Last year a couple from England arrived in Chennai and bought a second hand autoricshaw like yours and named it Pete. They travelled all over South India right upto Kashmir. They have a TH-cam channel called Those Happy Days
@@TheRoamingPickels Yes, I was thinking about that. There is a German/Dutch couple who has done that too. Its sort of becoming adventure tourism which is great. Hope there are lots of exciting times to come. Welcome to India. I love they put a Kangaroo on your ride too.
@@TheRoamingPickels as a fellow Aussie , i have just found your channel , so excited for you . may i ask you how did you find the place to buy the tuk tuk , it looks like the same place that Liam and Janine went also . this is all so exciting to be able to follow you guys now on this trip .
@@gretamartin-r8n Thankyou! Yes, it was the same place that Liam and Janine went to, we just did some googling to find it. Glad you are enjoying the videos 😊
Looking forward to viewing your progress. We met you lovely pair at Lighthouse Beach in Kovalam where Rusty was parked up. Back in the UK now, but probably going back out to India in September. Great video by the way.
❤ hi from Australia just found your channel,i lived in India for 20 years, and will be always be my favourite you are very brave with the Tuk Tuk the roads are horrendous will watch all your vlogs South India is the best😅
Very nice video. Please ride behind a big vehicle it's a lot safer. Chennai used to be full of Anglo Indians. Today most of the Anglo Indians from Chennai have migrated to Australia
Thankyou! We tried many of these during our travels in India and I’m sure we will cover that in our upcoming episodes. Puri and Masala Dosas were a hit for us 😊
Hi Matt and Caitlin, The Roaming Pickels. make a plan to visit Mysore. It's a cultural city in India, and it's famous for yoga and its beautiful places. From here, you can visit other tourist spots like Ooty, Coorg, and Wayanadu.
It was an epic adventure, that's for sure! Unfortunately, we have already finished our journey and have moved on to our next country but thanks for the offer 😊
We did around 3000kms in Rusty down to the southern tip, up through Kerala, Karnataka and Goa and then back to Chennai so plenty more episodes to come ☺️
Thankyou 😊 Ahh cool! This video was actually filmed at the start of February 2024 so not sure what the Temperature is like at the moment unfortunately.
One simple tip about Indian Food. If you feel any curry spicy try combining it with some "Curd" or ask for some "Raita". That will help you in cutting the edge of spice level that you guys are not used to. Try to enjoy various cuisine in every states you are planning to visit in India.
Wow thanks for the helpful tips 😊 We will be sure to try that next time as we actually filmed this footage at the start of February and left India at the start of April.
Haha yes we follow "Those Happy Days" and got a lot of inspiration from them. We love watching their videos and still follow their current travels in the micro camper 😊
I am from Chennai, it is very energetic place, unbelievable u bought auto rickshaws, also looks like you stayed in PADI, it is an industrial area my home near to this place ,I am currently living in Gladstone, Qld
Energetic is the perfect word for Chennai! Yes looking at google maps, I believe we stayed in PADI. Ahh wow, Gladstone is also our home town! Such a small world 😊
Looks like a great adventure! Im thinking of doing something same to what you guys did. Would appreciate any tips or contacts to get myself a used tuk tuk like you guys did🙌🏼 thanks
Hi, thank you for your videos, they are really interesting. We are planning to buy a Tuk Tuk in India and we are looking for some information. Did you contact Ricksaw Rally to buy one of their ricksaw? Thank you so much in advance.
Wow we wish we had the time to travel across all of India however we were restricted with time and only managed to get as far north as Goa. We will have to return one day to continue our journey 😊
Haha it wasn't much of a training session unfortunately. We only drove Rusty around a quiet block for about 10 minutes, but we certainly learnt a lot over the next few days when we left Chennai 😊
They should make a tourist version of these autorickshaw with better engines. BTW there are American diplomat women who go to their embassy by rickshaw called pink rickshaw gang
SPICY 😄 Welcome to India mate. Even I can't handle southern spicy dishes. They are stronger in spices. I am having the similar adventures and cultural shock in Aussie at the moment. People can't think beyond Butter chicken. If you dont try different dishes, specially vegetarian and street food then you will miss a big chunk of the travel experience. Nothing can go wrong with a good fresh cooked meal. When I go back I do feel a bit different with food for a few days but you adjust quickly. At the worse the local doctors are amazing if you need them and they are way cheaper than Aussie.
Yes it would be awesome to see that happen. In saying that, we did have very minimal issues with Rusty. He was an absolute workhorse ☺️ Ahh wow that’s very interesting.
Thankyou! Haha yes us Aussies can be very plain with our food and tend to stick to what we know but I couldn’t agree more that you need to try the vegetarian and street food options to fully get a true Indian experience ☺️
Haha yes, we would probably pick a different type of transport next time however, we managed to do just over 3000kms in Rusty and we loved every moment of it 😊 We were not aware of Swiggy at the time but good to know!
We travelled from Chennai, South to Kanniyakumari, then North through Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and then East back to Chennai via Bangalore 😊 we will cover our travels in the upcoming episodes.

PLEASE USE MIC
🎙📢📣
Hi! Yes, a mic would certainly help but unfortunately, we don't have one 😊
This is crazy - so dangerous. And the south-west monsoon will definitely cause a lot of problems.
Sorry, Forgot to mention that this footage was filmed in February 2024 so at the time, it was still very dry 😊
You can cut an empty plastic pepsi bottle and use as a funnel
Yes, that's what we ended up using as the funnel was too big 😊
the van u saw with so many flowers and everything…means someone died…it is a funeral
Ahh that is sad. Thankyou for the information and may they rest in peace
Love how people complain that indian food is "too apicy" , " too hot",...WTF do these people expect?, cottage cheese?,..
