Wow.... That's so incredibly generous of you 😮. A year in, and everytime we're on this side of someones generosity I still don't know how to adequately respond. Believe it or not we're a month out from this incident and we still haven't fully decided on the next path. We're in the process of making decisions regarding the future of this rig, vs another rig etc. So we'll set this aside as we work through those decisions and either put it toward our floors or toward the savings for a future rig if that's the direction we go. Thank you so much again for your generosity. -J

This one wasn't as hard for me to watch as fixing the truck in North Dakota. I could really see myself "breaking down" (for lack of a better word) in that one. This time around I felt like we both were able to process, assess, and move on pretty quickly all things considered. Kalyn was just so shot from a day of filming (it really wears her out since she bears pretty much all of the creative burden on filming days) so I was super proud of her when she was able to move forward so quickly. I just wish I had been a tiny bit more patient. "We've gotta get on this" probably wasn't what she needed from me most in that moment. 😂 -J

We were so happy to get a sunset... allbiet a muted one when it came to colors. We had a very quick "Are we filming this or just telling people after the fact" exchange all while still processing the emotions but since we do our best to show real life, even when it's our own mistakes that got us there, and we were already filming we decided to just keep the video rolling. It's always different to process with a camera present, but it was the real us. I have to say...I think more people should run a camera during something like this if for no other reason than to listen to themselves. I thought my tone was a lot more patient until I listened back to it. I was like "Whoah... could have slowed down just a little to let Kalyn process there a little more, Joseph. sheesh" 😂

I'm so sorry this happened to you! You are not alone, others have learned the hard way of forgetting to turn off the water pump. In fact. I think I remember Phil and Stacy from Today is Someday had their shower turn in while driving. We haven't had the water pump issue, but we used to store a taller storage tower in our shower when traveling. When we hooked up to city water at the campground we found out that the bumpy roads had made the tower jump up and broke the cold water shower knob. Water was spraying out of it, but luckily our shower doors were closed and no damage was done. Now in addition to lessons learned from others about turning off the water pump, we also don't travel with large/tall items in the shower and make sure that someone is inside checking all the water faucets when we hook up the city water.

Little did we know that the roads had broken a drain valve on our freshwater tank that was located under the sofa. We get back to the rv a week later and all 40 gallons of water is now in the living room! Made for eventful weekend. Glad to see you guys made the best of it. I have been on the road this past week on my way out to Arizona for the winter. I had a very similar thing happen although my pump was turned off. I left my Insta pot on the counter. It slid over to the faucet turned on the handle, and there was enough water left in the pipes to completely drowned the plant that I left sitting down in the sink, lol it’s always something with these RVs. Loved the video. Glad that you visited the petrified forest. I was there many years ago. Kudos to finding the tree that you were looking for.❤

I had a similar experience here on the boat. After a rough day in the ocean, I pulled into a marina and had a puddle of water on the cabin floor. Somehow, the faucet spun itself around from over the sink and the valve opened. Fortunately, the water pump was off and it was just what the expansion tank had in it. It baffled me for days how that could have happened. Finally chalked it up to engine vibration, rough seas and dumb luck.

My travel trailer got flooded when a guest didn't make sure the toilet bowl to the tank was completely shut. I never put paper down my toilet, but the guest did, and it prevented the valve from closing all the way, thus water continued to run, overflowing the bowl. It had been going for a few hours. The water was hooked up to a hose, not the fresh water tank, so there was a lot of water. I tore up the carpet. Found vinyl flooring underneath, thank God.

Saved by vinyl but not saved from a huuuuge mess. 👀 -J
