MCN Roadtest: Ducati Monster 1100S

- MCN road tester Trevor Franklin already tested the new Ducati Monster 1100 at the launch, but how does the 1100cc V-twin powered naked fair on bumpy British roads?
Trev has tested the 1100S version on UK roads and here's some of his thoughts: "The new Ducati Monster 1100S scores highly straight from the off.
"The combo of stiff chassis and Ohlins suspension is a track day rider's dream and involuntary throttle movement gives immediate engine response."
For the full test, pick up a copy of the January 7 edition of MCN.

these bike are very well built and hold up over time.
They are much nicer to ride than other bikes too.
Enjoyed this video. MCN's TH-cam videos seem to have been getting better lately.
gotta love this beauty
My God that sounds amazing! This will be my next bike!
Sharp bike, thanks for sharing mate!
is the rear seat only that little black triangular thing?
nice sound to it. an looks great too
Would you suggest this bike for a novice? I ve been riding off and on for years but ive bee away from bikes for about 15+ years. I need a big bore bike because i am 6 foot 3 and about 240 pounds
I saw a Ducati Monster today!!
are these better than a buell lightning?
How does this bike do when compared to the Yamaha FZ 1000?
what is the difference between the ducati monster 696 and the 1098? is one for beginners and the other is for more experienced bikers?
I am from Bosnia down to earth beautiful country/people. Living in Australia at the moment, weather is excellent for bikes its always hot dry sunny "hottest & driest inhabited place on earth" Ducati = Dream come TRUE.
great video of an awesome bike
ducati vs. buell is apples to oranges on every level! from history and heritage to performance and quality not to mention the culture.
OooooOoHh I Love that sound..!!
It is like a thousand kittens gently caressing my ear drums!
@metalheadfille mine has fully adjustable Showa suspension. I have ridden the 1100s too and you would need to be bloody good to really tell the difference. :)
wow, beautiful, i love ducati, the best.
Nice review!
The bike is Hot, Real Monster.
how much please tell me?
@Darkzey Hi there,
for sure your Ducati needs more care than a BMW, but when you get over the 6000 rpm it is fucking nice to feel the vibration and to hear the engine roar. He forgot to say to most against on this bike, it is fucking addicting
Nice vid.
Im in missouri right now and they got some pretty twisty stuff.
i love it!
Sorry me, but i don't undestand it, do you mean the 90 degree V-twin engines with Desmodromic valves was copyed of formula 2 Ford engine? you should exlplain better, when? which engine? I have enormous doubtful.
I bet that engine is fantastic for road use. Plenty of power where it's really needed.
@sooupdragon Go for the 796 Monster mate. GHood price. Could do with a little more HP, but hey, it does a job.
okrabay: to answer your question the Ducati Monster is far more refined than a buell lighting. 1. the monster's cornering as far superior and like trevor said "effortless." The motor in the lighting is merely a souped up sportser motor. Buells were own by harley and are no longer in production. Needless to say you can get a buell for dirt cheap w/warranty but you get what you pay for in the long run
good review dude.. thanks for talking straight too.. its $9k. etc
@R0FLLMA0WTF : The "S" comes with fully ajustable Öhlins suspension (Gold coloured front fork) and nice Gold coloured rims. The 1100 has Sachs suspension.
I'm sure ms. Margaria knows this bike.Good reviewer but should be a longer show;) Have only seen one in Dublin so far
You also have the aprilia tuono!
@artistsourav59 yeah...i too agree with u..
Very nice review sir! And letting us listen to that V-twin instead of some bloody techno music.... nicely done.
Ducati now makes nice AND reliable bikes but they still aren't cheap.... which probably is for the better actually. If they were cheap everyone would buy them and then they'd be about as special as.... well.... something not as special.
What if every dimwit could afford a Ferrari? Exactly...
Was watching this vid when it was just posted. 5 years ago.. Time is running. But, ducati still good.
The UK has windy roads, not straight boring roads like in america.
At speed, that little fairing makes a significant difference. I happen to own both a Monster 900Si.e. and a ER6-f (650R in US), and like them both. They are not comparable - the Ducati has MUCH better brakes, a stronger engine, fully adjustable quality suspension and a huge aftermarket for performance improvements. Oh, and the wind protection is about the same, tiny fairing or not. My ER6f is better for touring, more economical & has a much smaller turning radius which is a Duc failing.
