It seems, when I play this deck I will get paired against other black or white decks and control piles. When I switch the decks- mono red aggro is the opponent again...
Yeah, I know this pain. I'll play fun stuff thats not great against aggro, and all I'll play is soldiers and RDW. The moment I swap to something that wrecks aggro, all I see is control/midrange until I swap back.
Everything works as intended. That's how I also draw 4 or more lands in a row every day when it should stochastically take at least 40 games instead of my max. 10 for that.
@@carlpalacios I'm finding tons of random stuff in mythic at around 90-95%. I'm not really trying to climb and playing random piles myself so I can't complain much but it's true that sometimes you come across the RDW tryhards back to back for an hour then when you decide to change to a deck that destroys RDW you run into a control pile that owns you haha.
This deck has been my anti mono red strategy for quite a few months now, without the obliterator obviously since that just came out. It isn't even necessary, just have 4x Sheoldred so you can draw her consistently and stabilize the life total. By the time they empty their hand to deal with the Trespasser, Shelly's in the clear to live.
It is just hysterical to me that you are one of my favorite MtG TH-camrs, CGB. Because I play burn/aggro-style decks in Ranked more often than not, and I feel exactly the same way about mono-Blue as you do about mono-Red. 🤣 Just goes to show that the content you like is at least as much about the presenter as it is about the content itself...
I'd rather lose to agro or burn decks where I actually got to play something than get bored to death where I can't play any cards vs counterspell or discard dbags
That's what I was thinking in the moment but afterwards watching the vid I realized it wouldn't die and then I didn't have enough tokens afterwards. Guess this is why I'm not the one in best of one 😂

This deck does it all. I can't believe the tool kit Monoblack has. Artifacts is about the only thing it can't deal with. It can even blow past sweepers based control with all the recursion from Gixis Command. I've never made it to mythic on the ladder, but this deck is uniquely outfitted to stomp RG, UW soldiers and Mono R. It's just delightful to see you holding all the answers all the time.
Invoke despair is insane good. Targets enchantments and planeswalkers, two things infrequent in monoblack and even if it doesn't hit any target there is still a huge payoff (what other card drains an opponent 6 lifes and draws you 3 for 6cmc?)
@@Andrew12217 Well, it doesn’t _target,_ it makes your opponent sacrifice, but it is busted :p (Also, its mana value is 5, I think burn 6 draw 3 is more reasonable for 6)

This card is very interesting because it shows actually letting the opponent sacrificing 3 stuffs are not that strong, comparing to sac 1/2 + drawing 1/2 cards. This card is ridiculously good, but it's even ridiculous that because the standard meta is so strong now, with so many tools in monoblack, its winrate is actually only OKish. People complaining about Eldraine meta being too strong, but I think the current meta is even more insane. I don't even think the adventure decks or fires decks in eldraine era can match the speed of current standard decks like uw soldiers.
I've seen a trend post eldraine, adventure was plainly obvious but it was a starting for many cards to have 2 effects per card. That's why midrange was dominating. It easily outvalued aggro and every card that slipped control grip turned the boardstate by itself.

@Erick Garcia Rude, you don't have to be a jerk to a person just because they like a certain archetype, and to be fair. There's usually a strong Aggro deck, Midrange deck, and Control deck in the meta for Standard. Plus Mono red for awhile wasn't a meta deck till Dominaria United. Magic typically return to certain archetypes over time like Grixis or Esper Midrange or Control. Right now, it's not even a tier 1 strategy along with most Aggro decks currently in Standard.
Yes! You are using the red deck crusher, Life of Toshiro Umezawa. I love this card. It is so good against red aggro. For a little balance against midrange, you can use remove a despair and a bankbuster and replace with 2 Phyrexian arena.
I tried making a deck to punish aggro like this a while back, but I included a decent number of 1 mana protection spells (Shore Up and Armor of Shadows) so my Obliterator/Sheoldred would get added output. I also added a couple Vesuvan Duplimancy to put salt on the wound every time I deny the removal. I threw in some Gray Merchants cause that's a lot of black devotion just lying around. Finally, I had some Fake Your Own Death that I like to use on the Gray Merchants specifically since it will bring them back and trigger their entry ability again _AND_ make a copy that does the same for every Vesuvan Duplimancy on board.
When I first started in Revised, my friends and I didn’t realize you could target a player with Lightning Bolt. The first time I played a stranger and they bolted me, it felt like cheating. Monored does indeed suck.

Red will never die, it's the best way to do a fast first win of the day in best of one, and for every loss, you win al least 2 games ( well, obviously i'm talking about an Historic red deck, a standard red deck at the moment is garbage)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, wouldn't attacking with Myrel also lead to a loss in that soldiers game? You would simply have to block with your fleshgorger, throwing it away, then you'd have a target for your trespasser.
I crafted this deck and its amasing but it is some problem for me. I used CGBs link to craft deck and its crafted Obliterator not from new set card look but from another one. How can I change its look like from ONE set?
inner struggle type red cards would ACTUALLY blow your phyrexian obliterator out of the water. target creature deals damage equal to its power to itself. where as the obliterator reads if a source would deal damage to phyrexian obliterator, that sources controller sacrifices that many permanents. you being the controller of the obliterator would indeed have you paying the sacrifice cost.
I know mono-red is a problem again, and in the interests of full-disclosure my go to deck when I just wanna get some wins and go is red burn...but did mono-black really need more tools? Really?

I put this together with a few more shredders and 2 corrupts to go over the top mid to late game. Needless to say its a banger, I'm 14 and 2 only loosing to other Mono Black on the draw!
How could anyone hate Mono Red? 😱 The matches are so incredible fast - you win or you lose in just a few turns and then you can start a new game. Its so much more time efficent than these boring counter-control-decks, which win after a long grindy draw-go-game in turn 37.

This deck is amazing made it into top 300 with this deck. I did adjust 2 Phyrexia for 2 archfiend and 2 other cards for sheoldreds edict.

The only reason I play mono red sometimes is it is the only Meta deck that doesn't require a ton of wildcards to craft.
