  • We spent our first full day in Florida at Universal Studios! It was my first time visiting Universal with a service dog. Their accessibility was fantastic and employees were sooo sweet and accommodating. 10/10 in my book! Hagrid's ride was AMAZING! An absolute must if you're visiting!
    The team we are with is @cadetnoxus on instagram, and we later meet @rescue_service_dog in the park!

    Ridley is a multipurpose service dog in training. She is task trained to mitigate my psychiatric and physical disabilities. She is granted public access rights to enter non-pet friendly places via The Americans With Disabilities Act and California Disabled Persons Act. Bringing non-service dogs into non pet friendly establishments is illegal. Faking a service dog is a federal crime, and a misdemeanor in many states punishable by $1k+ in fines and jail time. Please do your research before bringing your dog into public to find out if they are pet friendly. Target. Walmart, Disneyland, and any theme park or store/establishment that sells food is NOT pet friendly.

    not gonna lie. when they asked BOTH questions? i LEGIT started tearing up bc they NEED to ask those things more often. MORE businesses NEED to be asking. like i WANTED to be there just bc it would be SO much more safe than anywhere i go here at home.

      I was under the impression it's illegal for them to ask those questions due to medical privacy. "Is it a service dog" usually gets by but not usually "what is it trained to do", I thought?

    Love all your blogs by the way (especially Disney ones!) I am an Orange County, CA girl with a service dog too, so it's cool to see other teams out there. Just wanted to comment about what you guys were saying when you saw the other team. I also, would have been very appreciative for the heads up that another team was behind you. But because I know my own history, remember there are always handlers that cannot communicate for various reasons -- such as PTSD or anxiety, or selective mutism. I have DID and CPTSD and have had years of selective mutism and at times probably couldn't have done you the courtesy. Although, I probably for that reason, would have tried not to walk near you either! Anyway, that's my little soapbox! Keep making great videos!

    So I have a quick question for you. I’m starting to show signs that I am disabled and I may qualify for a service dog. I have multiple mental disabilities, and an issue with my knees and stability. How would you suggest I go about talking to my parents and my doctor as I am underage. Also, I play sports at a high level, but with a service dog I would be unable to keep playing correct? Sorry if this is a weird comment, I just know you have disabilities that are similar to mine, so I thought I should ask.

    • @ohgodimlost421
      @ohgodimlost421 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd recommend just starting by telling your parents some of the problems youvenoticd and ask them to bring you to a doctor about it. You can then recommend some things you think you might have and do some research about how to get a service dog in your area. Just generally do a bunch of research about everything!

    I'm from MI an 39yr woman civilan CPTSD Survivor with Hypokalemia/Hypoglycemia which both influence one another like a person with diabetes how is it my right to be a candidate for a Service Dog at facilities is less and undermined by facilities who see those who served are more important to become a candidate, how are we any different with a same diagnosis of PTSD? I have applied everywhere for a PTSD and Medical Alert Service Dog, but I'm constantly told Veterans and 1st responders get helped first, and can automatically be bumped ahead on a waiting list over others with worse case then them how is that fair. I have been told by many facilities they are only taking Veterans and 1st responders over civilians severe cases for god knows how long after their site says otherwise. This is disregarding civilians who seriously need a Service Dog, even get from facilities told try again in 3yrs trying to find a way to weed out those with the 2+ year waiting list who is serious and who isn'tnt is ludicrous. While many places I contact that Claim "we don't double standard 1st come first assisted 'liers', that they accept my and others medical reason for a Service Dog. Only to be asked if we served.....suddely nope we can't help you at this time or told you can be on waiting list. A waiting list in which they'd deliberately push further back of line civilians who truly need a Service Dog, because "Veterans and 1st Responders will always get preferential treatment be a candidate without any issues and 1st served by facilities over a civilian". As many facilities say because their lives and situation are more important than a civilian struggling with CPTSD/PTSD and Medical Issue....
    Its saddening and appalling to pay$$$ to send in applications and get zoom calls just for them to say "Your not good enough, you probably don't know what your getting into, you don't meet our qualifications" I have after being recommended by my Psychologist, EMDR Therapist and Doctor know what it means to have a Service Dog as I have spent 2 years research and learning all about it....yet because I'm a woman civilian they assume I'm not up to the task as if I would be incapable 'they don't know me or my life what right does someone have to dismiss you over such ignorance and assumptions. You could have one of the worst cases than a veteran or 1st responders just to be dumb downed, humiliated, devalued and be told your not worth their time and don't fit their "Ideal Candidate" along with this "who makes priority over a civilian" with a worse case is hypocrisy.
    I have seriously about given up what's the point, funny plenty of Service Dog Facility for physical handicapped and Veterans , but when it comes to Civilians who need a Service Dog and aren't handicapped nor a Veteran they make it practically impossible and it destroys you on such a deeper-level because of bias and what not that your not worth their time and your case is not as worth as a veterans.
    Right now I have given up hope and my specialists have stepped in to try and reach out to the facilities because nothing I do works and its extremely discouraging to be put through hell by facilities who claim " they would take someone like you. Then told first we need $$$ from you for an application to be sent, just to be told you not worth their time, but your money they take just to submit an application is? My family, friends and I have been doing fundraising but still no facilities will take me because they said right now Veterans and 1st responders take center over civilians right now. The applications are a way to root out and find excuses not to take you, especially if your a civilian, also you can say your going to get a Service Dog and fill out applications but there is no guarantee.

    Why do you have such tight collers on your dog? And why 2 of them, she looks so uncomfortable?

    • @theservicehyena3088
      @theservicehyena3088  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey! I appreciate the concern but I assure you that while the colors are snug, neither are tight. One of the collars is a training collar and three of my fingers easily fit under it (The guide for fitting collars typically says two fingers is the minimum for a safe fit) and the other collar, which has her tags on it, easily fits my entire hand under it. it is very normal for service dogs and working dogs in general, as well as dogs that are using any form of training collar, to wear multiple collars as training collars do not stay on them when they’re off leash and it’s always important to keep tags on your dog in case of an emergency. it’s actually dangerous to keep a collar too loose as a dog could easily slip out of it or get it caught somewhere and cause injury.

    Great puppies. Please point your camera at more than the back of the dogs head and your feet, please. Its good to see people's reaction and the dogs reaction to that. You are in public, no privacy issues, they are all recording you and your dog, so you should not worry about filming in public. When I am out and about, and filming, with my SD, I show all that I see, and that the dog sees. I have lots of very interesting encounters filmed with my Winnie.

      Not that you deserve any sort of response, but I am deaf. I rely primarily on lip reading, which is impossible with mask which are obviously present in the video. I can recognize my friends voices easier than random strangers who are wearing masks. Seems like you’re saying people shouldn’t talk to me because I can’t hear. Thanks a ton, from now on I’ll make sure I’m not communicated with. In this video i am being accommodated for since I am avoiding the the embarrassment of having to ask the person to repeat themselves multiple times. But you just made the embarrassment exist so thanks.Thanks for your comment, keep it yourself next time.