Thanks alot for letting us listen to the music of the 1100 rather than some teeny bop B.S.
Monster!
@jokeman86 than wake up, drive to a Harley dealer, catch one of the last Buell XB12 and close your eyes again. THIS IS HEAVEN mate.
best ducati engine ever
The rear seat has a removable plastic cover for riding two up.
Same high tax situation in Vietnam, so you have a lot of people ride bycicle like u, don't feel lonely ;)
@TigerSupercatE1
You want to ride this as your first bike ? Good luck then, I think you'll need it. Or a lot of self-controle.
the new 09 monster from Duc.. is friggin awesome.. it even won the award for best looking bike.. Im talking bout the new Monster not the 1100s
that isn't even on the same league... A naked bike Vs a hypersort?! but thank you for enlightening me..
close your eyes and listen to that sound....for a moment you almost think you´re in heaven
such as?
Did he say termi-nogeni?
@truebluepat ha its not $9k its 9k euros. $12151. plus tax and everything so its like 15k+ USD.
A right cheeky motor, in'nit?
(...) Termigloli? Is that a new Italian pasta...?!?
@sooupdragon just cuz its expensive doesnt mean its not good
way better. ducatis basically come with every upgrade you could imagine factory installed.
@reaper2ooX Lions don't purr.
looool "Termignonini" 0:33
They aren't all they're hyped up to be.
I dont like the new ducati monsters headlight, just isnt the same anymore
@artistsourav59 don't worry is almost the same thing! loool just kidding, the taxes here are not too high but i still can't afford one as well so cheers mate!
sounds awesome!only thing i would change is that number plate holder it looks like a stick poking out its ass.
depending where your going a bicycle could be a anywhere from 1 stroke to 500000000000000000 strokes
im going to assume school is expensive there too right?
Ugh, i HATE that digital tach. Digi speedos are fine with me, but I absolutely can't stand a digital tachometer.
Bicycle = best 1 stroke ever.
@artistsourav59 dude, ducati costs a lot here in Italy aswell, and i'm riding a bicycle too ;-)
this guy didn't seem too thrilled to ride a ducati =/
You must be the guy who rides around main street i first gear
@ballindude22 HA, its not $9,000 Euros, its $9,000 POUNDS. The pound is a completely different currency, and are still worth atleast 15% more then the Euro (today anyway). England/UK does not partake in the European common currency. Hey, comprehension skills are not your thing. Understanding is just a little bit beyond you. Like Biggy said - don't feel bad, UPS is hiring.
streetfighter or monster .........???
woah woah i didnt call him an idiot. there is a difference.
more than tax, the attitude of sole importer/dealer has ruined the ducati india. hope audi brings in the fresh air.
Well. 20 000 english punds in norwa for this one. Almost 200 000 norwegian
just make sure to buy a lifetime supply of kittylitter
moment i get a licence ;)
It's pronounced: TERM-IN-YONI
i don't know much about bikes, but i want one! also it's soo sexi.
He´s driving on the wrong side^^ ;-)
when i said rubbish let me explain a ducati engine is two cyclinders off a formula 2 ford engine the exhaust was copyed from a honda rc30 and they are over priced rubbish but nice rubbish
Dukati cost a lot in india bcaz of huge tax, so cant buy one. Now m riding bycycle.
Youre driving on the wrong side of the road man!!!
hahaha
Your r1 video is very cheese, The r1 is very nice but your comparing two totally different bikes.
a 2009 R1 for example
Like the one in my videos
@nielsboex just a joke really...
lame plate holder on rear , spoils the bike
almost ten grand with the cans?
You could get a real bike for that!
absurd remark
k weirdo
Most boring review EVER...
Blerst.
what a load of rubbish
i have never rode one of these over priced bikes i will stay in the real world with my kawasaki zx7r
your video is #@$#@# cheese, come are you serious?
What a useless test!
Farting around in the rain in crappy England.
rubish old man acting like he knows everything
ducati's are ugly and expensive, but its a good machine.
