Chanel Tweeds of last year, they are ok. Chanel is not always what is expect, but i loved the Mediterrannee quad from last year spring, love the Rêve de Camelia highlighter, gonna try such a baume stick soon, love that blush you showed so much, a sort of blush/highlighter in a gorgeous pink, they really did it with that one, as this blush from this spring is also gorgeous on my dear friend Chelsea from glamgirlchelsea! I love their concealer in the jar as well!!! The arrogance of the company i do not love. But these shadows are perfect, after they bored me for decades, they really make progression and that is also fair to say than. This is the very reason I refuse to ever listen to the rantings of others. I've been using Chanel for quite some years now and never been let down by them, especially with their shadows. As soon as this Byzance Collection of Quads was released in Australia, I ordered all four and do not regret it for a second. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the pigmentation. The shadows can be worn softly or highly impactful. They are all simply stunning! Those complaining about the pigment are most probably the issue themselves, as I gather they are applying them incorrectly. The only issue I can mention, is that with the Baroque Quad, the red and green shades cannot be worn together as they will muddy. Green and red are simply not meant to be complimentary colours when used together, they will only turn brown. This can be seen on the promotional pictures by Chanel of this Quad. They show the green sheered out whilst over-lapping the barely there red, which then turns brown where they touch. Why they have shown these shades so blended out is a mystery, as they are highly pigmented and certainly pack a punch. Never trust anothers opinion from social media about a product that is highly sought after, as you may just miss out all together if you don't do your own research. I was only planning to purchase two of the Quads, yet they were simply so beautiful, I splurged and bought them all. It's not everyday that a Collection as lovely as this one is launched from Chanel and I for one wouldn't wish to miss out. I admit that the two lighter ones are my favourites, especially when used as Quads in their own right. Yet the more colourful shades can be used many ways and mixed and matched between each palette. The options are endless and I'm loving these! 🇦🇺💖👩🏼🎨
They are available in Australia. I purchased 318. The green topper shade was what made my decision easy. I also like 328 but I have many similar colours in my collection and I have PM Subliminal so the bluish toppers are better there (for me). If they were not $120 each I would purchase.

The inside of the shadows is very nice, I think about liquid gold… Im looking for a special birthday gift for myself, and I thought about something special from Chanel, Dior or Tom Ford. I skip just another ND or PMG palette. I like the 318 one. But the other is beautiful too…
I was going to pass on all Chanel collection, but that mint pop shade in Vénitienne , did it for me. Its totally mermaid vibes, but sophisticated way Love it Going to get it whenever Chanel decides to release in US🤪 Have a blessed day🙏❤️
very pretty look, when you had on the darker lipstick, it seemed to match your head scarf. I like the same palette that you do, seems to have a bit more of a silverish tone where the other seems to have a bit more of a gold tone to the colors. I also have the Tisse Camelia quad.
I'm eyeing the crystal and tesse revoli and idk what one to buy first for my first Chanel quad in years I use to have 1 of the straight across pallets along long time ago it wasn't great but I'm really attracted to these now. I just don't know what my first should be a limited edition one or one that's highly rated .

I love your subtle makeup look. It’s never over the top. It almost looks like you use very very little makeup. The new eye colors are gorgeous. Not yet here at Nordstrom in Oregon. Soon I hope. I also agree with you about the gold foil look in the palette. I’m not a fan. I think it looks a bit cheap, at least in photos. I prefer the black.
I actually like the shades in the quads you bought but I dislike the glittery light shade in both palettes. Since I won’t use 25% of the product it wouldn’t make sense for me. If that lighter shade was a matte or sheen, I would be in. Thank you for your review. You are always so thorough.
I echo what many others have expressed; you focus on the kind of information that makes a difference when choosing to buy or not to buy. And you know the pain of making these purchases.
These are the first Chanel eyeshadow palettes that really appeal to me. But I just bought one of Tom Ford's new palettes and am saving for one of the new CDP palettes. So I'll just settle for watching as you enjoy them.

the same here the same... it was also super difficult to get the quad of the collection, was I was able to purchase through a wonderful instagramer/blogger based on Uk. And I don't regret it, I use it all the time, just sad for the blush, it's so fantastically pink.

Aren't they too shiny for older eyelids? I'm 66 and have been using only matte eyeshadows(MAC and urban decay)?
I think you touched on why the palette might work for you and not others. You said your skin was dryer, those with oily skin may gind it gets eaten up instead of being long lasting. Also the trend for so long has been v strong intensity like pat mcgrath and natasha denona so when something softer and classic is available peoples concepts of quality is challenged. Im very fair and want someething sophisticated to wear daily and am relieved gentle shadows are still being made.

Hi, Angela! Those eyeshadows look great on you! I'll pass, thoug. I don't like / need the white one. About the other shadows, I already have them by another brands (and better than these ones, I think). I.e. Nude Dip Quad by Tom Ford is way better than this IMHO, and no white shade! Thank you for your time! (Oh, and I do like the golden-plated base).
When I go to Nordstrom the 328 is Blurry Mauve.
Hello, this is a different collection. Blurry mauve is part of Chanel's regular Les 4 ombres line. The eyeshadow quads shown in this video are part of Chanel's limited edition Les 4 ombres Byzance collection.

Your swatches look much better than some others I have seen. I am still thinking I may pass. I just do not think they will show up on my skin tone. I do like the colors though. Not a fan of the gold tone packaging.
I have 4 Chanel quads, purchased in the past couple years….I’ve had quality issues with two, mostly pans coming out. In general, I don’t love the shadow formula, compared to Chanel eyeshadow I bought in the 1990s. Packaging is gorgeous, the colors are beautiful, but on my skin, underwhelming for the price. These look a little more shimmery and pigmented, though.

I think it won't. This is the squalane. I examined the ingredients on the palettes. It's the sqaulane that they refer to and this is great for delicate skin on the eyes. Many manufacturers started to use it in eyeshadows. That's how they claim skin-caring formula. I think it's good. xoxo
@@Frenchforaday That puts my mind to rest. I know organic beauty brands that use castor oil or even sunflower oil in their powdery formulas. They don‘t last a year until they start to smell musty and get hard.
318 and 328 look good in the case and not on eyelids. They create a very ordinary look. Plus the color theme relates more to spring than fall. It is a pass for me.

Hi Jenny, I examined carefully the ingredient list. This is the squalane that they are referring to. A lot of the newest eyeshadow formulations started to include it as an ingredient because it is beneficial for the delicate skin on the eyes. xoxo

I think these new Chanel eye shadow quads are too warm in tone and rather garish for mature women.
Both palettes look too similar to purchase both IMO
