    Best color grading correction video so far for me. This clearly explained the concepts, gave many examples, gave tips, and also revealed some standards used in professional work. +1

    get adobe premiere, use the lumetri - that's literally all you need. 7 monitors is unnecessary unless you're a massive wide scale production, which i can guarantee no one watching this video is involved with.

    We make off-roading videos and because we are often running up and down rocky trails and need something small/light we use several different iPhones (a 4S, a 6, a 6S and a 7) and one DJI Osmo (similar camera chip to a GoPro). We have to do some level of correction on everything just to get the colors to match and contrary to what some others have posted here, our videos still come out pretty darn good after correction. So far we have been able to do it all with the built-in (weak) color correction tools in Final Cut Pro X, but I think we're about to bite the bullet and move to DaVinci ..

      To me it looks like he used about 3 products. He also seems to have not that much hair as his hairstyle already shows it...
      1. Mouse (for volume)
      2. Wax (to keep it in place, with the mouse you can also style your hair WITH volume)
      3. Mat (non-shiny) hairspray (to keep his hair solid)

      Glad you like! Solid genetics beat top of the line chemicals any day, but I use one or two products depending on the style. I assure you, I have more hair than I know what to do with most days. Most of the work is really just blow drying followed by pomade, and I avoid mousse as my hair is too thick already.

      Specs seem okay. If you want to render faster in Adobe applications, even an 500 USD Laptop will outperform your Mac....So opt for an decently spec'd PC (saves a lot of money).
      If you do need Mac OS...then try to use Apple's Final Cut Pro. It should render your footage a lot faster than in any Adobe app. Final Cut Pro is perfect for slow Mac's in general.

    There's a lot of 'what ifs' but not much discussion on how to properly color grade. When to saturate, adjust white balance, etc, would have been a lot more helpful than just saying, "when is saturation too much?" Then never elaborating on it.

    What I like:
    • Most of the grading examples. There's too much washed out/milky black/everything gray/straight-from-log-or-raw “gradings” nowadays. They are ugly and uncomfortable to watch.
    • Some explanations you give. Many TH-cam videos get things wrong because their authors simply don't know about what they're talking about.
    What I don't like:
    • You get a little bit technical in some aspects, yet you don't show the actual grading process not even for a second.
    • The video where the hoster talks has lots of aliasing, and it seems to me the shutter speed wasn't set correctly.

    anyone knows what the color space is for a 2013 MacBook Pro is?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ProdigyMusicBeats The Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2013 displays 88% of the colors of Adobe RGB 1998. Adobe RGB 1998 is a much larger color space than the more commonly used sRGB, so for web work, the sRGB color space is more important. When compared to sRGB, it managed to display 99% of sRGB after calibration. It will output an 8-bit stream.
      Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh@bandh.com >Mark

    • @ProdigyMusicBeats
      @ProdigyMusicBeats 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +B and H so in a nutshell sRGB is more important but my MacBook doesn't offer it efficiently and effectively

    • @atephoto
      @atephoto 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for rusty English: Think of it as sRGB "fits inside" AdobeRGB. If it fits inside there is NO PROBLEM because it will get "scaled to proportions" without errors, at least if your JPEG (sRGB) has a attached color profile. :) If the JPEG (sRGB) don't have a profile and getting watched on AdobeRGB monitor - you will then probably see a increased saturation of colors in your image. The other way around is a bigger problem.. Your PC dont know what monitor is attached, so if you try to display a AdobeRGB file on a sRGB monitor then it will do so too without regards, and you maybe only 'see' a bit lower saturation but in fact it could be VERY saturated on the disk. Primary beginner mistake; many people post images to internet with AdobeRGB profile and the colors/brightness they see in browser is very different from what they see in programs like Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. This is where AdobeRGB starts to give beginners problems.. If you don't read and study when to use and work in AdobeRGB, ProphotoRGB, CIE-LAB etc, then you should definitely stick to sRGB ONLY. When you are changing colorspaces you HAVE to know your color -theory, not just thinking "it's better like this". There is also one benefit if monitor shows 90% of AdobeRGB but 100% of sRGB and you work in sRGB, you gonna see all colors you edit while you're in sRGB. In AdobeRGB you have to HOPE your "not displayed colors" is correct, and usually they are not since "fantasy colors" start to happen right outside sRGB. LAB-printers can most of time print AdobeRGB but that doesnt mean YOU should work in AdobeRGB. sRGB is best for the "average Joe" like me and you even if I know my color theory.

    • @atephoto
      @atephoto 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got no problems working on important files in Photoshop in sRGB or Phase One - CaptureOne Pro 9.2 + Lightroom and then export to sRGB for retouching in Photoshop. There is only a very few of us (most of them in fashion, pro landscape photogs, etc) that can and should work in bigger colorspaces like AdobeRGB and ProphotoRGB. Well, this is my opinion but those guys will also agree because they know the difference. :) Some people say don't use sRGB; "those gradients in sky etc will get posterized or whatever in sRGB".. Those people don't know it can happen in AdobeRGB when you cannot see it on your sRGB monitor.. End of rant(?).. luminous-landscape.com/articleImages/Images32/horseshoe.jpg

      JamesHD1990 I agree, but I find it strange BH recommending something that is not recommended by Canon and is not covered under the warranty if ML bricks your camera..
      That's all.

      It isn't illegal. And BH didn't really promote it, they just implied that it is possible to do so without getting new gear. People who haven't heard or haven't used ML wouldn't even know that part of the video might have been about ML, so it isn't going to harm anybody.

    Very misleading title... no clear tips at all, just hooking into the tendency for people to watch "Top Tips" videos
