I loved using the Phantom Blade in Unity. A headshot can kill in one hit, and a berserk dart can thin the crowd or even totally destroy it if you tag a brute with it. It's an amazing utility.
@nonope4307 Ya, it's annoying when that happens. I'm playing Odyssey now, and I hate having to wait to tell whether I need to use critical assasinate or not, especially when they move out of range. I have enjoyed Odyssey, but I miss old AC. Also, I don't like the animations in Odyssey. They're either over the top (the one where you flip the target over) or too little to do anything (stabbing in the side). Also, I so miss double assasinate. Yeah, there's the chain thing, but that uses adrenaline, and I just want a normal assasinate that kills two close targets
Connor's pivot blades were just *chef's kiss*. If I could play an Assassin's Creed game where I could depend on the hidden blades for both assassinations and open combat, I'd be in heaven. Extra swords, firearms, weapons etc. just don't seem discreet to me. Gimme a cloak and two hidden blades, and now we're cooking.
Ya, the point of it isn't necessarily for non-lethal takedown, but to electrocute someone to death so they don't survive, since modern medicine can keep someone alive when stabbed. It could be non-lethal if you use less power most likely, but that wasn't what Shaun did
I agree with all your top picks. Each one is the most useful for a core aspect of the game: 1) The hook blade for traversal and parkour. 2) The pivot blade for melée combat. 3) The phantom blade for ranged stealth. Imagine how broken a combination of all 3 would be. Or, more realistically, the hook blade and phantom blade/crossbow under your dominant hand, and the pivot blade under the off-hand.
Darius' hidden blade made a lot of sense to me. During his time period, most warriors protected their arms with bracers where most of the armor was on the top. The blade and the mechanism would easily be hidden with extra metal plating or leather padding and wouldn't look too out of place.
There’s an AC fanfic called Assassins Creed Outlaw that has a variant of the blade called the Spur Blade, a boot mounted Hidden Blade that was meant to fit the Wild West setting of the story.
If I had to combine them, I’d take Connor’s pivot blades for open combat, Arno’s phantom blade for long range stealth kills, and the Frye twins’ grappling hook (or as I call it, the grapple blade) for quick get aways if I’m over whelmed
I didn’t realise there were so many different hidden blades I mean I knew about the phantom blade, trident blade, and of course hidden blade but none of the others I think they need to show some new types of hidden blades in the new games maybe basim can equip different hidden blades

