Scott, I will never forget your humming melodies into the answering machine at 3rd and Alameda loft, 1990. You were doing paste up at the LA Daily news and I was visiting while you were at work. Now you’re part of my cheering squad “on the other side.”
The group members are talented musicians who were so original and interesting. Scott had undeniable charisma and a great voice. He was an attractive man. I hate chemical dependency and what it does to create SO much pain for people.
Lots of comments on his drug use here. Honestly, he lived life the way he wanted to and died prematurely because of it. Let’s just celebrate his brilliant music. None of us - not one of us - knew this man personally, so let’s drop the act. He was a flawed human like a lot of people, except he was gifted with one of the greatest voices of a generation. Let’s just appreciate him for what he was - a brilliant artist. He was also a junkie. Let’s accept him for who he was, both the good and the bad.

Man, I can't flippin believe this is the same guy who sang at the unplugged concert, man when my children ask me about drugs I will tell them Scott's story, rock hard but stay away from drugs and alcohol or your passing will be as sad and tragic as Weiland's
Try listening to this through a different sound system. I listened to this same video through a Sony bluetooth speaker previously, and it sounds much better compared to the relatively wimpy PC speakers I'm using at the moment. It's too bad Scott is gone...I don't think most people realize just how talented he really was...listen to him cover The Doors "Break On Through", for example.

I hear Scott struggling a bit on this version. The musicians behind him nail it, though, for sure, and spice it up really nicely. Scott was immensely talented, and on the first two tours, he was mesmerizing both vocally and as a frontman. But after '95, I don't know that he was ever consistently on top of his game ever again. Addiction really got the best of him.
Its crazy to think: The guitarist on the left OD'd in early 2015. The guitarist on the right was kicked out of the band, the drummer quit, and bassist (rumor has it) was the one doing drugs with Scott right up until he died.... Though I appreciated "Blaster," man... it was also really sad seeing WHY that band existed.
