What if the Nintendo switch online was actually good?
- Online Multiplayer not attached to the subscription service.
- The Smartphone app would *NOT* exist
- Could saves for every game. no johns. Also local backups as well
- Either virtual consoles or the retro game library from day one would have 20 games, 5 from each past console (NES,SNES, N64 and GCN).
- Also this retro service is mirgratable (Can be migrated to Nintendo's future online service for their next console)
- Better ways to message friends
- Party chat and lobbies
- Dedicated servers
Other stuff
- Friend codes eliminated
- TH-cam, Netflix and all other goodies on the system
and don't forget Native Voice Chat or Discord
Did not forget Smartphone app not existing should imply native voice chat in case you weren't aware.
I feel that the online multiplayer not being a part of the service and the dedicated servers are an either/or thing. You can either have the online multiplayer not be a part of the subscription service or you could have dedicated servers in many Nintendo games (Which is currently not the case).

Ahh, fanboyism in it's finest. You shouldn't even have to pay for a basic feature in the first place. Switch Online should be a PREMIUM service and not lock you out of online play. Wouldn't as bad if it wasn't for the fact that it is a mess right now. The voice chat sucks because you need a phone to use it (except for Fortnite on hand held mode, but Fortnite is pretty overrated anyways), cloud saves doesn't even work for some games, for Splatoon 2 it is basicly a requirement, and we are limited to NES games. There are multiple ways to actually fix the service, like making voice chat built in to the Switch itself, include SNES to Gamecube games, and fixing cloud saves. I get they need to make money but the service just isn't good at the moment.
Oh but I forgot, we are just crazy idiots.

The shitty nes and snes games you can just download on your phone for free. And also online is free on steam and smartphones. The “service” is about as anti-consumer a scam as one can get without breaking any laws.
Since the games are all peer-to-peer hosted, you’re literally paying Nintendo $20 to lower the toll booth arm on your games.
This is why I’ve hacked my Switch to allow save backups locally. I’ve also disabled the Switch’s Wi-Fi as well. As far as I’m concerned, the Switch is an offline console from this point forward and if I want to play online multiplayer games, I have better options on other platforms.

and whiling Sony give you 6 extra months after your subscription, Microsoft gives you Cloud Saves for free without the need of the subscription. And speaking of Cloud Saves
You forgot to mention once your nintendo online subscription expires, Nintendo would delete your data that's in your Cloud Save Data, and they only give you a extra week as opposed to 6 months.

Jigglypuff, or how about we just scrap the paid Online Service concept, and move the $20 yearly price to NESFLIX, but not just make it exclusive to NES games, but also add launch date, and fan favourite SNES, GB, N64, GBC, GC, GBA, and certain Wii games that could work, even those that used the Wiimote sensor, such as Mario Galaxy, but instead of using a Joycon to point at the screen, you could simply use the right joystick to aim, and the right trigger to fire Star Bits.

Dedicated servers for all available online games
All Classic games from the past are supported by using a special extension added to the switch in amiibo form or another device sold by Nintendo in order to fix the compatibility issue of the emulator hiccups issues and giving a fully functional gameplay with added online play to (specific) titles.
Cloud save will be available for multiplayer titles and classics
My own prices
19.99 for 3 months 29.99 for 6 months and 49.99 for a full year while 99.99 for entire family up to (12) and a added bonus of free games available each month from "NES titles".
RThis in my opinion would be something to wait for and makes a whole lot more sense.

Therein lies the crux of the problem: when you play games online with other players, you're NOT being hosted on a server. There is no multiplayer server on most games, e.g. Splatoon 2 and MK8. You're on a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection, which is facilitated through a series of protocols that Nintendo can enable or disable at will. This has been free on almost all non-MMO PC games since the dawn of gaming, only console manufacturers have gotten away with essentially scamming people into paying a subscription for P2P multiplayer connections. It's a ripoff at $70/year, and it's a ripoff at $20/year.

I disagree with the video because NSO is much less expensive than XBL Gold. I am well aware that we were able to do this for free before, and I wish it stayed that way, but even when I do have to pay, it’s only $20 a year. Also, while this is no substitute for proper voice chat, you are now able to voice chat with strangers in a first party games. I think you get what you paid for: 1/3 the quality for 1/3 the price, and I’m completely fine with that.

Nintendo Switch Online is such a sad thing. The Switch is the ultimate console for me, but now when I'm trying out the app, it's impossible for me to create online play-sessions with my friends since.... well, I can't message them through the service. My real friends don't really play video games, and my internet friends can't be contacted through the service. I launched Mario Kart 8, saw one of my Instagram friends playing Fortnite, but since he is not in Mario Kart, I can't send him an invite. That's crazy! I don't have his number, but we're connected through the Switch's friend's system, I can't send him messages or notifying him that I have started a game room in Mario Kart 8 and want to play together. Even if I payed 20$ It would be nearly impossible to play online with friends.
I'm a huge Nintendo fan... And I am level 140 in splatoon2. But I'm not paying for this.

