And why Africans doesn’t have a problem with the Jamaicans, Haitians, Trinidadians not calling themselves Africans. Why do Africans think we black Americans should accept Africans Americans. My race/ethnicity is that I AM A BLACK AMERICANS. When we were saying we are Africans they would say no you’re not Africans. Crayon or not I am a black American. This topic in my opinion too often tends to paint us FBA's as some how the main perpetrators of the division. As Phil said most of our history we've identified by race, not by nationality, not by ethnicity. What we learned is that this is the exact opposite of what these other non-American groups who migrate here practice. So now we're doing the same as everyone else, and I'm tired of us being labeled as divisive for just following what everyone else is doing. I'm no longer going to listen to some non-American complaining about FBA's being divisive until they show me that they've had these discussions with people other than FBA's and with their own groups...

    And Cam is from Harlem, the “Pan African “ headquarters. He know what’s up. Black Americans from other states jumped on the bandwagon all late and is keeping the narrative alive, and they weren’t even around any Africans. I always said it’s going to take a Harlem native to clear this sh!t up. Some of us actually know more foreigners than actual Black Americans., if anybody recognizes the difference it’s us (New Yorkers) Cam is in his late 40s born and raised in NYC. He lived his whole life being the only black American in many situations. Then he became a hip hop star, traveling the world way before social media. I love Cam for keeping it real and not tip toeing around the truth. He’s a good source and a stand up man. He could of easily fronted like a lot of them do.

      He was culturally raised around that. Just like the Latinos in nyc saying the N word all day. Black Americans from other states don’t understand how we allowed it, but we was all born into this sh!t in nyc. That’s my point. Still doesn’t change his experience and who he is. We all had to survive in our environment. Cam is telling you from his own mouth what it is. Besides, we’re talking about African descendants. Him knowing some Spanish words, having some Spanish swag and flking on Spanish joints during a time in hip hop when Latinos was preferred doesn’t change anything he said. Black Americans in nyc will claim the smallest percentage of anything just to fit in at one time. A lot of black Americans from nyc are more socially connected to Latin culture than their own southern roots. I don’t think most black peoples understand how culture and migration works. That’s why this topic is like filling a bucket with a hole in it.

The time you have been in America you have been replenished with African blood until the 1900's and present time. Genocide where approximately 1 million people perished like in Rwanda (Hutus vs Tutsis). The eating of dogs, monkeys, maggots and/or worms as a diet staple like in Malawi and other nations. Coup de etats in most African nations since the 1950's independence movements. Contemporary slavery by selling $400.00 a piece for Black Africans kidnapped after trying to flee from Libya to Italy across the Mediterranean. Why not go to those ports where the heavily armed slave traders are, and announce you're a proud Black African? He'd realize they're involved in the forced genital mutilation of their female counterparts to force Islam upon them. He probably couldn't identify with the butchering of the albino community to use their body parts for incantations and food. I seriously doubt he'd be psychologically prepared for that;

    At this point isn't it just semantics? As a Nigerian American myself who is raising his consciousness. Isn't what matters is that we are from the same ilk and that we will show up for one another? Male, Female, Africans, Caribbeans, foundational Black Americans. We all have our misguided ways that contribute to the community’s dysfunction. But how sweet it would be when we can all see that we are ONE and are willing to die for one another as our forefathers have done in the past. Let us not have them die in vain. We must finish their work! Now is the time.

    Im hurt that we have even divided ourselves like this. I was born in America yet, very soon I would like to find my way back home to mama Africa from where my ancestors were taken. They call out to me and I would want nothing more in this life time to be back in the land of my ancestors and to breathe the air, eat the fruits , the food and embrace the culture. I prAy to the universe, my ancestors and mami wata to help me return to my tribe and our true and only home. I pray that I am met with open arms and I know she is building a supportive and loving tribal home for me and my kin there. I pray you all find your way back home where we belong and unify together to fight the reAl culprit who created this mess.
    This American is ready to come back home , I hate it here. I am not apart of this foolishness ancestors, dont come for me. I enjoy and understand my birth right.

      "I hate it here" ...
      and thats really what this conversation is about. Because this is the case for some theres a desire to be somewhere else and shed yourself of the place you hate and along with that place comes your identity .. black.
      The problem with this is that you desire to be African is rooted in your hate of this place and in this place you are black. Im not accusing you of hating being black but I kinda am, and you wouldn't be the only one because Pan-Africanism too is rooted in the idea that being black in America is something to disliked and to be escaped.
      This also explains why Africans in America dont want to be called black and why they take issue with us embracing being black American because its understood that being black American is something that is hated.

The term American has blood 🩸 on its name. Innocent people were killed, raped and oppressed for that name to exist and this is the name you fight so hard to be labelled. How foolish and ignorant. Instead of fighting to unite with your African brothers and sisters, you would rather fight to identify with your oppressor. “Malcolm X” would be turning in his grave right now.
