Whether you believe or not, matters not. His comment about who we are as a society is spot on. At 63, I look around and don’t see a world I recognize. Sad really….
That's something every generation experiences. Times change, people change, things change, you remain the same though and you can't cope with all the chance. It has nothing to do with this internet hoax.
I can't put a price on the genuine joy that your videos bring me and my family. Thank you! I hope there are enough good comments too keep you happy doing this.
Thanks so much, Lance. Yes, there are lots of good comments. Lots of awful ones too, but I try and focus on the positive (which is honestly very hard to do). I appreciate the support.

Titor's prediction that mainstream news and media would be a thing of the past and individuals would produce the replacement content on the internet was mind-blowing at the time. While he did not mention any particular platform (like youtube), he certainly nailed it right on this point. And I recall back in the early 2000s how ridiculous it sounded that the big three (ABC, NBC, CBS) would be replaced by individual content over the internet. In fact, they are now referred to ABC, NBC and CBS as the "legacy media". That was unthinkable in 2001.
He didn’t predict anything it was seen as he went; the things he’s said is what a lot of people have said and no one listened not bc they traveled through time but bc history is everlasting and ever changing and some things you see before they happen bc of the signs of thing around you🤷🏽♂️
This is only half true, as 1. A lot of individual content is processed from the big networks, e.g. people responding to the news. 2. Individual content was being created in the nineties, e.g. by '97 I maintained a USENET FAQ and had a personal website. Telling people who dislike the government and big corps that individual content that was already being created for several years is going to take over is rather obvious. A sad trend over the last 30 years is that content has become more centralized. In the nineties, UseNet groups were distributed, e.g. UseNet and mailing lists. Then it became fashionable to host forums on websites, some of which WP on individual's website. Nowadays most forums are on social sites. This means the government has an easy time finding out who posted what, and have it removed - the big corps will not fight for individuals who use the platform for free.
There's literally a whole song about how tv killed the radio star. This is not even a difficult to conceptualize prediction. I'm curious how old you are. It was very clear to me that after y2k didn't do anything everyone was going to get online. If nothing else, for the available reference material. They saw it coming too because we got so many more daytime talk shows than we had before. It was oprah, dr Phil or Kerri Lake. Now there's over 50 hosts for a variety of daytime "news." Maury and his ilk don't count. I mean the ppl who talk about current events and cluck cluck cluck all morning.
I was just finishing up the last couple of videos on the channel I hadn’t yet watched, and I would just like to state for the record that it doesn’t matter to me if the subject is something I’ve already looked into or something new that I haven’t even heard of before, the way you present the topic is always intriguing, along with encouraging your viewers to never sell themselves short is something I find priceless. I hope you and your family have a great rest of the week, and we all look forward to the next video!
Agreed. Some of the stories I didn't know. Others I kind of knew. Others I didn't know at all. I usually learn some new element even on the stories I thought I knew well. AJ's strength is telling the story and letting the viewers make up their own minds. Most channels on these topics are either complete believers or complete debunkers. They come at you with an agenda and you're sure they're leaving key pieces of information out to support their agenda. That's not the WF or AJ. At the end, you feel in some way enlightened.
Agreed. The way it's presented and easily understood gives even topics you might have known or heard of seem new and fresh. He could make talking about staring at wall seem interesting and with hecklefish by his side, I want to learn all about it.
I suggested this one and dreams really do come true!!! Great Job AJ and Hecklefish - I am always down for a good time travel story!!! There is a great video game and anime series called "Stein's Gate" which draw heavily on the John Titor lore.
I haven't seen Steins;Gate but I've heard it's really good. Joseph Matheny even endorses it. I like time travel stories, too. I would do even more of them if I could. Thanks so much for the tip, Mark.
I began to get on the internet in the early 2000s and caught the tail end of the John Titor story then. I have watched and listened to many people retell it over the years. You did the best job in the smallest amount of time explaining it all that I’ve seen. Bravo and thank you. This will be what I now send to people that have never heard of this story.
Do I personally subscribe to the John Titor story? No. Do I still believe that there is something of value gained by encouraging people to have a strong sense of self-preservation and self-sufficiency? Hell yeah.
AJ, you have the right Idea about being prepared. Nothing wrong with having something Incase of an emergency or bug out situation. Living far out of the city is a better bet, as like in the story you put out. Most will die in the cities. Be safe and really enjoy your channel.
Effn EPIC EPIC EPIC episode AJ! As always. And I think I speak for us all when I say that the new 30 minute + format is friggin awesome! The more we get of you and Heckle, the happier we are! Keep it my friend. 612K! The HeckleFish Army is unstoppable!
Coast to Coast AM! I remember listening to that show on the radio. I had moved from Quebec to Vancouver and all my stuff including furniture, bed etc took 3 weeks to coming in a moving truck. I was sleeping on the carpet in the living room listening to that at night LOL.
Software engineer here. It’s not a huge worry about the 32bit time stamps. Some systems will move to 64 bit without a lot of disruption and some will swap their integer timestamps to save dates as date time objects. Y2K was a genuine problem, but people worked to fix it. The same will happen when it’s time for the 32 bit unix time stamp to max out.
You’re exactly right. I actually wrote and sold software that fixed the Y2K problem on x86 PCs. Didn’t expand the use case because we did the same math and realized the bigger problem was 2038. Figured most of our tech infrastructure would be moved off the 2 byte integer by then.
Yes this was one of the weakest parts of the story IMO. This just sounds like job security for unix devs... which is great. Also, no AI in 2038? Like how'd that slip by this guy's timeline? Missing out on a lot of physics discoveries without that tool... That and him going back to find an ancient machine to help debug code in 2038. Cool story bro....
@@ImprovisedExpletiveDevice Wouldn't a global nuclear war set things back a bit? I wouldn't be surprised if they are using some old tech in that instance. The loss of at least several decades of scientific discoveries wouldn't be out of the question due to the catastrophic loss of power, infrastructure and people in such an environment!
Yes that's true it would. If that does happen, I don't think anyone is doing time travel anytime soon after. The devastation an event like that would unleash would probably be the end of the human era all together. Not even boomer ranting time travelers would be spared...@@TakingTheRedPill69
I used to listen to the late Art Bell years ago on Coast2Coast radio and I remember the John Titor story. As I recall he went to visit the younger version of himself and his younger parents. I don't recall how that turned out. I also remember the lawyer as a phone guest and the legal problems. I'm glad you covered this subject. It brings a smile to my old face. Thank you!
Well even if he did visit his self or his younger parents they wouldn't be his actual parents or his actual self but a copy of them from another divergence or a split time line another reality .according to himself at least.
I found this back in 2002 and it blew my mind. I’m a writer now and have huge, huge respect for whoever created that story - I believe it’s a hoax, but a brilliant one.
really? the narrative about a man who can't imagine being separated from his parents but is willing to use a machine that will make him never see them and his whole world again is impressive to you? you call that brilliant? are you a moron?
This is the only storytelling channel that has held my interest beyond a couple of weeks. Best format and presentation in the genre. Keep up the good work.
Love the TARDIS in hecklfish's bowl on the time travel episodes. Little touches like that really highlight the amount of effort that goes into these. As if the subject matter wasn't interesting enough, this guy just goes hard. Like Phil Collins writing the Tarzan soundtrack.
Hecklefish coming in hot with the lawyer jokes! 😂 Newer viewer here just going through the compendium of episodes. Got turned onto the channels from a friend. I find a lot of entertainment in the overwhelming amount of conspiracies. Don't know how this channel stayed elusive to me for so long, but very happy I'm here now. Having a blast binging all the episodes old and new. Keep up the good work! 👍

