73.4kg with TR AI ftp of 241 for 3.28w/kg...I also did some weightlifting early on, but stopped due to some body issues. Your sleep stats are impressive! I just got some cherry tart to see if it would help me, too. Seems more natural than taking melatonin pills. My perennial weakness (like others) are cramps....my special sauce this year is taking creatine which seems to have helped reduce cramping I think....but there is some research to support that.
We are close in stats for sure! It will be interesting to see where we end up given our different corrals. Coming from sea level I can’t see me getting cramps at the lower power I am having to keep, I also think that will reduce the chance of low back pain for me. Creatine tends to hold water so you might weigh a little more but that also might help with cramping.
Wanted to throw my numbers in the group here too. We all seem pretty close (& also 1st time Leadville riders??). I’m at 75.2kg and slowly dropping. My FTP has been at 245, which gives me 3.25 w/kg. I think I’m starting in blue corral.
Great video! Keep crushing it Jase! My numbers are pretty similar to yours and I'll also be starting from the back, so maybe we can ride together when we're out there :)
About nutrition, I used to plan about a bottle per hour using SiS Beta Fuel, but at the beginning of the race - when it's cold - I found myself peeing way too many times (almost every 1.5 hrs) so I drank less and consequently fell back on nutrition. These days I'm using gels as my main source of nutrition along with some water and liquid nutrition. Perhaps a bottle of liquid nutrition per hour during cold temps works (i.e., don't have to pee as much) for people who sweat a lot, but for me, it's too much liquid for me.
That is a great point and something I have had a think about. I think I will only use 2 bottles of 75 grams of carbs for the first 3 hours 15 and have the beta chews x2 or Gu chews to top me up.
Great video, Jase . Certainly makes the point that you have to be pretty bloody organized . Keep up the good work
Thanks, hopefully I am organised enough!
Keep up the good work
Thanks Dan. I am enjoying the process, hopefully that continues.

Thanks. That sounds like a good plan. Hopefully we can get somewhere close to the front of the Corral.

My friend, you need to practice more volume, 3-5 hour rides minimum.......
Good advice, pretty much been doing at least one of those a week and sometiems Sat and Sun.
Just remember that 95% of people in this race go out WAY too fast, so you shouldn’t be setting your pacing goals off of them
Yes good point and I had though about that.
