Very good comment. Asami herself explained their originality in an interview in their early years: "We are inspired by the most popular sounds of western music, and blend them with Japanese melodic motives. On that basis, we write our own songs." That certainly explains LOVEBITES' special sound: western Metalheads feel understood, and also attracled by a new blend. *And* : Asami translates their *Japanese* thoughts and lyrics into English, _meaningful_ lyrics, which also gives their songs a specific "signature style".

    LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been through despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to never care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
    SOLO: miyako / both
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
SOLO: midori [guitar] / miyako [piano]

Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song.
In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'.
Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'.
Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude".
"SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

    • @dymyavalor6135
      @dymyavalor6135 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It is worth adding to this that Russia received Poland as a result of the redistribution of Europe after the Napoleonic Wars and the victory over Napoleon. Before that, Poland was part of Prussia. Poland received from the Russian tsar autonomy within the Russian Empire, self-government and a constitution.
But I don't think that the story of the creation of the Swan Song Lovebites actually has this historical background. This is a purely musical work and such dubious bindings only belittle its significance and greatness. The warriors who enter Valhalla fighting the enemy, not their own government. And the lotus is a symbol of purity, not conspiracy and rebellion.

    LOVEBITES.
They are listened not only by metalheads. Ladies came out of their metal genre and have wider spectrum of fans.
They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal, hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. Obviously they draw a lot from British, German and American metal. All this makes their style unique.

Don't know your favorite genre but Empty Daydream live 2019 is more hard rock, 80s feel with a great groove with catchy chorus and backing vocals. You should definitely check it out. 😊🤘

Miyako is a generational talent who is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She has been classically-trained on the piano since the age of 3. Miyako also composed & arranged "Swan Song" and this track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus). Miyako's piano intro is Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor", aka the "Revolutionary Étude". If this song is too fast, this might be more your cup of tea - "Epilogue" LIVE : th-cam.com/video/JIAJYBuuKGM/w-d-xo.html

'Etude Op.10, No.12' ( or 'Revolutionary Etude') by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland.
'Swan Song' ( lyrics - Asami / music - Miyako) from LOVEBITES third studio Album 'Electric Pentagram' (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which Swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of Swans is amazingly beautiful.
'Etude' by F. Chopin and 'Swan Song' are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, 'Etude' and 'Swan Song' are played together.
In an interview given after the release of the 'Electric Pentagram' Album, singer Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake'. During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Since the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured in the shot.
Asami added some Scandinavian mythology (Valhalla) to the lyrics. The attitudes towards death among the Japanese Samurais and the Scandinavian Vikings were very similar. For Samurais and Vikings, death in combat with weapons in their hands is a death worthy of a warrior. Death in battle is better than death from old age in your bed. All Vikings dreamed of dying in battle because then they could go to Valhalla (Hall of warriors killed in battles) where they would meet God Odin and other Vikings who fought bravely and died in arms.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack, Lovebites fans around the world will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, and Haruna, Drums, who are former members of Destrose, a band that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons, she is the bassist in this video.
    The present members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior' who is also a body builder.
Miyako, Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. the 'serious' one with long black hair. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio.
Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university, playing her first live show with the band in March 2023. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was about 16.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long.
    A gentle correction if I may, Chopin is pronounced Show-Pan. A quote from wiki;
"Frédéric François Chopin (born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin; 1 March 1810 - 17 October 1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period, who wrote primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation" ".
A number of his works were composed as practice pieces for students of the piano and are difficult to play well. Miyako is a classically trained pianist from 3 years of age, taking up (self taught) guitar in her late teens, It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also happens to play guitar in a metal band.
If you enjoyed this song, here are a few recommendations for further listening. Break The Wall, Thunder Vengeance, M.D.O. , Scream For Me (live from 'Daughters of the Dawn, "OK Haruna, Give Me The Beat") Winds of Transylvania (written for a Japanese Anime series VLADLOVE) Frozen Serenade, Edge of the World, Epilogue, Golden Destination. There are many more I could suggest, but this should give you an idea of their range. The Wolfpack will have more suggestions. I would suggest watching live performances wherever possible. The ladies really shine on stage. I have been to London twice recently to see them during their just concluded European tour, and am so glad I did. I have been a fan of Rock and Metal music right from the beginning with bands like Sabbath and Deep Purple, and Lovebites are amongst the best I have ever seen. 🐺

Great to see you getting back to the goddesses of metal! Miyako, the pianist and guitarist, started playing classical piano when she was 3 I think and then started to play guitar at 18 when she got into metal. She also released a solo instrumental EP where she did classical piano arrangements of classic rock and metal songs including Battery by Metallica. Lovebites is starting to get more popular worldwide cuz they are currently on their The Thin Line Between Love & Hate world tour and they have a new EP coming out August 28th. The drummer Haruna, whenever the camera focuses on her, is always smiling behind the kit too. I can't remember if you've reacted to Break the Wall or not but that's my personal favorite song of all time and their most recent album Judgement Day has several bangers as well.