Wouldn't it be wonderful to live in a world that was greener, without war, and without hate. If we could all just have love in our hearts for each other, ourselves, and all living creatures on Earth.

Love, Joy, Happiness, and only the Best of everything and everyone! 💞💞💞
As one of those people that was on the message board asking questions of John back in 2000, I appreciate your insight into this mystery. I was skeptical but his scientific and tech explanations were way over my head. The best I can say was that it was at least entertaining and thought provoking.
Because he was found to be a computer programmer with an education in data science…who lives in our timeline, at this very period in time-almost as if he was born here or something.
I wasn't in the message boards sites back then, but I was listening to him on Coast to Coast, Art Bell's show while driving a 18 wheeler across the country. To be honest he really sounded convincing to me. I heard later it was a hoax.
After binge watching all of the episodes a month ago, I now find myself waiting for the next one! What a great job you have done sir! Wishing you continued success
I was working as a computer programmer during the y2k computer event. This was a very serious problem contrary to the way you so nonchalantly mention it. During the year leading up to the year 2000 there was not a single software guy that was unemployed the problem was real. The only reason things did not collapse was the efforts of the computer industry to fix the problem.
@@cameronandrew1853 Most computerized systems would have gone down. A lot of it ran/runs on really outdated bespoke software. Things like recordkeeping and any computer automated system for tracking and controlling things like shipping, trucking, railroad, telecommunications, etc could/would have gone down. It was an extremely serious problem but one that was noticed in advance and dealt with in a timely manner.
If you watch the video he did on Y2K you'll find that he says exactly that. He knows, and is trying to educate people on the vast amount of work that was done to deal with a very real problem.
AJ has produced quite a few shows on TV but I'm so glad he has this channel And I'm willing to bet he becomes the #1 channel for this Niche on TH-cam before long. His watch time is probably higher then Mr Beast. Wish I had a job editing for this channel.

