2021 Small Class C Motorhome from Hyundai based on Hyundai H100 or Hyundai Porter!

  • Hyundai introduced this Small Class C Motorhome this July, which is Hyundai H100 or Hyundai Porter custom build. Hyundai is calling this Motorhome ‘Porest,’ which combines Hyundai Porter (Hyundai H100)+ REST. This is cab-over type build, so it’s not big, but it actually has very useful space inside. So, let me just give you a quick tour of this motorhome.

    Sleeps 6. Wow, great use of space. For that size and price, I can bring my own cook top. Can't wait for it to hit the USA market!

      A single burner plug in is super inexpensive and stores away super easy. Same thing with small toaster ovens.

    I think Hyundai did a great job putting this on a truck bed with an established track record. Well thought out interior. At a mid 40's entry point, they would sell very well in the US.

    At the prices mentioned this would be a hit with the campervan crowd. The interior is promising. I have an 18foot Chinook Futura billed as "The Sportscar of Motorhomes" and I can say for the Hyundai the ground clearance is too low and the engine undersized. You do have to go slow in a motorhome and imprecise steering can make it a chore but a loaded RV even a little one needs healthy horse power and a solid transmission (preferably with a cooler option) or will succumb to the rigors of mountain passes in a very short time. Personally not a fan of anything with a slide out but the drop down cab over bed is brilliant.

    Vent'd seat is probably needed when sitting on top of the engine for 10h drive. How was vibration when driving? Airbags? Will be good to add a rear camera to assist parking and avoid the bushes/branches/rocks on many camping sites, as sensors are not meant to alert those. Nice review, thanks!

    Hyundai Porest is a 4 seater motor home.
    However, the rear seats are not equipped with a 3 point seat belt and an ISOFIX-latch system.
    The back seat is usually used by children in the family.
    However, Hyundai has an 2point lap belt ELR system in the back seat.
    There are no international class child carseat available for this rear seat.
    Hyundai Porest for domestic consumption, which ignores the safety of domestic consumers, cannot be regarded as a motor home for families.

  • @markc7889
    @markc7889 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, thank you for the video. Questions are: 1. On which car model is this motorhome built on? 2. What is gas mileage? 3. When will it be sold in USA? 4. Does it have the hooks up for USA RV system: fresh water, grey water and black water?

  • @c71chung
    @c71chung 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The only issue is that 133 hp engine and governed at 110 km/h, low ground clearance, this model is $70+k plus options, and max cargo payload is only 200kg. Fresh and grey tank at 80L each (21 gallon) is on the smaller end of the spectrum. So, don't worry about whether it is going to be called Poorest or Forest because not likely to be sold in NA.

    Very gutsy to have a non-camper salesman for demonstration, gutsy, but possibly a bad idea, tho he did his best. We are not deterred by him, we are still considering it. Taking the time to actually show the beds with comfortable bedding would be an improvement! Yea, there’s a campfire, but you could have done the ad from a dark parking lot for the same effect. I suggest you ramp up the “appeal” factors. He just pushed the all the same buttons in the first segment.

    Nice motorhome. I understand that they are using their pick up/ truck chassis, but I prefer to have a better and direct access from the cab to the back of the motorhome without hopping over the middle part that is located between passenger seat and the driver seat.
    There are still room for improvement such as rotating driver and passenger seat, reconfigure set up with an additional captain seat for 3rd and 4th passenger. Foot parking break instead of hand break. Want to see this with improvements in north america. Cheers.

    I wonder what the Cargo Carrying Capacity is on this rig?

    • @c71chung
      @c71chung 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      200kg for this model. 350kg for lower trim. So not much.

    • @CanYouRememberWhen
      @CanYouRememberWhen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like about 400 lbs cargo limit with this model. You could carry 2-3 people and a little food in the fridge. I agree, that's not very good.

    Love your channel, and I love that Hyundai is entering the RV market, they could dominate the US market if they brought this here, but unfortunately it looks like they have no plans to. Like everyone has mentioned, the RV market is controlled by very few companies, and everything is extremely expensive.
    I am curious as to the amount of noise the engine puts out while driving. Maybe next review you could film sound while driving?
    The only drawback I can see of this is the engine maintenance will be a nightmare. Is this engine known for good reliability?
    Looking forward to your other videos
    Thanks!

    Stop saying it's a large car. It's NOT that large for an RV! For USA, it's a medium size RV. The only issue is the lack of torque and horse power. What's the gas mileage? Also, how does this RV handle? Any vibration from the engine? What is the reliability record of Porter?

    • @AsianPetrolhead
      @AsianPetrolhead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are right. This is Tiny for RV standard. Thank you for watching our Hyundai Porest review. Handling is not so great. Lots of vibration from 2.5L diesel. Reliability, don't know they just released it. Thank you L. L.
