I had no problem with Ares, think I beat him on the first try. Rose however, wrecked me 20 times in a row. My buddy wanted a try (not as good as me) so laughing, I gave him the controller. She immediately overboosts straight passed him, right out of the ring and DQ's herself. He still brings it up to this day.
Glad someone finally posted an awesome play through who knew exactly how to play the game. You're a tournament level player :) Love this game by the way!
Impressive! I am currently going through all of the Armored Core games and then watching the speedrun after I beat them just to see the speedrun strats.
So I recently made a 100% game file using this speedrun as a guide. I have not yet moved on to AC3 because I want to get good using thrusters in AC2 because it has Limiter Release. Who in the arena or what mission do you recommend I play in order to maneuver better?
God0fCows I'm not entirely sure, I came into this particular run with countless hours of multiplayer experience vs other people in Last Raven, but I was using type A for those many years. I had to resort to original controls for this AC2 run, so I was still struggling with the controls myself. The ACs in the AC2 arena don't get particularly tough until you start getting to the top 25 or so, and they all offer their own unique challenges.
I think I can beat this IF, I go for the secret Radar component first... 21000c per Radar x2. Just memorizing where you got the secret parts. And in what order.
+l0rD n0o8sKilLz I would welcome others to try the same run as well. This particular run was only my 2nd attempt, and I was still having issues with the type B controls (I'm a type A user). I theorize that if played really, really well, someone can 100% this game in about 2 hours 45 minutes.
I wholeheartedly agree. I see you acquired the Secret Radar first, and all the other secret parts excepting I would assume the sawa as "endgame" to avoid the "Gaurd the Train" glitch. I also am an avid Type A user. So going back to Ac2 and Ac2:AA makes me feel fly like a drunkard.
I know this is 8 years old but there is a cut at 10:08 in the footage. The enemy AC drops drastically very fast and the audio and visuals hitch forward as if segmented but nothing from the timer. Seems odd.
This is an old VOD from a twitch Stream back when I only had 1-2mbps of upload speed on my internet. I'm sure some frames were dropped. The timer is still moving during the dropped frames. As far as the enemy AC's AP going down so fast, that's just what T9 arms do to the ACs. They're very deadly. I don't really have a reason to try any funny business for this run. This is just a casual speedrun anyways.
This was played on an ntsc ps2 slim, no speed-up. There are a couple missions where I could shave off some time. I theorize a really good 100% run can be down to 2:45:00.
+Pro Cow Amazing how Courtney is accusing me of harassing you, yet with no input from me, here you are sending me messages lighting up in my notifications... despite the fact that I have BLOCKED YOU. By the way, do you know what slander is? In order for what I am doing to be classed as slander I would have to knowingly be making false allegations. Are you seriously making the argument that I do not believe what I am saying? You still haven't published your optional parts. Every last one of mine has been on display now since the start of the month. It is one of the easiest things to do. Just a short vid of the selection in your garage's optional part section. Even a photo would do. I thought you simply needed to sleep because it was "past midnight" (though this didn't stop Courtney from messaging me constantly). You have had plenty of time to sleep. And it hasn't been midnight throughout the past 72 hours. I have given you every chance to provide real evidence in your defense, instead you have kicked it into the long grass because you know anything you publish will work against you. As usual I will make the argument: In order to get a feel for who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself "who is willing for this to be put before a lawful court?" - I am more than happy for this to happen, are you? The fact that you are refusing to publish your optional parts shows you are hiding something.
You two should just chill, your'e getting all worked up of something extremely trivial. Nobody plays AC2 anymore, and it doesn't have an active Speedrunning scene, so there's no reason to get aggressive with each other over it. Just have fun with the game. And Frank Jaeger, just emulate the NTSC version.
since nobody answered you in 3 years... he simply buys the arm weapons and the infinite energy code is "L1+L2+L3+R1+R2+R3" (all buttons simultaneously) this is known as "limiter removal" and was added by the developers as a little easter egg.
There was a mechanic in 2nd gen AC called limiter release. In AC2, if you press the shoulder buttons plus R3 at the same time, you'll get unlimited energy usage for a set amount of time depending on your core's stats. Following that time window, you'll have no energy and charging for equally as long.
God0fCows I can guess so, but with my PS2 i actually have, the connections aren't right and I don't want a adapter so I use my keyboard with this game. This keyboard especially with games that have joysticks to move, very hard to control.
@@Weldedhodag This is a warning sound when I enter the limiter release. The limiter release was a feature in AC2 and AA where you could temporarily grant yourself unlimited energy for a set period of time (usually between 30 seconds and 90 seconds depending on the core you choose). After that time is up, you can't use any energy and you spend twice as long recharging. I use this feature along with the plasma arms to mow through the arena and certain mission opponents really fast.
Comparing this to my underground lab speed. It's interesting how you catch up to me in the elevator. The first elevator alone gains you 4 seconds (16 for you, 20 for me). Either this is a PAL / NTSC issue or you've sped this up.
It's the limiter release mechanic. By holding down L1+R1+L2+R2+L3+R3 you get about 30 seconds of infinite energy followed by like a 2 minute period where you have no energy recovery.
Usually takes me an hour just to come up with a color pattern for my robot

Tank and a bunch of plasma cannons on the highway baby!
wtf i never knew there was a hidden part in test mode

Love this game by the way!
Its funny how in AC all the bases are so conveniently large to fit an AC,for no apparent reason! :p
I'm guessing because they build bases with MTs.
TMRaven You inspired me to get a PS2 and a AC 2 Disk, I Thank you for doing this.
So well done. You made me pick this game up again.

Freaking master class holy crap. Great job that was a pleasure to watch
My 3rd favorite game in the series! Right behind MOA and AC Nexus

Such cheese in the arena but it is a speed run haha
2:44:50 Omg that is so loud! LOL

I never managed to beat this game but I did beat the first one with sheer dumb luck and strategy. ........ I miss my A.C.2.
100% w/o H+, niiiice.gif :D
I'm just gonna like this video for a good reason cause I love the series. Come on From make the next amored core for ps4 or next gen already.
awesome dude
So yea, either there is a 20% speed increase with NTSC over PAL, or this has been sped up. Wouldn't be the first time, happened in wipeout aswell.

how did you get unlimited boost? and those pulse cannon arms so fast?
cheat

You don't need to steal the part from the train in 'Escort Train' for 100%?

how it is your dash does not consume energy?

Is it normal that you dont consume energy while overboosting?
it is not
It's limiter release by pressing L2+R2+R3 (or looking up, looking down and overboost if you remapped your controls)
TMRaven Do you use a normal ps2 controller?

I can guess so, but with my PS2 i actually have, the connections aren't right and I don't want a adapter so I use my keyboard with this game. This keyboard especially with games that have joysticks to move, very hard to control.
I'd imagine using the keyboard is better than using the d-pad. It makes my thumb hurt. But watching your run I finally beat Ares. Thank you so much!

Yes.
What is that grating beeping
When do you hear the beeping?

I wouldnt know because a bunch of sources are contradictory
