The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude."
In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude.
Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony.
Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake.
"SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES could complete.
As an aside, "Lost In The Garden," the eighth song on the album "Judgment Day," was inspired by Liszt's "La Campanella," and Miyako began training on this challenging song three months ago in order to perform it live.

In this, Chopin, as it is a basically a left hand exercise she ramped up the "lazy" right hand to give it a fuller sound .... Miyako is AMAZING!

Miyako is basically a classic pianist who also plays guitar. She started playing piano at her three and started self teaching guitar at her eighteen. She also plays bass, drum, and sings, and composes. She is a one woman band.

  • @ralphboyer2538
    @ralphboyer2538 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

Miyako started taking piano lessons at age 3, and intended to pursue a career as a classical pianist. Then at 18, she picked up a guitar and taught herself to play from books - she had no formal lessons at guitar. She has also taught herself to play some bass and drums. In addition, she composes and arranges the majority of Lovebites' songs. She continues to play piano and released a solo EP this year on which she arranged 6 metal songs into a classical style. She's giving a solo piano recital in Tokyo next month. She is just an amazing musician. Btw... I enjoy your LBs reactions. Take care!

The rest of the band gave her the nickname Little Big Engine. It's pretty obvious why..lol She can go. I never see her tired and winded. Never see her sweat. Just smiles and does her thing. I'm sure she gets tired. But she sure don't show it. Me after watching their full new concert video a few weeks ago. I felt like I needed a 12 hr sleep just listening to her.

@@MaddyReactions Indeed. 😊 Every lady of this band has her own impressive personal history. Getting to know their individual stories, definitely pays off a lot. Extremely impressive and inspiring. 🥲
That is one of the many reasons why I personally appreciate this band so much: When they spread their messages of encouragement, hope and appreciation of individual uniquenes and value ("Stay true to who you are!"), that is backed-up by their own personal experiences and convictions. They had to go through difficult times themselves, and personally know, that working your way through crises - and standing up for what you are convinced of - will pay off. 😊 🐺

That song pretty much speaks for itself.
Asami starting off learning ballet before switching to singing. Not a lot of demand for ballerinas that are 4'10", I guess, but I suspect it helps her vocal stamina. Not to mention her grace on stage.

You need to see them do Burden Of Time, Miyako plays guitar and the Keyboard at the same time. Their new bassist Fami also plays piano and guitar, she's a composer and very good singer to in her own right. Her YT channel actually has a larger following than Lovebites. The fact that Lovebites doesn't have a larger following on youtube is criminal.

*Miyako* (black hair guitar/piano/keyboards/keytar/bass/a 'little' drums/backing vocals/Composer/sound & recording engineer/guitar tech/Star Wars Nerd - she has a dog named Wampa) This song shows how Special Miyako is. She composed the song, her guitar Solo, and the Piano outro. Oh, and she opens with that Amazing performance of Chopin's Revolutionary Etude. MIYAKO 😍 She also has a new (first) EP out - *Etude op.23* where she has re-composed 6 classic Metal and Rock songs - as classical piano pieces. She just released a MV of her cover of Helloween's Classic Eagle Fly Free, which would be a great Reaction (or just a fun watch) th-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/w-d-xo.html 🤘🐺🐺🐺🤘

As someone mentioned Miyako started playing piano at age three. Later in high school she picked up guitar. While writing some of the songs she uses her classical knowledge. She compares metal to classical. If you closely listen you can pick it up in some of their songs.
As far as the corset, another reactor(professional opera singer) explained the advantages of using the corset in their singing to aid in their breathing. Not very comfortable but,it works. Also the way she uses her arms to reach the higher notes. Watch as she goes for certain notes how she is using her body as a tool.
You need to try Band Maid, the live version of the song “Freedom” (older song). Or “Shambles” their newest song.

I also find this rendition of the Revolutionary Etude perhaps a bit overly forceful...but I don't have a problem with that. After all, it's happening in the middle of a _metal_ concert! Miyako had to be more than a little fired up. Make no mistake: despite her often stoic appearance, she plays with plenty of passion...and you can't just turn off the adrenaline like a tap. So if she went a bit hard for that piece, I understand, and I don't mind a bit.

I was interested in your comments regarding Miyako's technique on the piano in the Chopin intro and your remark that she played it a little heavier and with more foot pedal than perhaps Chopin would have done. To be honest I don't think that Miyako would have played that piece like that under normal circumstances. She is more accustomed to playing classical piano pieces on a concert grand piano. That instrument, in spite of appearances, is not a concert grand but rather a Roland electric piano dressed up to look like a grand piano. Miyako wasn't entirely happy with the feel of it or its sound on this tour and I think the only reason they used it was because a proper grand piano would have been a logistical nightmare to move and re-tune for every show. In the tour the year after they did swap the electric piano out for a proper concert grand and it did have a far more organic, acoustic tone to it.
