You are an incredible teacher and I (and many others) truly value your insight and inspirations to Chopin's masterpieces! Op. 56 No. 3 is a gem of gems. So much to decipher... yet I often simply stop analyzing in order to enjoy the moment ... and with Chopin's music there are many such moments!
Thank you for your great teaching and beautiful playing. Your clear explanations regarding what is happening throughout make so much sense. Thank you for sharing your profound gifts as a teacher and a performer,
Greg, this is wonderful, your analysis of one of my favorite works by Chopin, and the finest of all his Mazurkas. Try as hard as we can it is difficult to describe the shifting emotional landscape Chopin presents to us, but here he is in full command of his powers as a composer. The prodigy is gone, as is the phenomenon... it is just his mind and the music that was there, and his ability to communicate it in performance and publication. I do not identify it as love, with which he was not familiar, as much as pain, sorrow, loss, joy, with which he was. From the moment he shared his gift, a new era of music was born. We humans, of course, want more. Thank you so much for giving us more.
I fell in love with this mazurka not from the first listening. In the the beginning of video I’m absolutely agree with you, that it is so difficult to understand if you hear it first time. But now it’s one of my favourite. Music is so mysterious and bewitching. And I’m so lucky you have analyse about it. Very interesting! All information you gave is like diamonds. I’m super excited to watch other video analyses you made. Thank you a lot for all your job. And thank you a lot for piano illustrating👏
Thank you!! Yes, there are analyses of all Chopin's music. I've being doing them during 2 COVID years! A.lot.of.work. But I'm happy it's useful for others!!
He loved his country so much so that, as I'm sure you are aware, he had his heart cut from his body for his sister to smuggle back to Poland to be hidden inside a concrete pillar at the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw. If I'm not mistaken, during WW2 the Nazi's discovered Chopins heart after the church was hit by a bomb and thankfully they hid it away until after the war was over and it was handed back over to the Polish people and the Church where it remains in a crypt to this day, no longer hidden!!!
This is an unique music. Your video is so useful for the understanding of this difficult master piece. Thank you so much...
Thank you for watching!

It could be called the Mazurka-Fantaisie!
