Hi, I'm an Italian MLS who tifs the New York City Football Club, but (unfortunately) not living in New York I do not know the football environment. Does the NYC Red Bulls have a few fans? So many people follow US soccer and football teams in the US? Strength NYCFC and Fiorentina!
I actually didn't really watch the MLS much, but I am a huge Manchester City fan so since NYCFC is in the City Bubble I started watching and rooting for them.

I moved to NY for college in 2013, right when NYCFC was announced. I was already an Arsenal fan, I want to stay in New York post graduation, and I wanted to be able to go to a local team. And I wanted to be one of the first fans of a club, because that practically never happens. It was just a perfect storm that made me a City fan, and now I'm City Till I Die.

For years I was a Redbulls fan actually since they were originally the Metro Stars.I was a New York Redbulls fan until NYC got its own team. I still have respect for the Redbulls but they play in Jersey, NYCFC plays in NYC, which is were I’m from, so now my allegiance belongs to the Bronx Blues. Call me what you want but sports is about geography I’m not gonna choose a Jersey team over a NYC team no matter what the history is or what the jersey says.
This rivalry still needs time to develop. Look at LA vs Seattle those games are crazy! Though the New York teams vs. Philadelphia reminds me of the Manchester vs. Liverpool rivalry.

I'm from North Jersey, 10 minutes from Red Bull Arena, minus from when Henry was there, I could never really get into them. I used to go at Giants Stadium when they were the Metrostars, and I just couldn't dig it. NYCFC came in last year and I slowly started getting into them. Maybe with the addition of Lampard, Villa, and Pirlo, it got my attention. So I'm slowly getting into MLS now thanks to NYCFC.

How can NYRB fans call 'plastic' to other supporters when they follow a team like that. They should not even be allowed in a serious profesional football league. Why don't they make a league of their own, where they can play against the Miami Coca-Colas, the San Francisco Burger Kings, or the New Orleans Play Stations.