I was talking to my friend about hidden blades and we actually came up with probably the best hidden blade combination that an assassin could have. A pivot blade on one hand and a hook blade on the other, with the phantom blade attachment on one of them or both.
You can use the hidden gun when you play as Darcy Clarkson a member of the British Brotherhood of Assassins, as were her ancestors, the legendary Jacob and Evie Frye
It was actually gonna be implemented in the game but was scrapped because of the "pirate hook hand" stereotype. Would've been nice to see it. Edward would've rocked it.
Ah, Finally someone said it. When The Hidden One said that the hidden blade from AC4 was only for stealth I was like "Did they (I won't assume their gender because I don't know) not played the same game as me or what ?" (Also sorry if I made some mistakes, english isn't my first language)
Nah a non lethal hidden blade like the shock one is something I'd love to use in an AC game. Since yes you play as an Assassin but killing every guard in sight is not the best idea in reality
well, i must say; for the actual era, i would recomend the hidden blade of the Frye twins, it is more confortable to climb buildings P.D. i love your new intro
I loved the Poison Darts used by Ezio in AC:Brotherhood. Poison was great, but from a distance its even better, moreover this was not Altair's Design, infact, it was Da Vinci's own upgrade to the poison blade. My favourite strategy was with groups of 2, where I would poison one of them and crossbow the other!
What about jacob Frye's hidden blade cane? Its a two bladed weapon, one flips out the bottom into a mini scythe like blade and the handle pulls out into a short hidden blade as well, allowing for combat and stealth
A couple of the blade upgrade visuals for the hidden blade in origins (if you forgot, each time you upgrade a peice of gear it changes look) is a two pronge hidden blade. Plus other ones like a serpentine blade.
The Trident blade i believe also appears in the assassin's creed complete history book, which also has other cool blades too, one of my favourites was a futuristic one, its a blade that can spilt down the middle of the blade itself and become a stungun and tazer, edit its the shock blade lol
I don't remember which game launch it specifically coincided with, but there was a real life plastic replica hidden blade that you could purchase from GameStop (and maybe other retailers?).
I know the one you’re talking about. I got mine when I picked up AC3 from GameStop but I’m almost certain it was based on the brotherhood blade. It was so damn cool, wish I still had it.
The trident hidden blade is likely based off the Indian weapon the Katar. It was a “push dagger” (basically a dagger where the blade is in front of your knuckles and you can punch with it) that had a mechanism where squeezing the 2 handles would cause the outer blade to part into 2 with a center blade. There’s debate as to how it was used with some saying that it was stabbed in then activated to open a wound further, but it was most likely that the 3 prongs were used to parry an opponent. This also seems to be how the trident hidden blade was used.
In one of the books an assassin has a ceramic hidden blade that they wear to get past metal detectors, thought that worth a mention for anyone who hasn’t read the books
Actually bayek has multiple versions of the blade, I didnt particulary liked that upgrading was necessary but the different versions of the blade were cool. And he also has the two pronged blade as well as the trident i think
hard to come up with a good reason to have the trident blade. I also thought about the parrying options but if a blade clash between the blades have they already hit your hand and it will be a bloody mess.
The foot blade actually makes more sense than the standard wrist-mounted version. Carrying a normal knife would work fine for most applications, having one strapped to your wrist could present problems in use and it looks pretty suspicious if you're wearing anything else than long, wide sleeves. Shoes have a lot of unused space in the soles to hide stuff in and legs have a lot more power to deliver.
A really cool hidden blade would be a combination of the rope dart and the blade. Imagine the hidden blade being able to be long ranged and shot out like a rope dart then reeled back into the bracer without wasting ammo.
I like bayeks because with each upgrade his blades look different, its just a shame we cant cycle through the looks when you get them all. Because there are some designs that I like more then others.
Ya, the first time I saw it was before I had played AC and I thought it was boring. Saw it a second time while playing the Ezio trilogy and still didn't like it. But after playing most of the ACs, I watched it recently and now it's one of my favorite movies
Not sure if it’s a glitch or not but interesting thing, during one of the missions with both Connor and Haytham in AC3 during a cutscene where Haytham kills a red coat it looks like he has a hook blade. Could be a glitch, could be something else, just how it looks to me.
I just came from the History of the hidden blade video you made, and im surprised you never mentioned the switch hidden blade the prowler used in AC Brotherhood Multiplayer. Where would you rank it?
I think Haytham’s is the best, not because it pivots, but because of its length , and it’s placement. Unlike the other hidden blades, it is place at the bottom of the hand, making it much easier to use.
The removal of the ring finger was a sign of commitment of the assassin, or as bayek would call it, the day he fucked up in the baths and said it's meant to be done to commit to the creed, lol
I am sorry what i am bout to say but one extra is Darcy's Hidden blade (from Watch Dogs), the Darcy Hidden blade os a Lil bit good cause it has the ability to change from a Hidden blade to a gun or a dart gun and the blade design look cool i'm my opinion, is like the combinación of the poison dart and the hidden gun and of course works good for stealth
I don't understand why darius didn't teach his descendants the proper way to wear the hidden blade, also its hilarious that bayek accidentally cut off his finger and then future assassins just kinda went along with it being an initiation.
I really like Bayek's Hidden Blade the most but only because I get to upgrade and craft it into something that looks different. Have you seen the end product of that weapon. I have. And it's pretty impressive. Well until you get to the Curse of the Pharaoh's DLC when it gets slightly less impressive.
Idk why but with the tech the modern assassins have I don’t see how they haven’t come up with a hidden blade that can change between several blade types
You guy’s excited for AC mirage though? I know they said they were going back to their roots and making it more stealth based but by the looks of it, it’s very similar to the Valhalla parkour speed 😅
Funnily enought this comes as im trying to prototype an ezio hidden blade with scissor lift, but his in game is impossible, its like 16 inches with a 7 inch casing. Im trying tk get 10 inches in 7 inch casing. But his tools are amazing like poison blade and hidden gun.

I think the hidden blade in Odyssey is the best, it's so well hidden that it's like it doesn't exist.
😭😭
Odyssey also has the best assassins. I mean they're so stealthy you don't see them for the entirety of the game

There’s just something about Altair’s hidden blade assassinations. It’s simple, but it feels super satisfying.
His assassinations are too slow, but thankfully in ac 3 they added assassinations while moving 😮😮
I love the high profile assassination where you stand behind someone, push them down, extend your blade, and stab it into their back

According to Assassin's Creed wiki, Shaun actually killed Isabelle with his shock blade.
