I mean, we had games in the past where we could play Zelda, sure all of them are pretty much non canon, but they exist, Wand of Gamelon, Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity
It's funny how the first game you thought of was a) on the CD-i and b) not the CD-i game where you play as Zelda with Zelda in the title and c) Wand of Gamelon was also my first thought. With Zelda's Adventure and Cadence of Hyrule I'm fairly certain we have all Zelda games where you can play as Zelda.
I didn't like the dead-eyed toy-like Link's Awakening aesthetic for the remake and I don't like it here, and Zelda's first starring role giving her the awesome magic power of... summoning furniture, just seems really weak and like they put a single game mechanic before story relevance. If it'd had a more Link Between Worlds or Wind Waker artstyle and Zelda had actual spells and tools instead of basically being a more mechanically constrained Top-Down version of Scribblenauts I'd totally be on board, but this just isn't doing it for me. Like, it should've been a sword-and-shieldless conventional Zelda where she has to do basically the same dungeon gauntlet as Link but focusing on logic, puzzle-solving and stealth over combat. This, though, almost feels like one of Miyamoto's weird flights of fancy.
The real wand of gamelon
Legend of Link.
Booring
@@ShadowSkyX Well sorry to say but it was the only one I could think of.

@@yhubtfufvcfyfc in fairness, I forgot which of the CD-I games it was, but one of them did have Zelda as the player
it should be called the legend of link

So when do we play as Epona
Not really if they used a different style then yes I just don't like the look of that game
