hey, thank you guys for watching! some of what i say is my personal opinion, and i try to make that clear in the video. i hope y'all learned a little bit more about this industry that has been hidden for so long. i know when researching, i learned things i did not know before. it is so important that these facilities get shut down.

    i am so sorry that you had a negative experience. i went to the one in CT for 70 days when i was 14, and it saved my life. the troubled teen industry is very flawed and i am happy that you shared your story:

    was there for 8 days and some kid tried to fight me for saying that a city was dangerous, if i ever got sad and wanted alone time i would have to be watched 24/7. one appointment a week with a psychiatrist when we were told that it would be daily psychiatry. yea the place is nice and bougie house looks nice sure, but overall the care and attention towards the kids there was absolutely horrible. 0/10.

    How consistent are reviews for these places? I'm dealing with intense anxiety that is debilitating in work. Looking around my area...and most of then have like 4.8 star reviews. I'm usually a bit skeptical with reviews and hoping their accurate because I can't afford to be jumping around

    Firstly, let me say that I have no earthly idea how I stumbled on this video but I wished I watched this in high school. You probably didn’t realize it while you were making this video but unbeknownst to you this story is like a dating behavioral blueprint for guys. It took me until my freshman year of college to realize expressing your interest in a girl heavily is a bad move. Also when a girl dates a guy out of pity it almost never goes well. However, you touched on a point that I wish I realized in high school which is for some odd reason girls find guys who are in relationships already attractive. Acting like you’re not really interested is a plus. I’m not saying this to bash women or anything but it was a tough pill for me to swallow being an average guy with a romantic view of the world as a teen. For sure these things that I pointed out aren’t 100% and there are exceptions but trying them for myself In college was crazy successful. Importantly though your advice to women is pretty solid and I wish more women had more access to good dating advice. Unfortunately, those primal triggers that we have sometimes over power our better judgement. Being in my mid 20’s I’m now realizing the value in impulse control and really getting to know the women who I date instead of manipulating them for my own personal gratification. I’ve in the shoes of that 3rd guy you dated long term and there’s always that lingering guilt for ghosting women instead of just being honest with them. It may sound weird but I wish there was an off switch for the male sex drive as well as the desire to have a variety of partners. I’m not speaking for all men but generally speaking I don’t think women are aware of what guys (Especially straight men) go through when it comes to their sexuality and dating habits. I think finding a guy who has a good grasp on his urges with a healthy attitude towards women’s feelings is important. Those guys who take advantage of people who are obviously struggling with mental health issues need to be easily identifiable but they’re truly wolves in sheep’s clothing. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment but I enjoyed your post and please forgive me for my take on dating dynamics between genders. They can come off as crass I know. Ultimately, it was cool to hear an experience on the other side of the spectrum and it really made me think about some of my regretful behaviors while I was in group therapy as well as in College/High School. PS. If you made it this far you probably clearly picked up on the fact that I have a shit load of time on my hands… I’m deployed in the Army overseas with time to kill. Stay positive and stay away from hard drugs 😝

    Thank you for posting this video so people can find a place to exchange their experiences. However, I can't help to feel sorry if someone changed her mind about getting help from NA because of this review. Based on experience, I can tell you that NA is probably the most caring MH facility one can find in US. If you are someone who needs residential care, please also watch Jessica Ruben's you tube videos called Day in a Residential Facility. She doesn't name the place but from the descriptions one can tell she is talking about NA and she gives a clear picture of living there. I can just tell that I'm amazed not only with the level of care that the staff give their clients, but also with their follow ups and continuing care and support groups for both actice and alumni parents and clients too. Please do more research before making any decisions because this place might save you or loved one.

      if so, she is speaking on her experience at a "young adult" house. i was at an adolescent house, where there are not as many privileges. it is much different to be kept there against your will versus being able to sign yourself out if you want to.

    it’s important to remember that every person’s experience is different. i was there for two months and found it very helpful. i felt very supported the whole time and still keep in touch with people from there and participate in alumni programs. ( i was there nine months ago and they still reach out and ask how i’m doing) i recommend newport to everyone i know who is struggling and encourage you to do your own research. ❤ not invalidating your experience and i’m sorry it was not good for you. i just want people to remember everyone’s experience is different and i found it really helpful

    • @mckennac6628
      @mckennac6628 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      everyone has their own experience and i'm so glad that yours was better than mine! i do not personally recommend newport, but i agree with you that it is important to do research about a program before making a decision

    hey, I was there a few months ago and I had a somewhat similar experience and I want to validate how hard this must be to post. I don't usually talk about my rtc or inpatient experiences bc of the trauma. I was wondering if you knew about the app? They have an app that's similar to Instagram where you can post how you feel about your experiences and the therapists and cc's and other clients see it. I find it helpful, but that's j a suggestion. also, I was at two different houses but in CA, and some of the things that you mentioned have changed at least in that location. so I'm glad it was made aware that those things aren't right. have you gone to any other places that did help?

    • @a-squared1518
      @a-squared1518 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i also want to say that I definitly had a better experience than you, so if anyone is reading this and has to go, know that everyone's experiences are different and I do miss newport often, along w/ my friends who went there.

    • @mckennac6628
      @mckennac6628 2 ปีที่แล้ว
