    Make a note : If you like Prawn Noodle, there is the famous Beach Road/Haji Lane junction, prawn noodle shop which also sells pork ribs/prawn noodle. Most tourists missed it after visiting Haji Lane. Go early to avoid disappointment. Do it on your next "pilgrimage". The spring roll (popiah) main ingredient is cut-in-strips steamed turnip (which is a little sweet).

    Next time Chomp Chomps in Serangoon Gardens (my favourite for nostalgic reasons), or the hawker centres in Whampoa, McPherson and Toa Payoh. All mab be out if the way, but they are in the heartland where true Singaporeans eat and definitely well worth it.

    Hi Janice, one suggestion, go for Hainanese style satay instead, they use minced pineapple in their satay sauce, it’s pretty amazing! And the satay u had, wayyy too burnt! 😂 I would avoid LPS satay in general.

    Janice my dear,
    One food/journey option that I recommend is starting the morning early at the Adams Road Food Centre near the Botanic Gardens MRT (the Nasi Lamak is superb), walking down through the Botanic Gardens (an essential Singapore experience), and then catching the MRT from Napier to Havelock for brunch at the Tiong Bahru Market. Tiong Bahru is Singapore's coolest neighborhood (Well, maybe Joo Chiat is, but such arguments are academic). Next time you are in Singapore, do spend some time in Tiong Bahru. Easy walking from Tanjore Pagar where all the cool people hang. Oh, and the "it" spot at the moment is Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe on Craigs Rd TP.

    Thanks for the introduction to our country, May i also recommend other ASEAN countries for the stated food?
    Whilst i love Singapore, our cuisines are rarely local.
    The follow locations may offer more authentic and flavourful cuisine!
    For
    1. Bak Kut Teh - try Malaysia, Klang
    2. Ice Cream Sandwich - Japan Convenience Stores
    3. Chicken Rice - this is local.
    4. Minced Pork Noodles - Guangdong, China
    5. Prawn Noodles - Xiamen, China
    6. Laksa - Petaling Jaya,. Malaysia
    7. Char Siew Rice - Hong Kong
    8. Popiah - Fujian, China

    • @Drippinonyou
      @Drippinonyou 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wrong, Minced pork noodles aka bar chor mee is a uniquely singaporean dish by teochew hawkers that settled here. There isnt an equivalent overseas. Also Bak ku teh sg version is clear soup. Malaysias is herbal soup which not many people can accept. Dont know about their origins. Its not too clear. Only the Nonya style laska managed to make its way to be katong laksa due to the number of peranakans in sg. Joo Chiat/Katong: The area's association with the Peranakans can be traced back to the early 20th century when many Peranakan families from the Neil Road/Tanjong Pagar area shifted there.
