    Damn Im so glad your channel came up on my feed today. If you made long form versions of these sentence breakdowns you'd be one of the only people doing this on youtube. Super helpful and the chill vibes make it unique and easier to watch too. Thanks so much, hope your channel grows in the future.

      Thank you! I do enjoy breaking down Japanese in a laid-back format like this. It's good to know that some people also find it interesting. Will do my best to make a lot more videos and improve on quality as I go ^_^

    props for the in depth explanation! this kind of video is a little extensive for my level but regardless I learned a new word (劣等感) and got to appreciate the work you did in going over each component for learners~

      Thanks, Josh. I'm glad you liked it! It's a pretty difficult sentence, so I expected it might be a little intense for most learners... but those are often the kinds of sentences I find most interesting to break down. Anyway, more to come ^_^

    Pretty great breakdown, the way these clauses get concatenated in japanese is so unintuitive but so great when you start to get it

    • @japanesewithniko
      @japanesewithniko  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you liked it, thank you! I agree it is pretty unintuitive from an English perspective. I don't so much notice it anymore when listening to Japanese... unless I then try to break down the sentence like this. Because when you break it down into parts, the translation of each part often adds up to an overall translation that is a bit different.
      I'll probably do more breakdowns like these of comparatively lengthy sentences. If you ever encounter a Japanese sentence out in the wild and want me to feature it in a video, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • @raphael-handmadeofGod

    なるほど、、、そう英語に訳すのですね。
    Oh,,,this sentence can be translated into English like that.
    「ブス」も「ブサイク」も女性に使います。
    We, Japanese use both of them, “Busuブス“ and “Busaikuブサイク” for female.
    「ブサイク」は関西(大阪府、兵庫県、京都府、奈良県、和歌山県あたり)で使う言葉。
    But “ブサイク“ is used in Kansai area; Osaka Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, Kyoto prefecture, Nara prefecture etc.
    どちらも絶対使ってはいけません。
    You must not use these words anywhere anytime.
    男性には、最近では「ブサメン」という言葉がスラングにあります。
    If you want to use the word which means “ugly male “ in Japanese, nowadays,
    there is “ブサメン“ . It’s just slang using among young people.
    My English is poor, so I think that I made many mistakes in English, if i did, i apologize to you about that.

      @japanesewithniko  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      コメントをありがとうございます!「ブサメン」という言葉知りませんでした!ちなみに東京でも何回も「ブサイク」を聞いたことがあります(妻に教えてもらった言葉なんですが妻も東京の人です)。

      Thank you for your reply,
      I realized that “ブサイク不細工“ is used in Tokyo. I apologize about my mistake.
      Thank you again for your pointing out.
      And if a man’s face is nice, we use “イケメン” ikemen, I guess your wife knows this word.
      Besides if a man’s face is not good, but not bad, I mean “ so-so” or “just OK”, young people use “フツメン FUTUMENN“
      イケメン
      イケてる メン
      イケてる=nice, cool, etc.
      メン means some words under below
      男; man men
      面; face
      イケメン イケてる顔の男 → イケメン
      フツメン
      フツウ;ふつう; 普通 means just ok.
      普通の顔の男
      フツウ ノ カオ ノ オトコ

      フツメン

    I guess you can use "Ugly" to talk about yourself but rude to about another person. Is "Minikui" only for things other than appearance or also appearance?
    I had only ever heard of Busai.

    • @japanesewithniko
      @japanesewithniko  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll have to ask a native speaker, but now that you mention it, I don't think I've heard a person explicitly called 醜い. However, I have heard phrases like 醜い顔 (みにくい かお) "ugly face; disfigured face". So that is sort of describing a thing on a person...? ^_^

    • @pashiki5480
      @pashiki5480 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It might be weird to use Busai for feelings. Not sure. Deffo heard my Boss say it about peoples appearance.
      Hoping you make lots more videos similar to this. Very challenging but already have a better feel of grammar and the vocab. Also a feeling of Rettokan. lol. Cheers@@japanesewithniko

    • @japanesewithniko