Nico my friend you have just said all of my opinions about this and I 100% agree with dedicated servers because I'm go DAMN sick of my online experience getting ruined by lag and constant communication errors and now that the fact Nintendo is charging you playing online now its going to be a HUGE issue!!! Because you are paying for a laggy online service!
Seriously, the employees could have included an option for voice chat where you can interact in public, just with friends or not at all. That way, I even don't have to hear some horrible geese honking at me.
I never needed voice chat to enjoy online multiplayer anyway but an option like that is needed.

I think we have vastly different definitions of what counts as major titles. The vast majority of the games given out by PS+ are shovelware indie games and only on an occasional month do we get an actual good old indie or an actual AAA title. I get it, I can't seriously expect all those games given out to be all winners, but PS+ includes that as part of their service and to be honest, I would gladly sacrifice that without a heartbeat if it would get me a discount in paying for their service.
And you lose access to those games when your subscription expires so you're also renting those games they give away just like the NES games Nintendo offers.

Yes, the 100+ VC games I purchased on Wii and Wii U didn't carry over to Switch (which is a complaint I also have for PS4 with all the PS Classics and PSN titles I purchased on PS3 and the physical PS1 and PS2 games I have).
Yes, not having Cloud Saves for all games, cloud saves going away quickly, and not having physical save backups makes no sense and pisses me off (which is the driving reason as to why I'll eventually mod my Switch).
However, one major thing worth noting is, if you buy enough games, you can use the rewards you get for buying games to pay for online, which is what I did and what I'll do again when my online expires "IF" I feel like playing games online on Switch next year. TBH though, I may not be playing games online on Switch after I'm done with Crystal Chronicles.

I'm probably lucky with connection, but lag and disconnects are so rare they don't exist for me. When disconnects do happen it's normally in the lobby or at the end of the match where it matters least. Also, tons of people stopped playing online so of course getting others players will be slow

They had almost two years to work on it, and this is what they've come up with? Most of us literally gain nothing from this except the ability to play online; something we've been able to do since launch. If Nintendo thought we'd be satisfied with this, they're crazy.

Nintendo switch online services are terrible, it’s very rare for me to get no lag, and it’s not my WiFi. I was hoping the paid version would at least have dedicated servers to improve this but Nintendo wtf you are getting so lazy with all these ports and now this pile of crap.

Should be a lesson for people to stop being schizophrenic and buying something because its "new" as opposed to waiting at least 1 month to measure its impact.

I agree because I don't want to have to pay to play online mainly because one of if not my favorite game is Splatoon so that stinks for me luckily it's not too expensive but right now I'm still saving up for a switch so I'm not worrying about that right now.

6:30 I agree with you, but I know that some people won’t be interested in making a discord or Skype account just for voice chat. So, a voice chat app from Nintendo is a lot more convienient in that regard.
Let me just remind you, the Wii U’s F R E E online service had usb backups, virtual console, voice chat, no friend codes, and everything Miiverse brought to the table! Even then, my 12 year old DS does native voice chat! It’s almost like Nintendo is trying to make the Switch’s online suck!
I have the feeling this will get better. I hope they will release things that will work well with the switch, like DS and Gameboy Advance (plus Gamboy advance SP). And if some of these special offers include DLC, then maybe we'll get free things for game like Mario Tennis Aces, Super Mario Party, more Splatoon 2. I think this will go out great!
As long as Fortnite isn't effected by this virus (yes, I consider Nintendo Switch Online a virus to good games since they're then made unplayable for those who don't want to get a subscription), I'm all good. (Then again, most people don't like Fortnite)

Sure, I know I can afford it but the issue is I’m paying $20 for basically nothing. No dedicated servers for the online we had, No cloud saves for games like: splatoon 2, Pokémon let’s go, and Skyrim. NES games, emulators on your phone. Hell even the Wii could play snes and n64 games...

They made 5 Billion USD off the switch alone. 17.5 million units sold, 300 a console. Thats not even including GAMES. Just the switch. I'd get it if the switch flopped like the wiiu, but it didn't. 5 Billion dollars is ALOT OF MONEY. they are not a sinking company.

This online service is helping make more games faster with the money it’s getting in
I don't mind the pay online since it's only $20 year. My only 2 complain is voice chat still needs a phone app, and hate the NES 2 player online. Can't play with random people, but you need to add them on your friend list just to play with them.
