    Take a glimpse in to the Babu workshop as we make a handmade leather watch strap from start to finish with the traditional hand skills and tools of the saddler and sellier.
    The work is deceptively simple yet incredibly precise, the materials beautiful yet durable, timeless yet ever changing.
    The techniques we use are time consuming and take years or decades to master, our products are a labour of love. In an age where luxury is often defined only by a logo and price tag an Babu strap is different, handmade, hand stitched quality, made to last, made with passion and craftsmanship, not with a machine.

    Great work, is it edge kote that you are using on the edges of the strap ? I tried fiebing leather dye but the leather just drank it and it looks really bad....

      Hi, We use paint for the edges. It is very helpful, you can search "leather edge paint" on Google

      You should choose Zermatt leather for the lining, it's soft and sweat-proof. :D

    Beautiful work! I am a huge fan of leather watch straps, would like to have an ostrich once... (Now I am having an aligator). You are also having a beautiful piece on your wrist - is it also your own work? And is it a genuine alligator, too? Nice to watch your work!

    • @babuhandmade
      @babuhandmade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! All of our products are made from genuine leather (real leather), alligator leather goods are made of 100% real alligator skin (genuine alligator leather), not PU, not embossed.
      And the strap on my wrist is also made by me :).
      You can see more alligator watch straps we have at this link:
      babuhandmadeleather.com/product-category/collection/handmade-leather-watch-bands/alligator-bands/
      Thank you and have a great day!

      @@babuhandmade WOW! You have really an amazing job! And it’s nice to watch your wrist during your work :)! I dont like imitations, too - the feeling of genuine (or even exotic) animal skin is completely different... And leather watch strap is what we are touching most of the daytime... Thus I really appreciate your working with exotic leather. Beautiful products, you must be very skillfull. Btw have you ever encountered some controversy with animal lovers? In my opinion, we humans have right to use animals and it doesnt matter whether a calf, or an alligator had to die for my watch. Both means to kill an animal’ life, so, I hope they had good lives but both are well used if serving to a man to his satisfaction:). So, I am proud of wearing a real alligator, but I know some people are hypersensitive about animals and oppose to wearing exotic leather, fur etc. At least here in Europe. Is it better in Vietnam? Thanks, have a great time!

      @@lukasbejcek8841 It's hard to say about that, because it is related to the culture of each country and the perceptions of each person.
      We always try to bring the best value for our customer - fans of leather goods. Hope we will be able to make watch straps for you in the future :)

      @@babuhandmade Yes it is hard to describe. However, a lot of west people would cry: "What, a beautiful ostrich killed for watch straps?!" But we slaughter bilions pigs and cows and people never mind it that because everybody likes the meat. It is hypocrisy. And they wonder how Asian people can eat dogs and cats. My opinion is, animals are a natural resource we use legitimately, doesn’t matter whether it is a cow, alligator, cat or an ostrich. The vast majority of animals is still abundant enough not to be exterminated in the near future. That is why I appreciate you work with the broad spectrum of genuine first-rate materials and you dont succumb to the "animal right" fads, which we have here in the West. You wrote it nice about your customer. You are here for your customer not for animal activists! You make GORGEOUS products for super prices, man! Keep on! I will think about you sure when I will be looking for my new watch strap! Maybe the ostrich, the black goat (it’s new for me, looks fantastic)... Do you think about shark leather? It is one of my favourite ones and you don’t have it... That is the only mistake :)! Have a great time! I hope you will always love your job!

    Hi
    I have some Questions
    What a leather do you use?
    what is the name of your glue?

    • @babuhandmade
      @babuhandmade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      We use Ostrich leg leather for the upper side and Zermatt leather for the underside of the strap
      The glue is P-66, we buy the glue in Vietnam, we are not sure what is its name in your country.
