Thank you SO much for sharing your experience! You are brave! You are strong! You are worthy! I am looking into going to my first IOP & am scared & this helps 💓
Thank you for advocating for yourself and other! You rock you should differently become and a peer support specialist. Not sure how old you are but you would make a great support to others. Don’t give up keep push!!!
I loved it. I couldn't do halfway houses. I couldn't do circa at the VA. But outpatient helped a lot with my addiction recovery. Not being forced to stay in a I guess nice prison. But having a schedule to go somewhere. Talk. Go home. That routine helped a lot
Thank you so much for sharing. I'm nervous about IOP but it sounds a lot better overall than residential, with school and stuff. Two years after you made this video, I hope you're enjoying life.
i totally understand! in my experience, not at all. in my group, you'd usually have to introduce yourself and explain how you are doing that day, but no one is super aggressive or forces you to talk if you're extremely uncomfortable.
I tried Charlie healths IOP and I personally couldn’t handle being in a group. My mental health is shot and I’m too anxious and stressed. But I think IOP would be good for anyone. I think it’s worth a shot but I personally couldn’t. I would definitely try again
How consistent are reviews for these places? I'm dealing with intense anxiety that is debilitating in work. Looking around my area...and most of then have like 4.8 star reviews. I'm usually a bit skeptical with reviews and hoping their accurate because I can't afford to be jumping around
it can be hit or miss. i'd try to find someone who went to the particular IOP to talk to before going, maybe someone who left a review you could email?
I have depression and anxiety too, but I don't even want to wake up or do anything, I don't know if my psychiatrist gets it tho bc she says she doesn't think iop is for me and says it's like partial hospitalization. Doesn't make sense tho, maybe there's just nothing here locally. She says there isn't those residential programs for depression, etc, like there is for eating disorders.
That's odd, it is almost always usually 3 hours 3 times a week and one 1-1 appointment which totals to 10 hours per week. You get to live at home and it is much less than PHP. As for residential, there are programs for drug abuse and eating disorders that treat anxiety and depression as a side effect, but I think she is right by saying there are little to no facilities solely focused on anxiety and depression.
@@mckennac6628 oh, I spoke w someone working in the mental health department that stated iop is for transitioning into hospitalization if that's someone's plan for care, that's prob wut my psychiatrist meant. Reading bout it online tho, it seems like it also stands as its own separate option of care, so ?-? I guess it depends on the healthcare system, idk. I have no idea what to look for 💀

Your right about needing "right type of Care". You seem fun, needing outlets beyond normal mondane life. Always keep the goals in front of you

I did a one on one evaluation first to make sure the group was right for me, and then started after that. Good luck!