Love the show sir! Thank you!
Yep. It sux losing parents. I was listening to Radio Classics on SiriusXM and one of the commercials, WW2 era, mentioned something about ration stamps…I had a question, reached for my phone…ugh. Those experiences are beyond dreadful.
check Robert Monroe's books starting with," Journeys out of the body." The only thing you need is to learn is, body relaxation to, loss of body sensations, sleep paralysis and to vibration stage and learn to conscious out of body experience. While in out of body state, you go to higher dimensions and your father is in higher dimensions.
The way John described his “time machine” sounds more like a Multi Dimensional Machine. It doesn’t really travel through time but to different universes.
@@kingarmish maybe, however he said there was only a 1 or 2 percent difference in the 2 “world lines”. I have a hard time believe a 1 or 2 percent difference would change something like that
If I had seen this 10 years ago, I’d never believe it. I’d be like- “another civil war?” Yeah right… today, I absolutely believe not only can it happen- I believe it WILL happen
Don't get me wrong I believe it should happen but right now with the tensions between the US, China and North Korea it's a bad idea, if we go to war with ourselves we are a prime target for invasion. It would have to be a silent and swift coupé.
Nah, very very very unlikely. Way too many useless obese people and noodle-armed snowflakes. Also, the Democrats would obviously get blown out in about .2 seconds because of the massive difference in gun/ammo ownership and firearms training. Also, there’s no reason to have one. We have federalism, so as long as the feds don’t try to cram down one ideology too much on everyone, we’ll be fine. California, New York, and Chicago can remain shitholes, and Florida and Texas can remain bastions of freedom in an unfree world. I think Supreme Court decisions like the abolition of Roe v. Wade will be crucial to increasing the power of federalism. As long as Republicans don’t try to force their opinions on major issues on Democrats, and vice versa, then everyone can just move to different states based on policy preferences. The division may only increase, and we already certainly have a cold civil war of sorts, but there will never be a hot civil war. Modern citizens are too fat and too snowflakey to fight a war, obviously.
yeah well, when you rig elections, throw people in jail for their political beliefs, take away peoples freedom of speech - you are leaving people with little option
Civil war... we are Twitter divided but nothing more. There has to be more at stake than opinions and hurt feelings for people en mass to pick up arms against one another.
The anime Steins;gate did this story with its own spin verywell. It covered john titor, cern, world lines, and even included the ibm computer. They even icorporated that old story/myth of the man that appeared out of no where in new york in the 1800s, but was wearing 1900s attire. Dont trust cern is what is shown in the anime. But its just a story. I recommend anybody who is interested in the john titor time travel theory to check it out. It is very well made. Even covers a other john titor whos time machine malfunctioned causing her to lose her memory of the mission she was originally sent for.
The visual novel that the anime is based on is even better... you should just play all the Science Adventure games if you like stories like this and enjoy/don't mind anime though
@@eegernades The anime is really good too, but the story just fits the format well and gives a different perspective and shows the full picture of what he experiences during all his time leaps (as well as just how dangerous it really is and the full lengths he goes)