When I didn't know Lovebites and saw this intro, it was immediately clear to me that this woman was a classical pianist. You can see it in the way she holds her hands. This is how you only play with classical training. The fact that she is also a goddess on the guitar and composes most of the songs for the band makes her an icon in my eyes. This woman (Miyako) is extraordinary, like everyone in this band. The band is a godsend, I think.

_All of them_ can play piano. But only Miyako can play it on world class concert level, as displayed here.
In the *live* version of their song "Lost in the garden", also Asami (main vocalist) plays piano on stage - but keys which are rather simple -, while Miyako shreds on her guitar.
*Miyako can also play bass guitar and drums, and she can sing.* She started both instruments during the pandemic, due to her general openness to instruments, and to "bridge" the loss of their former bass player Miho. On that way, LOVEBITES were able to continue songwriting in a span of 2 consecutive years "between a rock and a hard place".

If the music of LOVEBITES is too complicated for you and you have no desire to listen to the songs of this band in your free time, then this means that this is not your music.🤗
The music of LOVEBITES (including the song arrangements) is more complex than the music of most metal bands. This music is largely based on classical music. Miyako (brunette - piano, guitars, backing vocals), who wrote about 50% of the music for LOVEBITES, received a classical education in piano and planned to make a career as a pianist until ... she picked up a guitar (at 18 years old).
    * All six ladies of LOVEBITES, including new bassist Fami (since October 2022), have been playing the piano since childhood. The piano was the first instrument they started playing (from 2 years old, from 3 years old, from 5 years old, etc.) Fami, before starting to play the bass guitar, learned to play in addition to the piano also on the violin.
Many of the metal melodies written by Miyako are based on her love of classical music. It is a well-known fact that classical music has hundreds - thousands of times fewer fans than pop music. Because classical music is much more complex in structure, much more difficult to perform and much more difficult to understand. To understand and love the music of LOVEBITES you need to listen to their songs more. These are elite musicians, this is an elite band. This is elite music: in the meaning they put into their songs, in the arrangement of songs, in the technique of performing songs and in the form of presenting the results of their work (songs).🤔

I suspect that many Lovebites fans, including myself, are also lovers of various types of classical music. While I remember your first LOVEBITES reaction (and I think, there was also this annoying troll in the comments), I don't remember, if we had time for proper recommendations. All of LOVEBITES' songs are quite good, without exception! Really! But they are diverse, and so you can choose, what's best for you. If you want proper Thrash Metal, there are some examples to recommend. If you want rather "rocky", take e.g. "Dancing With The Devil". If you want it really Iron Maiden-esce, take "The Crusade". Examine the early videos "Don't Bite The Dust", "Shadowmaker", and "Rising", or their live versions.
In your case, I would say, make it a little calmer and try the so-called "E" songs "Epilogue", "Empty Daydream", or "Edge Of The World", or its cousins, e.g. "A Frozen Serenade" (with piano!), "Liar", "Lost In The Garden", etc.
Not being a born Metalhead, I can understand well your "too much". At first, the music was too fast and too chaotic for my brain to comprehend. But it was impressive! Coming from an intense examination of all Pink Floyd albums and searching for more, being notified about a LOVEBITES reactions of a Pink Floyd reactor, I was a little overwhelmed. But it was contagious.
I highly recommend "Epilogue", "Empty Daydream", "Edge Of The World" and "A Frozen Serenade" for you!

      - Second, same direction: Search for "miyako topic" on TH-cam, there's a playlist with 6 piano songs from Miyako, covering or better interpreting 5 well known Heavy Metal songs and "Addicted" from LOVEBITES on an EP, released in June 21st, 2023. The songs are:
      1. Battery (Metallica)
      2. Far Beyond The Sun (Yngwie Malmsteen)
      3. Eagle Fly Free (Helloween) - as OMV (extra music video of her piano performance)
      4. The Loner (Gary Moore)

It's a little bit misleading to think the song is about war or something. The song is actually more about death.... the swan song being a person's last living act. In legend a swan only sings once in its life.... just before dying. The members of the band are not always so subdued but they adjust their onstage presence to whatever song they're singing. The theme of this song is actually quite sombre and so a lot of grinning and jumping about would be inappropriate. I've now seen them live twice however and believe me they are not nearly so still and focused as you might think from watching this one performance.

@@oldmanjimh3165 I understand that. When I first discovered this band, I also didn't like Asami (the singer). But over time, I got used to her singing, and then grew to love it. But as I said earlier, the world would be boring if we all liked the same music.

@@oldmanjimh3165 The first time I heard Lovebites, back in Covid infancy, I didn't care for Asami's voice either. I skipped over them for some time, until I gave them a second chance with their song "Raise Some Hell". That hooked me and now I own all their original music and a couple DVD's. I now realize what a mistake it was to ignore a great band because I don't care for a voice. How many people can't stand to listen to James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, or Geddy Lee sing? What have those individuals missed?