Now me and my 5 year old son binge watch it every night before bed, he's obsessed with it as i was so long ago....good times! Rest In Power Robert Stack!
The reason Y2K was a nonevent was that a lot of people worked very hard to make sure it was a nonevent. Even then there were problems, such as a nuclear power plant scram, a bunch of people’s credit cards being charged massive amounts of interest, and an entire English medical district being told their infants had Down’s syndrome. You just never heard about it because the world didn’t fall apart.
Both my parents spent a lot of overtime hours future-proofing the computers in the social departments they worked in against Y2K. It bothers me greatly that people will use the proof that listening to warnings and taking action to mitigate damage works as proof that you shouldn't listen to warnings or take action because people make a big deal out of non-issues. Humanity's capable of a lot of good if it works together - we eliminated small pox, we prevented Y2K - but millions of people today stick their heads in the sand and insist all warnings by experts are false and misleading because of 'money' - while they get their own news and opinions from radio and web shows that have a vested interest in keeping their attention and seeking access to their wallets.
Same, I worked for IBM in the late 1900s and spent almost all of 1998 and 1999 testing for Y2K vulnerabilities at customer sites so they could fix them beforehand.
That's because the media painted an end of the world scenario about Y2K. Then when it didn't happen, no one reported on the work done to stop it. In the end, all people saw was a big fuss made and nothing coming of it. Couple that with how people also remember all the scams from that time, like the "Y2K compliant" jumper cables.
There was no way that any of those governments were going to spend that kind of money to build something that did not change the world significantly. Remember no matter what happens, human beings are still money hungry. It is the main reason why we don't advance and why we keep doing the same things. That's why a lot of the bad things are going to continue to happen to us.
Dude I am a very tuff nut to crack, but I love you. That really means something. You are very well spoken and you keep me from losing faith in humanity because there is one that tells the truth and does not keep throwing click bait at us. Scare them for the money! I am skeptical as to the story but I've always found it entertaining and thought provoking while having some good advice sprinkled throughout. I definitely agree that people are far too self-centered in this world.
I'd be much more a believer, but there is a picture of his time machine with a laser pointer's beam abruptly bending around the corner of the machine because of its claimed gravitational field. If something on earth had gravity like that we would know because the earth would be orbiting around it.

John Titor, whomever he was, created one of the most enduring real life plots in history. Not as inspiring as Atlantis but equal to legends like Oak Island.

The last few decades I ran into this story couple of times. It surely travels through the ages. It reminds me of Jerome Bixby's "The Man from Earth", which is also a nice thought experiment about a man claiming to be immortal and born in the Mesolithic time.
@@prince-solomon I never understood why anyone thought a sequel was a good idea. It was very unnecessary and took the story from fascinating and thought provoking to cheesy and ridiculous. There are a lot of time travel stories where the hero travels back in time to prevent a terrible future. There's only one problem. As soon as you arrive in the past, you create and inhabit an alternate timeline. The original timeline still exists, but you vanished from it when you traveled to the past. The alternate timeline creation prevents paradoxes at the cost of being powerless to change the original timeline. Indeed, you can never inhabit the original timeline again. The terrible future never goes away.
Time travel is just a theory though, and what you’ve just explained is also just your theory. There are a lot of holes and someone could have a totally different idea of how events would change
he explained it wit the whole cone n deference thing, at least that was my understanding of it n somewhere else he referenced the change but that was for 1000+ years
I'm pretty sure that's just the movie back to the future part 2. Time Travel happens based on the idea that reality loops back on itself. You can only travel forward, so you go so far into the future at such a fast rate (infinite) that you actually end up back in the past, To better explain it, imagine trying to walk to the edge of the earth, eventually you would come back because there is no edge or end it's a sphere, our timeline is a circle.
Absolutely but that is what was unique here. His primary mission was never to interfere. He chose to interfere after being here for so long. He never cared if someone believed him just that he could draw attention to people to be aware of their surroundings.
So if we knew there is a coming cataclysm could we create a large enough envelope to shift all of humanity or even our entire reality to another time line?
Can’t compliment you enough AJ on your content you do and how you approach it. Your delivery is always unbiased and your tone is captivating to get the viewer interested even if the topic might not appease them. Actually, I did a lot of research on the Aptera solar-electric car and it looks like it would be the best known vehicle for the purpose of time travel. Of course it is quite likely that the aptera car dose not exist in the time line that John Titor is from.

The food warnings are real now but people like their bacon fed bacon and chicken fed chicken and yummy pesticides so I don't think that will change until it's too late. It's the easiest path to immediately change but, sigh, I'm not hopeful. For decades I made a living in high tech fields and now I can't tolerate the resulting societal chaos. Yikes.
@pianomusic, I’m with you! Speaking also as a mom & grandma whose kids & grandkids live thousands of miles away-the “mom” comment made my heart melt; I want to live in a timeline like that one. (Btw, if there are any time travelers on this thread who are planning on a return to such a timeline-PLEASE take me with you!!!😃😆)
My kids are still living with me. Granted, neither are even old enough to drive. I guess it's because I'm a dad of daughters...but I don't want them to move out. I'd like for them to build on to this house. I have this weird fantasy of this house eventually being built into a "Mansion" by my kids/grandkids/etc. But for now... I'm waiting to see if I can even stand being around them by the time they hit 18. Lmmfao
I used to work with an IBM language - Informix 4GL which was based on UNIX servers. So I just presumed IBM machines could run a variety of languages. Maybe the older ones were less flexible?

Thanks for covering this one. As a person in the present looking back on when this story broke then, it's hard to describe the intrigue, excitement, and awe from reading John Titor's posts for the first time. Whether or not anything that was written by John was true wasn't as relevant as being engaging. You felt like you were part of the process even if you were just an observer. I always pictured John Titor as a retired physics professor with local militia dreams. Although one by one predictions were debunked and physicists dismissed John's technical claims, it was still an enjoyable ride.
The closest real story of time travel I've ever heard is that of Philip Kramer (last bassist of Iron Butterfly) who announced that he and his team of physicists solved time travel. Days after his announcement he vanished while in rushour traffic on the phone with 911 claiming suicide. His car wasn't found until a year later at the bottom of a cliff on the Hwy.
@@jenniferhouse1939 They didn't find his body until over a year later. He was found in his car at the bottom of a cliff off the interstate. Presumedly he drove off a cliff during rush hour while on the phone with 911 and nobody saw it? Don't tell Hecklefish
We have all travelled through time and that explains the Mandela Effect. Now we know why things change ever so slightly occassionally. It also explains why time seems to speed up and slow down. We are travelling through the cosmos at hundreds of thousands of miles every hour so we could experience gravitational and electrical shifts and never even realize it which would affect time. All I know is the universe is far more magical than we will understand for many centuries, perhaps millenia, and I believe shifts in time happen and that we exist among an infinite amount of different timelines. Also, the brain is a lot like the universe, isn't it?

When you said that the second civil war started in 2004, you unlocked an old memory of me learning about the second civil war in school. And then later on around 3 years after that i told that there never was a second civil war in the early 2000s. Maybe it was my wild imagination in elementary school or something. But I swear for 3 years straight I really believed that there was a a second civil war that started before I was born.
@@billmthacker I guess that would explain it but, doesn't it only apply when a large group of people recall the same memory/event. Or can it also apply to individuals too?

I've lived in places with high risk of natural disasters, so it's a habit now to keep a bag packed at all times. Three months ago, I had to go into hospital suddenly and stayed there for weeks. Fortunately I could just grab my bag and go. I think everyone should be ready, and have a plan for what they will do if faced with a natural or human disaster. What will you pack? Where will you go? How will you meet up with your family if you get separated? Where will you shelter? How will you communicate? Rather make plans and never need them than to be caught out when fire, flood or a mob is at your door.
Can't help but love Hecklefish's lawyer jokes! The closer one looks the more people are following your advice on being prepared. And that's a good thing.
I don't usually comment on videos. But man. You truly are a good story teller. And your content is the best on here. I get lost in your videos for hours and hours. Learning and laughing at the same time. I think you should have your own tv series. I applaud you and your time given to share these stories with an unbiased opinion. Do you have a link I can donate to show my appreciation? Again thanks for your hard work and I look forward to seeing more. Side note. You should consider a video on the Halifax explosion. It's a true story with some embellished properties. From my home city Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. Or perhaps a video on oak Island. I would love to see your point and research based opinion on these 2 topics. Cheers!

Can't believe I've not heard of this one but I cant wait 👍🇬🇧
Yep.. Had me wondering and on some level actually HOPEFUL that he was.
Remember the rumor that Trump was John Titor? 😆
He didn’t predict anything it was seen as he went; the things he’s said is what a lot of people have said and no one listened not bc they traveled through time but bc history is everlasting and ever changing and some things you see before they happen bc of the signs of thing around you🤷🏽♂️
@thapl4yb0yd8nakarlx6 only you know the truth.
This is only half true, as

Another great video AJ
I appreciate that the narrator takes your being intelligent as a given, much as British humor assumes your intelligent enough to process such humor.
Agreed. The way it's presented and easily understood gives even topics you might have known or heard of seem new and fresh. He could make talking about staring at wall seem interesting and with hecklefish by his side, I want to learn all about it.

AJ - your shows fill a void that was created when Art Bell left the air and then passed. It was a double delight to hear Art's voice on your show.
Hell yeah.
Self-preservation and self-sufficiency? The dude had to use a Time Machine to travel back to get an old computer.
Whenever people ask themselves questions, I can hardly take the suspense, wondering whether they know the answer.
That was my takeaway too, doesn't matter if he was an actual time traveler or not, his advice at the end is good.

Yeah we don't need this dude to tell us that lol

It was also a very easy fix.
